And yes please to a rivalry romance. I don't even care if it's with Fenris or not. I just want one.
Yeeessssssss!!! I just want raw sexual tension culminating in a mad, hot romantic scene that would make me fall apart at the controller. Fenris or no, I'd be so ecstatically happy.

Hawke: Fenris, you might not care for mages much, but you will show me some damned respect! Innocent people could have died if you hadn't followed my order.
Fenris: (scoffs) Respect you? Your a mage, your kind can't go five minutes without some eldritch abomination crawling out of the woodwork because you don't know when to leave well enough alone! That's what caused this whole business with the darkspawn in the first place! Bloody. Stupid. Mages!
Hawke: Oh, look at you! Big talk from the man who runs away from his problems. You have no idea what its like to be a mage! To either live as a slave to the Chantry or on the run from the templars. They took my father, they tried to take my sister, they even tried to take me away. Just because that magister enslaved you doesn't make all mages monsters, so do not attempt to lecture me on the ethics of magic elf.
Fenris: You talk of family, but look at yourself look at the people you suround yourself with. They care about you and yet you run headfirst into danger whenever it pleases you to.
Hawke: I have a duty to Kirkwall.
Fenris: And a duty to the people who care about you. I've never had a family or friends before now, and these people mean a lot to me, you however feel perfectly content to ignore them in favor of serving a populace that views you as some kind of monster.
Hawke: Duty is my motivation, not glory.
Fenris: Really now, there's not a part of you that wants the whole of Kirkwall to rise up a cheer you as a hero? To finally see your kind elevated to glory? To see your ancestor's tales of how magic was used for the benefit of the many instead of the few.
Hawke: Yes! Alright? For my entire life I've lived in a world that loathed my very existence, that wanted me imprisioned simply for a gift I was born with. I'm sorry Fenris but regardless of what you say I want to use the chance I've been given to do some good, so that people like my family will never need suffer the way they have.
Fenris: Then I was wrong.
Hawke: What?
Fenris: When my old master...spoke he would rant on and on about how he would use his power, and the power of others like him to enslave those without his gifts. And that I would be the instrument of his new regime. You may wield his power, but you are not like my master.
Hawke: Am I really? I treated you as a subordinate, you of all people who goes and risks his life when he has nothing to gain from it.
Fenris: Well, that's not completely true I've got friends. And you. (kisses Hawke)
Hawke: (a little out of breath) And here I was thinking that I was a bloody stupid mage.
Fenris: You still are, but you're also a woman who cares about her family. Besides someone has to keep you out of trouble.
Hawke: So what now?
Fenris: We contiune on this road together.
Hawke: That's rather poetic Fen I didn't know you had it in you.
Fenris: (deadpan) I don't have it in me, if we don't continue down this road it will be nightfall before we get back to the inn.
(Hawke smiles and shakes her head, the couple walk off hand in hand)

Fenris: (uneasy) Dwarf, why is Hawke staring at us like that?
Varric: (equally creeped out) I don't know buddy but I say that we walk slowly towards the door.
(Fenris starts to get out of his seat)
Varric: (grabs Fen's arm) Wait! Whatever you do don't make direct eye contact!
Fenris: Why is that?
Varric: You obviously haven't been to the taverns in the city's Antivan quarter.

Well...he CAN. But after awhile it starts falling into a stereotype. Same as the sexually adventurous female rogue (which, again...they need to lay off of, imo.)
On an unrelated note, as others have said I'm interested in the Fen/Mage!Hawke interactions. Should be fun, LI or no.

You should see the happy, dorky smile that appears on my face when I read stuff like this. Seriously, I am mentally hugging you all in the huggiest way that the internet could ever hug! Which is never as good as the real thing, but it's not bad for pixels, right?

Aww, Elaine! *blushes and hugs you* that dorky smile on my face got even bigger. I'll never forget hanging out with you and Tam and everybody out in London... can you imagine if we got all the forum regulars together sometime? It would be so epic, the fun we'd have. Just remembering how great it was makes me wish we could do that. And what I wouldn't give to see you all again... There's just something so special about meeting people in person and seeing who they really are. I still remember your smiles and cherish those memories.
Okay, now I've gotta stop or I'm gonna... too late.

I
would love it if for once, just once as the PC, you could actually
unload with your troubles and not be the stoic hero all the damn time.
That would be marvelous. I mean, all the stuff they go to the trouble to make you feel connected to... to be able to pour your heart out about all that tragedy is priceless. I don't like completely unbroken heroes; they seem cardboardy to me. At some point, the protagonist, if they've gone through enough, should need a shoulder to cry on... and hopefully find one. I'm hoping DA2 will give you a chance or two at something like that.
Like kwintessa, that drove me crazy with Alistair when you were a Cousland! Wynne was the closest you got, but you'd think Alistair would--I mean, seriously, that made him look so self-obsessed, when he's actually a sweetheart. I wished they would've actually delved into that, but maybe that's a big reason for why DA2 is the way it is--instead of six origins, you have Hawke, so the companions can now say, "You lost a sibling to an ogre's crushing hand," or something specific like that. I guess this way they don't have to dance around so much; they can spend resources on Hawke and it's always going to be Hawke's story, so they can go a little deeper and make it more emotional. That's what I'm hoping.
n2nw wrote...
In
any of the origins really, there are SEVERAL moments when it would be
nice if that special someone chimed in on your feelings or asked about
your background.
I was really ticked when playing the Alienage
origin and after going back and choosing certain dialogue options, they
seem almost callous about what happened at your wedding. That was a
prime moment for some sympathy love and some deep dialogue. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/crying.png
I hope DA2 will finally be the game that gives us some PC TLC.
Holy CRAP yes!!! This is exactly what drove me nuts... they gave you all these great backstories, but in the end they don't really have those little deeper moments with companions that would mean so much and add flesh and meaning to your origin. I think this is part of the reason why they wanted to limit themselves to one origin this time, and I hope they make us feel the impact emotionally when interacting with our companions. That would be so stellar. I think my heart would flip if companions really mentioned things that happened in DA2 on a more emotion-driven level.
CrookedAsylum wrote...
There needs to be a group for this. An "I Support a PC with Emotions" group.
I would join the crap out of that group! I would join it so hard, the join button would fall off. And then it would spontaneously pop back on again from the sheer vigor of my epic joining!

Stoics are hot. Like, really hot.
I'll raise my hand and agree. I'm dating my boyfriend of three years
specifically because he's calm with a monotone voice a good chunk of the
time, and when I can niggle any sense of emotion out of him, it is
exciting and interesting. Especially when I out of VERY few people in
his circle know exactly how to do it. There is a certain level of power,
being the one person who is capable of breaking the other person's
typical character.
Definitely. It's awesome to be that person in a stoic's life, that brings something out of them that they don't or can't normally show--I swear, it's good for them to have somebody who can do that, and I think in part that that's why they fall in love with a person who has that effect on them. I think relationships tend to be right when each of you brings out in the other person what they need to learn, just by virtue of being who you are. That's very organic, and it feels wonderful. I think you and your guy are lucky to have each other.

Yet Alistair expects the PC to put up with all his crying about Duncan over and over.
See, that's the kind of thing that made me want to bite my mouse cord in half. Because SHUT UP ALISTAIR. No seriously, I love you, but SHUT UP ALISTAIR. Because my feelings matter too, dammit. Here's how it works: if you can whine, I can whine. If I can't whine, you can't whine. So shut up, Mr. Jerkypants, you're an insensitive pair of buttocks.
*blinks* Okay, remembering how childish it seemed to me seems to make me think like a kid again.
But seriously, Alistair! I don't even know whether I should be blaming him or whether it was just time limitations/money constraints that forced them to gloss over the tasty bits. It's hard because I can kinda see it being his personality to be so self-absorbed because he is immature in ways, but I'm not completely sure of the reason why he acted that way.
Ah, well... hopefully Fenris's romance (assuming there is one) will be more reciprocal.

I would fall off my chair in shocked delight. Seriously, right off my chair. If you see a scene like that, you can know that at some point my posterior will be gracing the floor, which will probably land my nose right next to my dachshund's bed, causing her to slurp my nose in surprised confusion.
Then I'll have to reload and watch it again because I didn't see the whole thing the first time. But if it's good enough, I won't mind.

We already know Isabela is open to at least a physical relationship with another woman, and as Sarielle pointed out, that as well is an overdone steriotype. Doesn't mean they can't or won't do it, just that it has been done before.
I loved at that last Varic/Fenris convo.

How does this apply to Fenris? Isabela (from what I can tell at least) copes with her problems by reaching out to other people (for sex, duels, or a good time in general) she's a free spirit who likes to run around because it helps her stay away from her troubles.
Fenris on the other hand would appear to work the other way, he reaches into himself in order to deal with his problems. He'll sit in the corner of camp and mull over his thoughts. At least until Hawke decides to walk over with an emotional crowbar and pry him open.

SO.
Basically, for some reason, I got DAII. No idea how. I was playing the beginning and I was like spazzing out and I made a forum topic about it, as well.
So, basically Hawke starts out in some weird village with drows and then he meets Isabela and is like HEY WHASSAP and then they board her ship. Varric is like swinging from the mast with some odd pirate hat on and a hilarious troll doll expression like this, Aveline is just chillin... and Fenris? Yeah. Lol. Okay. In my dream, Fenris turns out to be insanely tall and has bow legged feet like an ogre and he has a really hilarious ogre-like voice. Like this, kinda. So, I was still all excited at the prospects so I get Hawke to talk to him, and he's like, "ME NO TALK, GO AWAY HAWKE." and so im like, "Okay. Guess he's not a romance after all..." and I was really stumped. Yeah.
THEN! I woke up in my dream and realised it wasn't real and I got back on the forums and was saw I actually wrote a topic about it for real and I wrote, 'SORRY GUYS I WAS SLEEP TYPING" or something. I felt really bad. AHA.
The end.

Hawke: ( muttering, half-asleep) You know you're pretty cute for an ogre.
Meanwhile in Fenris' section of the Fade
Fenris: Alright, where am I, what am I doing here, and what the the name of the Maker is my girlfriend dreaming of?

Isabela's character is pretty interesting to me. From what we get in DAO her husband (herein called Mr. Izzy) most likely abused her. So when Zev came to kill her husband Isabela in my mind set out on her newly acquired ship and started life off as a pirate.
That's not what I got. I just figured she was in an arranged marriage to some fat old man that she hated. I hope there's no abuse angle.

And dreams do come true. ;D
@Saibh I didn't get the feeling she'd been abused by her husband, either. It was more like a restlessness from being bound to one man. Was he, like, a trading company owner or something (thus having a ship and money)? I wonder what the reasons were behind his assassination...
