I also enjoy how he reacts, not always as expected, how Fenris gets caught off guard by a compliment or how he goes off on a tirade only to reel himself back in and apologize. Peel back those layers and see the depth of his character, not just some 'emo whiner who hates mages'.

My fanart is F!HawkexFenris simply because I'm a girl and roll female hawke/warden/shepard about 75% of the time. I also don't dislike Izy, I just get jealous easy (one of my faults).

bah, I'm rambling now and this is turning into a wall of text saying points others have already made, I'll stop now.

@Ursula I'm glad I'm not alone! It is a bit like stagefright, isn't it? That's a nice way of putting it.  And no, it wouldn't be out of line to call yourself a smut-writing-virgin, because that's just the word I was looking for to describe my predicament!

@Arquen- Finally had time to sit down and read In Victory, Wine and I LOVE it!!! I love the way Gweyna delights in teasing Fenris! And things did get pretty steamy in there, eh? You are very good at writing smut  And classy smut at that!

The end made me go all warm and fuzzy on the inside "I love you, Fenris..."

Bought Mass Effect 2 today in hopes it would reel me in more then Mass Effect one has so far. Can already tell from the cover that Fenris isn't in it. Such a travesty. Given that my fave characters are Fenris and Zevran in the DA universe any romance suggestions for similar character types?

@Fleshy - I know I see a lot of Thane in Fen thread sigs, but my favorite LI for FemShep is Garrus. Let me see... If you want darker tortured soul, I'd suggest Thane. If you go for Friendmancing and perhaps want the angst toned down Just a little - Garrus. Definitely. (It also doesn't hurt that Garrus is an incurable smartass and a BAMF to boot. His VA is amazing too.)

Confession time: I've never played Mass Effect... *shifty eyes*... I keep hearing all about it, and my boyfriend keeps telling me I *need* to play it. He's played all the bioware games.

I played Neverwinter Nights, but not Neverwinter Nights 2... Really Dragon Age 2 was kind of the game that solidified this insane fangirling thing I've got going now. Figured I was too old to fangirl, but I guess I was wrong.

I always hear either Garrus or Thane as well.. if your going for characters like Fenris. However, none of them are actually very much like Fenris, just some similarities. One day I'll try Mass Effect... one day...

@Solona -- you for reading and commenting on my little fic, LOL. I'm not a fan of terribly explicit and graphical sex stuff, and even coffee, black gets me sometimes with its explicitness.

Alright.. have to go to work tomorrow and have so many things I want/need to do! Plus this weekend I'm going to be out of town for my b-day *happydance*

Fenris: *does a slight shrug of his shoulders as he takes another bite of his apple*

Hawke: Hmph... well apples from Darktown can be just as crawly as mutton from the Hanged Man.

Fenris: *stops mid-chew and stares at his apple* That's not funny, Hawke.

Just have to say I have been watching those videos, and I love Gideon, he is super. But, Adam is just the happiest, smiley, good humour guy in the entire world. God, I want to snuggle him and make him go away from Gideon all at once. Another reason I am glad I wasn't there.

Plus Adam is a quick as a whip, he sees touchy subjects and laughs them off where Gideon wants to honestly answer them and he sort of tries to navigate a mine field with varying degrees of success like the "what romance gender do you like better?", loaded question please step away from the mike, Adam jokes, Gideon pokes the angry gay bear, with a ten foot pole but still.  Still I think you're the awesomest Emery! If you and Adam here hanging on the edge of a cliff I would... probably make you talk in character back and forth till you both fell, cause I'm awful.

@Fleshdress I don't know if anyone caught it on video, but in the panel, Gideon did make a joke about how people seem to think he is constantly down when in fact, he really isn't. It was quite funny.

Something about a guy approaching him in the restroom...consoling him "don't worry mate, you'll find the right one" putting his hand on his back.

Gid: "Hey, no, it's alright"
Guy: "no really mate, don't worry, you'll be alright"
Gid: "Hey, no I'm really fine!"

Etc...made me chuckle He does have a default straight face kind of look

He really does and I can't make out what they're saying but it's obvious that people in the crowd are commenting or shyly joking and Adam gives them a chuckle and I don't know if Gideon can't hear them but default straight face does not ever let the man down.

Edit: Or maybe the commenters are just not funny. Were they Funny Dahl?

Which is why I always say that Gideon reminds me so much of Fenris and Adam reminds me so much of Anders. Adam is all bubbly and happy and just downright ADORABLE, whereas Gideon's all straight-faced and serious with an incredible sense of humour hidden behind all that "seriousness". You guys do know that Gid's an award-winning stand up comedian, right? He's as hilarious as hell!

However, I too noticed how Adam laughingly brushed away the question about gay/straight romance in the game, whereas Gideon actually tried his best to answer it honestly without offending anyone (he tried REALLY hard). It's funny because I'm like that too, for some reason. As much as I'd love to brush a question away with a joke or something, I always end up trying to answer it seriously, no matter how controversial it may be.

Ahhh Gideon, Gideon. I'm in love with you, you sexy beast, you.

@Ursula- You are the sweetest thing for continuing to read it! I keep updating it, but I'm just not posting the updates here anymore because I feel uncomfortable about self-promotion. Plus, I don't wanna annoy anyone by constantly posting links to new chapters.

@Arquen- You're most welcome, brain twin! Yeah, Coffee, Black really got to me sometimes too. I'd be reading the smut and be feeling so uncomfortable at the same time. But I force myself to be cool about it, though that's hard when you're such a prude as I am. And you're not alone: I've never played Mass Effect either, though I hear its even better than Dragon Age (which is very difficult for me to believe) so I think I'll be getting it soon. Maybe when I finish my final semester of law school everrrr next month as a graduation gift to myself.

Oh, that is so recognizable! I'm having the same problem as well. The writing went pretty well, I think, and I got them to kissing... and now I dón't know how to proceed from there on. XD It's hard enough to write an "intimate" scene, but I have chosen a male Hawke too... gah, I think I would've managed better if Hawke was at least female. Then I can come up with something they could do, but two guys... lol, well, I know the obvious things, but... just... no... And I'm not going to google for inspiration.  I know that will give me some images I rather forget. I know I could read other fics about this for ideas, but I don't want to steal other people's work. I'm a university student, and plagiarism is crime number one.
Point is, I'm a bit stuck for now, haha. My boyfriend says I should skip that whole scene and proceed after the "deed", but.. well, that doesn't really work either, because you have the whole memories-coming-back thing and that works best when you can write about it in the moment itself...

 Allow me to be of some assistance since I actually went through this myself a bit. Coincidentally, the hardest things for me to write are realistic kisses. You don't want the "tongues fighting for dominance" thing or the "devouring, ravaging, slathering" thing, but you don't want "kiss," and be done with it either.

It is just.. so hard to find a happy medium! Writing a love scene is like stepping through a mine-field. Literally ONE screw up, mistype, awkward wording and it is the difference between "licked lamppost" and "tender caressing shivers." LOL.

For M/M I go to the kink!meme, and while you don't have to *steal* ideas per say, reading some of those can definitely give you an idea of what you like to read and see vs what you do not. Also, language, and actions, and descriptions. Helpful things to pick up on. Knowing what works and what doesn't.

I'm such a prude as well, and when things get too graphic/explicit I kind of get squicked a little. Though, that's me. I aslo have never read romance novels or smutty stuff ever before dragon age kink_meme. Sooo.. kind of new territory completely. I was like MAKER! the first time I read a couple, LOL. I got over it though, but I still can't read mindless pr0n.

Lol brain twin, why am I not surprised that you're a prude as well? I never read smut before reading DA:O fanfic in early 2010, and that was just one story. The next time I ever read smut was in Coffee, Black more than a year and a half later. And I still feel all uncomfortable when I do. Maker, I really have no idea how I'm going to pull off smut in my own fic, and I definitely have to do it, seeing as the story won't be complete without some hot lovin' between my Marian and Fenris.

But that's for Act II. I can relax for now and maybe only worry about a sweet kiss. Lol.
