Bwahaha..I am not sorry MRC. You know, it doesn't bother me killing Gid voiced ppl in skyrim. I just... they aren't the same in any way so I really don't connect them. Though I will go "sorry gideon" when I kill one, lol.

Much like in SWTOR i killed a whole bunch of Adam Howdens and every time went "im so sorry Adam!" Lol. Yet I don't think of them as Fenris or Anders, but as the VAs they are. I think it is kind of insulting to their performance as Fenris and Anders to say randomly voiced chatacters "sound like ---" I mean, they put in so much effort to some roles and I think that deserves distinction. *shrugs* probably just me though.

Meh, Half the time you don't even know when your seeing Gideon he changes his VA style so well. But once I do know it's like an addiction I just have to listen to them talk. lol.

I have no idea what's going on in here, where the topic is or whatever, but does anyone know if there's a real reason why Fenris was branded with Lyrium? What effect did it have on him?

Have you played the game? Fenris explained this pretty clearly in game. Also, his backstory can be found on Dragon Age Wiki:

Once a slave of Danarius, a Tevinter Magister, Fenris bears markings of lyrium on his skin that have granted him the unnatural ability to phase through solid objects; however, the experiments performed on him also caused him to lose all of his memories. The limits of his phasing power are unknown, but Fenris uses this ability mostly as an unexpected
weapon, phasing through individuals and solidifying, killing them violently.

I'm currently near the beginning of Act 3...and I don't recall anything about phasing through solid objects, that sounds pretty wild.

He had phased through quite a few human beings in ACT 1 and 2and all of them are quite bloody.

That's how Fenris have his entrance in ACT 1. How did you manage to pick him up without even trigger it?

EDIT:

I need something to calm down.

Wow... not a big deal? It is kind of like missing the fact that Isabela is a pirate captain. It is beyond blatantly obvious. Seriously, we are all for answering questions, but I'm with the others in the "how did you play the game and recruit Fenris without putting these things together?"

Guess some people really just don't pay attention. A friend of mine played DA and literally hit esc at every cutscene because it was "too much talking." I was like "it's a story driven RPG wtf is the point of playing it if you don't want to see the story?!" Lol.

Anyway... back on topic... this page is lacking some Fenris I can't post TOP from work :(

@Arquen, I thought I was the one being too wind up. My temper went up as soon as I read 'a real reason why Fenris was branded with Lyrium? What effect did it have on him?' Side effect of having an ADHD children at home and hit PMS this time of the month.

@EternalAmbiguity, srsly, if you don't get those backstory straight before you blunder into a thread and ask question, people are going to ****** off. Not that we are not patient or anything, but some stuff are really there if you pay some attention when you play the games.

EDIT Lack of Fenris art? Here I come!

Nice, dual wielding Fenris! :happy:Please don't smite me for this potential blasphemy, but I've always thought dual wielding would have suited Fenris much better. It's such a pity Bioware left the dual wielding warrior out of DA2. I know there's no  "real" reason why elves wouldn't be able to use a two-handed blade, but considering how lean they've made the elves look in this game, a fighting style that was more quick and nimble would have fit better, I think. I have had thought this since his character was announced and a saw a picture of him. The association "dual wielding" just popped up.:P Fenris would certainly have looked bad-ass with two swords in his hands.
Plus, with the bend back he shows all the time when you stand still for a moment, it almost looks like that big blade is too heavy for him or something and he will end up with a hernia.

I watched Takers with Emery Gideon playing as a russian mob. He looked...extremely creepy. He truly does look like a ruthless mob.

But his voice... mmm...

As much as I love the greatsword I think a dual wielding Fenris would have been fantastic. With some of those sexy rogue animations. I also just got a vision of Fenris dual wielding greatswords. That would have been beyond awesome, lol. Sadly, it also would be a bit over the top. As far as posture, yeah it has to be the sword, but also the way he walks on the balls of his feet make it appear the weight is not much of a burden. It might just be more comfortable to walk that way. *shrug*

Fenris dual weilding greatswords. Maker's breath Arquen, don't give me mental images like that. I just snorted coffee all over my keyboard.

I always thought his 'primal stance' was to up the intimidation factor seeing as he walks pretty upright and stands fairly straight in some cutscenes. It might just be a throwback of his bodyguard days when he was meant to be seen as a threat, at least thats how I imagine it. Though widening his stance and rounding his shoulders would even out the weight of the sword more.

I should really come in here more often -sigh-

Mr. Emery had changed his profile picture on FB.

Ohyummy.

*offtopic, I know.*

It's Fenris' voice actor. He's one of the major contributors to Fenris's squee-worthiness. Sure it's on topic.

*stares*

Hmmm is it wrong I wanna picture him as Fenris...dress as Balthier shouting out words of power at dragons while  punching out mechanical zombies zombies?
If so then Im a complete geek for thinking that..spot the references.

You mean this one?

(Not counting DA because we're in the DA2 Forums...)
1.) FFXII
2.) Skyrim, clearly. (Now, what words should he be using? That is the question...)
3.) Uhh... I think I need to break out of the fantasy genre for a little and try some horror games with zombies.

And it's not wrong at all... I was worried I was going to get a "you freaky ass woman" for thinking Fen's VA is one yummy hot-cake.

Oh, and... *Dumps a load of cookies on to the forum floor*

That fanart exists actually. Fenris as balthier.. at work or i would find it for you.

Ahh the voice. You know I love Fenris for so much more than the voice, but I can't imagine him with any other voice. It's almost unexpected how deep, steady, and fluid it seems. How it perfectly coincides with the manner in which he speaks. I seriously can't imagine another voice being as fitting.

Gahh work.. I don't wanna be here :(

I hate you. It's freezing freaking cold out there, but now you made me open the window.

Sorry double post, but the zombie reference is for a game that came out early this year for the XBOX kinect called "Rise of Nightmares" with Ol Giddy playing the main role...never heard his voice since I watched a gameplay through "Two Best Friends Play" so I was trying to breathe inbetween laughter.

But yeah that voice is a sin in itself....Im surprised there isnt a panty shortage and cries of outburst when women's undergarmets explode into flames whenever he speaks.

I completely agree!  He has a delicious voice, but I do agree with Arquen that he is part of what makes Fenris Fenris - the rest is fabulous character development and dialogue.  But Mr Gideon is scrumptious!Posted Image

And @Eternal - welcome to the thread!  I'm surprised that you hadn't noticed any "phasing" by Act III but I will admit that I rewatched the recruitment cut scene to understand what he had just done.  It happens very quickly there.  Of course if you skipped it (like my hubby sometimes does as well!) you wouldn't have seen it.  Although the rest of the characters all mention it at some point during banter.

This fic was posted on the kink meme, and I... well, I just thought I'd post the link here and share it because it's just too darn tragically beautiful not to share. It's about Fenris getting killed.

HOWEVER, MAJOR WARNING: You WILL sob HARD. You will cry like you've never cried before and you won't be able to do anything about it. I cried so hard, I was shaking all over and I could barely breathe in between sobs.

Yeah. It's THAT BAD.

To all those who are brave enough to read it and end up NOT crying: well... you'd be super-human if you didn't cry.

Ladies and gentlemen of the Fenris Thread, I present to you: Lacrimosa.

Oh, and I HIGHLY recommend reading the fic while listening to the recommended soundtrack. YOU MUST DO THIS! Choose Dumbledore's farewell because Maker's breath, it's just perfect for the fic.

You have been warned.

I did not cry, surprisingly, but I did choke up. I flarking hate death scenes.

Lol, Arquen, dual wiedling greatswords. xD Yeah, no, that would be a bit too much, haha. Poor Fenris would probably fall on his back and be unable to get up if he had to carry two of those heavy things around.:P
I don't see the hunched shoulders as an intimidating stance, to be honest... :?It looks more like he's tired or something, like his sword is really, really heavy. He does stand up normally in his cutscenes. He only slumps his shoulders if he's sad in then. Hmm, oh well. It doesn't matter that much. I just find it a bit odd.
Dual wielding would have looked so good on him, though. It's symmetrical, and I like symmetrical. He already has the symmetry in his markings, so a sword in both hands would have suited very well.

Edit: oh, wait, I actually have a (perhaps a bit stupid) question. It's just, it's stated everywhere Fenris has spend time with the Qunari (or Tal-Vashoth, actually), but in the game they are only referred to as the "Fog Warriors". I was just wondering how everyone knows that the Fog Warriors were Tal-Vashoth. I never got that until I read it on the wiki and the forums. Is Fenris speakiing the Qunari tongue the only clue you get in the game, or did I still miss something in all of my play throughs?

Wait.... if he singlehandedly wiped out the Fog Warriors and they're Tal Vashoth... Why the hell can't he do that in my games? And why do I keep DYING in those fights?

I was under the impression that the Fog Warriors were not of 1 race uniformly, but I can't remember where, and I'm in the middle of a group study session and can't get too distracted by the Wiki to track it down.

Tal'Vashoth would be cool though - I had seen that fan art and ... yeah, good stuff.
