Edit: Hmm. I wonder if I'm about to hit another ToP streak. This one, by ScarletDusk, is not only very cute (IMO) but vaguely topical for Solana's fic.

Gah, I know exactly what you mean about how this thread can really save your life on those really bad days. Seriously, it's like a dose of really good happy medicine for me (lyrium, maybe?).  You guys make me smile even when I feel like shooting myself (blame law school for that), and not many people, if any, can do that <3

Actually, I don't read a lot of AU in general - it pulls me out of suspension of disbelief - but I'm really enjoying yours.  <3 And it isn't that I'm not big on DA Fanfic - I'm just trying to read as little as possible (at least in-universe) while I work on my own, just so I can somewhat stay in my own head as I write, if that makes any sense. This is why I'm currently reading more ME fic - I'm not actively writing ME at the moment. (That and I'm addicted to Sia's fics and I got a couple of interesting recs last night. )

Maybe one of these days I'll read Coffee, Black. (One of these days when I'm not antsy about upcoming exams. At least I get a month off starting in mid December!)

ok, i tried something different. with the quest 'alone' ..when Fenris first saw Denarius...he had the look of horror. i was on the way to hand him over and was thinking " i can do this" ...but when he said 'he couldn't face him alone'...*i am a full rivalry* ...it made me so sad..seeing them green eyes... i couldn't let him go back. XD

Yah don't. I don't think I'll ever get over the sight of his utter surrender. He just gives up and it breaks my freaking heart. Head all drooped and it is so harsh, the look he gives you when you say it, like you just ripped HIS heart out of his chest. Oh god, I can't even think of it.

Actually, no...but I know it comes very highly recommended. 

Please don't take away my Fenris thread membership card for admitting I haven't read Coffee, Black? (Actually, I have been reading more ME fic than DA2 just because I'm actively working on the DA2 fic - nothing personal to all the good DA fic I haven't read.)

If/when I switch gears and take a stab at the ME2 fic I plan, I will probably swoop down and attack Fenfic a bit more. (In this case, swooping is good. )

Edit to add: I miss writing prompt fills - tis one reason I ask.  

I haven't read it either!  I thought I was the only one.  I haven't been reading any fanfic lately though...maybe I will later.

He just slumps his shoulders, bows his head and follows Danarius with downcast eyes. Seriously,I have a look of absolute horror on my face whenever I brave looking at that clip on youtube. It's just so cruel. I can never ever do it. Not even for science.

Me too. It actually gives you a glimpse at how damaged (for lack of a better word) Fenris' psyche is.

Me too. It actually gives you a glimpse at how damaged (for lack of a better word) Fenris' psyche is.

Me three - I watched it once I youtube and it was all I could do to keep from throwing my laptop and sending a nasty message to the poster for sending him back!

I completely agree with this. Fenris' reaction to being forced back into slavery again surprised me. When I first heard it was possible to hand him back to Denarius, I honestly expected that he would fight to the death. It always seemed to me that he would rather die a free man than live as a slave. But he doesn't, he gives up.
Perhaps he reasons that Denarius' will wipe his memory again and he won't remember anyways. Either way, for me, it demonstrates how much of an impact Hawke's betrayal has on him. He doesn't even have it in him to fight anymore.

Lol, I get the Danarius thing and I sit their thinking, it's not mean, it's not justified in any way it is simply evil, you would have to be role playing an evil bloodmage character and even my evil bloodmages don't wanna do it.

I have to say, one of the most heart-wrenching things in 'Alone' is when Varania tells Fenris about how he competed for the markings. (If you let her live.) The way he says "Why are you telling me this?"

Eh it's not evil but I don't see much the poit in it. My evil bloodmages would take the loyal elf who can crush hearts and is in love with them over Danarius lame 5 Sovereigns.

Will have to comment when I have time, but like everything I thought about this a lot and his reaction seems quite understandable. Also, what ryz said. Even an utterly evil and sociopathic Hawke has NO reason to give him back. 5 sovereigns and you lose the epic warrior/weapon or kill the mouthy magister and co and LOOT more coin than that off his dead body... hmm... yeah the only reason to do it is to be legitimately hateful and irrationally hateful to Fenris. Your sending him to a fate worse than death.
