The only reason I sort of don't want Fenris to be bisexual is because I don't want it to become a "thing" in the DA universe. We already had Zevran, and there's already so much stuff like that about elves in popular culture. The old "It's not gay if it's with an elf" line and so forth. They're generally portrayed as relatively androgynous, too.HolyJellyfish wrote...

I've always been a fan of Elves, Tolkien and DA included. I don't know what it is, but I think it has something to do with the fact that they're similar enough to humans to be relatable, yet different enough to be exotic and interesting.
If I have the option, it's always what I will choose to play as, at least my first time around. And if I can't play as one, then in the case of DA2, it's what I will choose to romance if given the option. My first female character will be all over Fenris for sure if it's a possibility, and that's why I am one of those who really wants a female elf LI. It's not that being an elf is the only thing that's important or the only thing I care about, but I just take it for granted they're going to be interesting characters regardless of race; I'd just like for the race to be Elf for one of them.
I'd be more than happy if there was a non-human female character, LI or otherwise.
But if Fenris is BI, everyone will be happy. With enougn mods, he can be anyone's blond haired green eyed curvacious former-slave elf. Provided you turn off his vocals and fantasize.
... maybe not...
I don't know. I just don't want them to be pigeonholed. Why not have a masculine, heterosexual male elf?
I have no problem with bisexual characters, and I think it's great that they are including them. I just think another bisexual elf would be too much like another Zevran. Let's mix it up a bit.

I agree with SirOccam completely on this. It's not that I have problems with bisexuals it's just that it'll give people more ammunition to a very, very, very stupid fire that should have been put out a long time ago. It's so hard to find a good masculine heterosexual elf referenced anymore. Give us just the one. We'll be very happy.

Like their Drow. Their sun, moon, green, wild, and dusk elves are all over the place. Culturally homogeneous races are bad enough, but when they realized that their culturally homogeneous elves were sort of dull, they just made half-a-dozen subraces.

I do too. My import for DA2 might end up being a female Dalish elf who never moves on from him, I thought he was charming in the short period of time we got to interact with him, and the follow-up later in the game was great. I'm just pointing out that we have had a masculine heterosexual elf.

Forgot Tamlen. I need to go make a Dalish elf again-- I'll find a way to make a elf that looks nice. I haven't played one in DA:O in such a long, long time.
OK, so we had the one in DA:O for however long it takes you to get past the first part of the Dalish Origin and then his three minute reappearance. Can we get a second in DA2? Pretty please? That lasts the entire game?
And hiyas Ex-Paladin! Nice to see you again!

I agree with this, but David's comments already have me persuaded that Fenris is going to be the bisexual LI, like Zevran. I wish he was not.

I don't know how you can draw Fen's bi from what Ser Gaider's already said. I thought even Gaider said it was a joke.

He didn't confirm it explicitly in any way. But I took his encouragement to speculate along with the smiley the same way I took his addressing Chris' "DA is not a dating sim" comment to add that Chris wasn't necessarily denying Fenris as an LI: as a positive affirmation.

See my above post. I am only subjectively interpreting his lack of discouragement. The rest of you may not interpret it the same way.
I am digging up the quote. When I find it I will edit this post.
Edit: Found it.

I was more commenting that I think Edward and Jacob have way more sexual chemistry with each other than either of them do with that hag, Bella... but you're free to read into my wording as much as you like.

This is a near foundationless statement, but Fenris isn't coming off as a game-changing elf.
It depends upon your idea of game-changing. Is the premise behind Fenris terribly original? Not really we've seen the living weapon who was tortured by scientists (or in this case mages) with Jack in ME2. In concept, Fenris isn't incredibly unique.
But in execution Fenris has the potential to be a very well-written character, Bioware can and has told some of the best stories in the industry. He might just have a cookie cutter backstory, but the dialogue that he has will be the delicious frosting on top of the cookie that is Fenris.
(On the whole Fenris being bi topic)
If he is, he is, if he's not, he's not.
However, if he is I'd just appreciate a little bit of characterization to explain why (see Zevran)
(On the subject of Tamlen)
I liked Tamlen, I like the premise of having a childhood friend going on adventures with you over the course of the game. I was disapointed when that mirror messed up his mind.
What do you suppose Fenris' fighting style is going to be like? He's a warrior, so he's not going to be flipping and jumping around like a rogue. But being a knock-out drag-out brawler like Oghren doesn't seem to be in character for him either.

Now, not so much. Which makes me glad that Dragon Age came along.

Well, he's a little like Valen in some respects. I wanted to have a more stoic character, and never really got the opportunity to explore that fully with Valen.
Citing this has me conflicted. I don't generally like elves, though I find Dragon Age elves far less offensive than most and I liked Tamlen and enjoy friendly banter with Zevran. I don't generally like characters with tormented backgrounds, though there are obviously exceptions and Valen is definitely one of those. Also, I have a serious weakness for teasing stoic characters. I'm starting to think that Fenris is going to be a character I will absolutely love or rabidly hate, with no middle-ground.
