Cloudywolf makes me want to pencil draw again. Dat Hawke's hair, Dat shading on Fenris. The pose. Hnnnggg... love it.
Ninja posting... I've officially been obsessed with Dragon Age and Fenris for 11 months... and no signs of me letting up yet. WTF. These things this character has done to/for me.. I can't even...

And expect chapter 48 of Coffee, Black to surface sometime VERY soon! BCI (the author) is all done with it and a very good friend of hers has already read it!
GAHHH, I CAN'T WAIT!

Also, I'm myth. I've mostly been hanging out in the Thane thread (my other Favourite Bioware character) over in the ME3 section of the BSN because that's currently what I'm playing at the moment, along with Skyrim when I'm not getting eaten by Saber Cats.
As such I haven't played DA2 or even DA:O for a little while so I have nothing of worth to add to the current discussion, and all my Fenris-mancers were
So anyway, farewell, and I hope I see you all soon.

Interesting! I never knew that. I'm playing as a male Hawke for the first time (6th playthrough; I should be ASHAMED of myself) and I was wondering whether there would be slight discrepancies here and there. Good to know that there are. Shows that Bioware really put some thought into the whole romance thing.
Bolded for truth; I've noticed it more in Mass Effect, but I do like how the main character's gender can and does enter into things and they aren't just carbon-copied.)
I agree it's good it's acknowledged, but I find the situation where it is said less fitting. I mean, isn't it a bit late to ask whether being with a man is a problem? A remark about the m/m thing in the speak to Fenris quest or his questioning beliefs seems more logical to me, instead of after the love scene: oh, hey Hawke is male too, mehh, that doesn't work out for me after all. Or maybe a remark about it in one of the afore mentioned quests and then after the love scene the question whether it is weird for Fenris to be with a man after all. I don't know, it just took me a bit by surprise that it's recognized for the first time after you've had sex, while you've been flirting with Fenris numerous times without it ever being worth mentioning.

I always loved the "It can be a lot to take in.." line in the male romance. The "omg you did not just say that!" Factor went up 10 fold. I only have one male Hawke and he romanced Izzy so I never saw it except on youtube, but yeah there are subtle differences in each romance between m/f.
The sarcastic remark is gender specific as well? What does female Hawke say then?
And hello, new person.

I believe Lady Sarcasta-Hawke says something about needing to get Fen some better dreams. I could be wrong, though, someone else will have to double check.renjility wrote...

Haha, okay, thank you. I assume the aggressive option is different for the two genders as well then. I have a save to try the aggressive male one, but I don't remember what my aggressive fem Hawke said.
Since I needed to take a break from my current DAO playthrough where I'm in the middle of the deep roads, I decided to reload my F!Hawke diplomatic mage rivalmance, for science!
Diplo response (Was it the pain?) "Your markings, they hurt don't they?"
Snarky response (You need better dreams) "Oh, I can come up with much crazier things in my dreams."
Aggressive response (But that's it?) "This is as far as it goes then?"

Arquen, some very few people have been able to get it in their games with a male Hawke all along? But I still don't, even fully patched, and neither do most of the people I know. So yes, it's probably a bug, but it's not one that's been fixed. :/
Hmm... I was thinking it might be something like this. I am pretty sure they at least know about it, but like Legacy and Zevran it will probably just remain "one of those things."
April pretty much answered the other question, LOL. I'm not sure what male Hawke says since I've only romanced Fenris with Fem!Hawke as well. I just know the snarky response is different for sure.
Usually in my PT's I go with the aggro response only because the diplo one makes me cringe.. "the markings hurt, don't they?" *facepalm* NO, Hawke.. it isn't that. Even on my first PT when I chose that option I kind of cringed and went "I don't think so..." Then the snarky response makes me smile, but I feel like it is too consciously naive or just simply too deflecting for my tastes. I like the blunt, straight to the point... "This is as far as it goes, then?" Unfortunately, on the xbox (and maybe ps3 too) that aggro option can sometimes break the romance. PC FTW.
Also,
WELCOME NEW PERSON! *Passes a plate of freshly baked cookies*
We love

I've just reloaded my male mage rival romance, and it turns out the aggressive response is the same.
@ Arquen: I don't find inquiring about the markings and the pain a strange thing to do. Maybe you're right it's likely not the big reason for Fenris being upset, but it could have added to his confusion.

Just me though, probably, and that scene is very personal for each Hawke any way. I just prefer to go for the aggro option. It suits my personal preference best.

OMG OMG OMG!
*dies*
EDIT: It's intense. It's the most intense freaking thing I've read in a long, long time. I'm just... swamped with emotion and hollowness at the same time, if that even makes sense.
I just.
I can't.
I think I'm going to go away and curl up in bed and just...
Yeah. I'm gone.

And the "It can be a LOT to take in" ... okay, it's fine for sarcastic Hawke. I'm used to him saying VASTLY inappropriate things at the most crucial moment lol

Ah ... what?! This is unsettling. I didn't know F!Hawke had different lines after the love scene. To be quite honest, I very much dislike the diplomatic and sarcastic M!Hawke lines ... both of them! The whole, "Is it because I'm a man?" thing is is just ... annoying? I was in this happy fantasy place where a lovely male elf and a hot male human can fall in love and la tee da and ... oh, Thedas has bigots?! I mean, obviously Hawke wouldn't ask Fenris this question if he thought Fenris wasn't bi or gay. He's asking because he's worried Fenris has a PROBLEM being with another man. You don't make out and then make glorious love if you aren't both physically into it.
And the "It can be a LOT to take in" ... okay, it's fine for sarcastic Hawke. I'm used to him saying VASTLY inappropriate things at the most crucial moment lol
Actually Thedas does have it's bigots, or at least the view of s/s as not the norm even though it's more accepted then in the usual medieval European fantasy world or even the current western world. (One of the reasons I got a little leary of lines that made The Chantry seem more like Christianity with the 'suicide is a sin' lines and so on, I always figured that the Chantry never really addressed what people should/shouldn't do in the bedroom as one of the reasons most people don't care who you sleep with) You have Gamlens lovely comments and back in DA:O when you talk to Zevran it does give the impression he knows some people would take issue with his bisexuality and there are dialogue options the warden could take that reflect that and a party banter implies that Fereldans are a bit more conservative then people in other places. Anders brings up Karl in a way that seems like he's testing to see where Hawke stands with it.
It does seem weird to have the line after they've 'had their bedroom activities' and the "It was better then anything I could have dreamed" line...but I kind of read it as Hawke feeling a bit insecure, after all Fenris is dressed and ready to leave so something is obviously bothering him and maybe that's just the first thing that Hawke thinks of, or maybe he's had that happen before

@myth - nice to see you on this thread too!
I've never played a m!Hawke either - and I've completed 6 PTs. I really will have to get on that at some point and it is nice to see that there are some subtle differences. I always wondered...
More Coffee, Black! Argh, I'm still not fully caught up! At least I know I have lots of reading material....
All the new Fenpics are wow - just wow. So many talented artists. That pencil one by Cloudywolf777 really is amazing.
I realize this is going to be totally blasphemous in the Fenris thread...but did anyone NOT recruit him on any PT?

*Don't hit me; I bruise easily!* /Alistair
Actually, I almost did - then I found out that skipping "Bait and Switch" because it annoys Aveline when you first take the quest is a bad idea - and restarted.
So no, I didn't miss recruiting Fenris, but I did have a close call!
