I did one PT where I recruited him but didn't have him in the party at all, so none of his personal quests came  up (sister, etc) and he ended up siding against me and had to die.

Okay, I have finished what I initially wanted to write. I'm mostly satisfied with it, I think. First I only got the idea for the end of A Bitter Pill, but as soon as I started writing my brain went like "jaaaaaaaaaaaay!!" and ran off, making up more and more things along the way.=] Sooo, I'm not done yet, haha. I guess my imagination missed making things like that up. I used to write a story on the Sims 2 site, with pictures of sims included, lol. That is already a few years ago, and it was in Dutch, so this was a whole different challenge.

Anyway... I humbly ask the readers of the Fenris thread if they can find the time and will to honor me by reading what I have written. :innocent:

So... uh... yeah, that's my request. Link: www.fanfiction.net/s/7633034/1/Magics_Touch

Yup.  No other way for me to romance Anders and stay faithful to him :P

Every time I start to miss the Fenmeister I pause that game and start up a new one, with a new Hawke ... where I romance Fenris again *sigh* <3

....i've only had 1.5 playthroughs... and both were with Fenris. but i agree with moto... thats the only way i would ever be able to faithfully romance anyone else.

i think i will only romance him with guys anyway though. i'm not sure why. it just fits for me.

I think because it makes him even more vulnerable ... even more cuddly

But also, for me, if I play as a girl, I have to romance someone I'd be attracted to in real life, and there's just no way I'd be (honestly) attracted to a moody little skinny binny like Fenris.  I think he attracts women who are into artists, musicians, the Lord Byron types.

CHAPTER 48 OF COFFEE, BLACK IS UP!

OMG OMG OMG!

*dies*

EDIT: It's intense. It's the most intense freaking thing I've read in a long, long time. I'm just... swamped with emotion and hollowness at the same time, if that even makes sense.

I just.

I can't.

I think I'm going to go away and curl up in bed and just...

Yeah. I'm gone.

I know. I read that and just... flailed at the emotion, and the pain, and the..the...everything. God, I'm hoping they DON'T run into Dan. I just... I want to see Gare-bear win the national championship , and go home with Fen and have a happy life.

how true, as looking at my past that is what I go for, I have a thing for lanky moody type.

I think we should discuss the surprise about the rivalry response upon gifting the sword to Fenris in this thread!!

I didn't really cry when reading chapter 48. I teared up a bit, but it was more of this profound river of emotions pulsing through me. I was so... affected. But not in a crying way. I think it went beyond that. I was so struck by the profoundness of it all that I couldn't cry, I think. I was just... empty. It was beautiful.

On another note, while I would never skip Bait and Switch intentionally, I could see that it's easy to miss out on it accidentally. What if you never read the letter and picked up the quest? What if you did, but just... forgot about it? But yeah- skipping it INTENTIONALLY. I can never understand why. But, I'm just an incredibly biased Fengirl after all.;)

I've never not recruited Fenris, and . . . I've yet to successfully not romance him, though I have one playthrough where I'm /trying/ to rivalmance Anders.

It's not going well.

But, I've finished three playthroughs, all of which were with Fenris, and have several more in progress, all but one of which are with Fenris. I . . . may be slightly monogamous, yes. Two of the playthroughs I finished were with the same male rogue Hawke, just slightly different versions of him; the third was a male mage Hawke. I have a couple fem!Hawkes (rogue and mage respectively) in Acts II and III, a male warrior in Act II, and and female warrior in Act I. I'm terrible at playing warriors, they're my slowest-moving playthroughs . . .and only the male warrior isn't romancing Fenris. But they are absolute best friends (and who am I kidding, he's probably going to end up romancing Fenris anyways, because I cannot keep away from our elf).

Now this I find interesting. It isn't true for me at all. My "type" -- if I even have one is more like Male Hawke (minus the beard because I don't really like beards). I'm not into artsy types or lanky types or lithe musician types. At least, I don't have a track record with those kinds of guys.

For Fenris I wasn't attracted to his appearance (OMG WHAT!?) but the character he is, and the person he is. Then it sort of built into a truly physical attraction to him. Those eyes, that hair, the way he walks/moves, all clean lines and angled features, the shrug of his shoulders, the nod of his head. The way Hawke's arms fit so perfectly around his small figure. Yet nothing about him seems "skinny" or "weak." So expressive, and intimidating as all hell when angry. Yet, the initial attraction wasn't the "OMG SO CUTE/HOT!" whatever. I knew nothing of Fenris before I loaded up the game. I hadn't visited the forums. I knew nothing. I was in the dark completely -- My first game was the whole experience with fresh eyes. Fenris was the one who jumped out at me the most. The one who just hit all those personal traits and notes that I love in a character. I was attracted to him because of his broodiness, because of his anger, because of his manner of speaking, his expressive features, his complete BAMF!ness. All this drew me to him from the FIRST cutscene.

As for recruiting him. I wonder if my boyfriend hadn't told me to "be sure to go check your house! You will like the surpise!" for Bait and Switch then I might have missed it on my first PT. Having no knowledge of anything and any companions I might just have passed him over, but I don't think so. I check things often and I would go back to my house frequently to see if there were any new developments. I've never not recruited him. I have started up 3 mages now .. one of which I was sure was going to romance Anders, but NOPE, couldn't do it. Fenris just makes me happy, and so I couldn't do it.

I have 8 PTs and only 1 is not a Fenris romance. That one is my male Archer who romanced Isabela. I've never romanced him with a male. I don't mind the M!Hawke/Fenris romance, but it isn't my preference. I like playing female characters, and I adore female Hawke. I like Male Hawke, but I don't like him as much as fem!Hawke. I think I might be weird there, too. LOL. I keep telling myself one day I will do that Anders romance, but I couldn't ever NOT recruit Fenris. He would have to be there. I couldn't imagine going through the game without him. It would be so empty... I would constantly miss him and his convos and his cutscenes and his banters. Even if he was my BFF only, DA2 just isn't the same without him.

Arquen, I don't think you are weird for liking F!Hawke over M!Hawke xD To each her own. Although everything you described about him, the broodiness, the anger, etc. is what turns me off in a man. I can't stand those kinds of guys in real life. That plus his appearance (thin) is what makes it pretty much impossible for me to be "into" him in that way. But regardless, he is my FAVORITE character (of course) and his broodiness becomes all the more adorable when he's being teased by my (HOT N YUMMY) M!Hawke.

I'm with you!  That has never been my type.  And I was the same - I never looked up anything about DA2, but Fenris had me with that entrance, and then his voice...that sultry, powerful voice.  I then realized he was attractive just by his movements and behaviour.  And now I'm a devoted (read addicted!) Fengirl! Posted Image

I would be the exception to your thinking.  I usuallly hate the artist, broody Lord Bryon types.  I go for the exact opposite in real life and I like Fenris (okay he isn't my favourite romance ever).  He won over my Hawke (FemHawke I too have not done the MHawke/Fenris romance).  He wasn't my first romance in this game.  My first was MHawke, I forget why, who romanced Izzy.  But I came to really like Fenris in the playthrough.  He was my MHawke best buddy.  The next game my FemHawke romanced him.  I was attracted by his character and the growth he displays during the game.  It's not perfect nor is it complete but he is trying to find himself and his place in this world.  There are times I want to grab him and say " oh stop it with the mages" etc..but I find his good points outweigh the bad.  I like his intelligence and in the spirit of being honest I love his voice.

Hello, you're in the Fenris thread! ;) We do this daily!

Seriously, though...I don't tend to go for brooders IRL - I've never really been into the dark haunted guy thing. In fact, Hubby is a wonderful (and odd) mix of optimism and cynicism, which is one of the many things I love about him! However, in fantasy, it's tons of fun, and Fenris does happen to fit a mold I find very physically attractive. (I am a very lucky lady - my husband is less muscle and similarly lanky, but yeah...the build similarity (and the eyes if he wears the right color) are there.<3) And that voice...Mmmmm. :)

Come to think of it, other than Fenris and Nathaniel Howe, I haven't really gone for the broody guys in BW games much. Alistair isn't the type, and the Garrus romance is remarkably low-angst if you aren't going for the love triangle (which I don't). Anders' transformation made me very sad (I assumed I was going to be romancing him until I actually had started the romance in Act II on the 1st PT), and I can't deal with Kaidan, sorry to any Kaidan fans out there. Jacob annoys me for reasons I can't articulate very well, and Thane is interesting character but his story just doesn't resonate with me like those of Fenris, Alistair, or Garrus.

I prefer to play female characters, and I just...can't handle romancing any of the ladies with my females. One of these days, I may have to do an M!Hawke, but I've seen Merrill's and Isy's romances in DA and Liara and Miranda in ME, and my hubby is far more willing to romance the ladies 'for science'. ;) (I had to laugh - now he's doing a Fem!ShepxLiara -  which I can't bring myself to do, darn you, Garrus! - but it is very satisfying to see.)

I think Arquen said she was a game monogamist - I have to agree. I am aware Zev has a good romance from everything I've ever heard, but Dat Alistair...

Back to Fenris - He's really the only LI in DA2 that appeals to me. That might have been different if Varric was romancable (*peers at the devs again*), but I'm not sorry about this fact. :)

I quote you on the fact cause yes, my god, I could never go for the moody little blighters due to 3 thingd.
1.Im a little sullen back humored brooder at heart so the fact like attracts like leave me clueless.
2.Thanks to bioware I have an insane gamegirl crush on Nathienal. Fenris and Thane...only to have a screeching hault in thoughts to slap them and scream 'smile dammit!'
3. ......I think Im just week towards men with deep voices. Put on some Al Green, Bill Withers or Bobby Womack accompanied by their voice....lets just say winter is met with some unreasonibly hot weather all of a sudden.<3

Unf.....gonna go sit outside in the windchill for a moment.

ME TOO!   i may at some point romance Anders... but I'm SO annoyed at him.... I just don't think i want to.

I do agree that M!Hawke is pretty hot... I LOVE goatees though. like, a lot.    and i think that the Hawke that i came up with is probably the sexiest thing on the planet..... so yeah.   thanks bioWare for giving me those options. :D

and really, isn't half of the Bioboards for fangirling and squeeing and going on liek we're in high school?  thats half the fun. :D

I've started (and even finished some XD) numerous playthroughs, and in all of them I've romanced Fenris. Its rather pathetic, actually, but I've been unable to pull myself away from him. I think part of it may be like one person said on the forums, in that most of the other romanceable companions have some major importance in the story (Anders for what happens in Act 3, Isabela for Act 2) and by having Fenris as my LI, I bring him more into the story.

For nearly all of my Lady Hawkes---being a girl and because I can never find a look I like, I tend not to play as a m!Hawke---the reason why they even pursue a relationship with Fenris is completely accidental. They start off either wanting to help him find peace from Danarius, wanting to change his opinion of all mages being bad news or because they were unable to resist his puppy eyes :P. Gradually, through conversations and general day-to-day interactions, they see different facets to his personality, and what was once as a budding friendship/friendly rivalry turns into genuine love. I have never played it where Hawke goes to Anders or another companion after "that night" with Fenris, mainly because my Hawkes force themselves to stand in Fenris' non-existent shoes. They see where he's coming from and decide to wait until he's ready to move forward.

The other LIs play different roles for me. Anders is the friend that I try (and ultimately fail) to save from going down a road of self-destruction. Isabela is the best friend that can cheer Hawke up after a particularly bad day with dirty jokes and booze. Merrill is the sweet little mage that sort of takes Bethany's place as kid sister of the group.

Okay, now that I got that out of my system, I started a new playthrough with today that I am tentatively calling my canon playthrough. It is my first character that I'm using a complete DAO import on, DLCs included. When I got to the part where Fenris confronts me about being a mage (this is after fighting through Danarius' mansion) I found myself being hopelessly distracted by the background music. I know that it was his theme, since people have mentioned it here several times, but that didn't stop me from trying to listen to it during the scene. I actually found myself missing all of Fenris' dialogue and had to replay just so I answered things properly. It was interesting to say the least. :D

And just because there can never be enough Fenris:

Yep, this thread is definitely for squeeee-ing!!  Posted Image

And I can't get past Alistair in DAO either - he's just so yummy.  As for Jacob, he irritates me, and Kaidan's voice I love but could never get into him as a LI.  Thane is my weakness in ME realm, only because Garrus is my crimd fighting broPosted Image.  I get why he's lots of people's LI, but my Shep wants to keep him as a friend...

Back to Mr. Broody - @tankgirly - that picture is so beautiful!  And I agree that having Fenris as your Li does bring him into the story more.  I will admit I do like that he doesn't have an "event" that changes the story, because other than dealing with Danarius and his hate of mages (which doesn't necessarily "get in the way"), he's there for my Hawke, not for his own bigger plan, like saving his own hide like Izzy or "dealing" with the templar/mage issue like Anders

And I just thought this was cute....

Fenris as one of Santa's elves LOLOL BAD IDEA!

Ohh gosh I wonder if there are any men I really am attracted to in DA:O or DA2 (haven't played ME). I would say Cullen, but he seems more and more high-maintenance, so I'm knocking him off the list. Of course there's the Arishok, but I won't get into my fascination with HIM *cough* *wipes drool from mouth*

I like a lot of the older guys. Emeric was pretty hot. That guy, Captain Ewald, I think, at the beginning of DA2 regulating on Fereldan immigrants entering the city was nom nom yummy. Maybe Nathaniel Howe. He's a bit broody though.

You know what I would like ... I would like to transform into one of my dashing hot male Hawke's so I could hold and snuggle-wuggle my Fenbear in my arms.

Or do I really, secretly want to be Fenris, so ultra hot-n-manly Hawke will hold ME?

Ah, conundrums -_-
