Hi everyone! Hope everyone had great holidays and will be having great new years!
I have been lurking even though I'm quiet XD Just thought I'd pop in to offer my 2 cents on alternate Fenris pairings.

I am actually not a fan of Sebastian/Fenris. When I first heard about the banter between them I thought it was cute.... but then after actually hearing the dialogue and the tone Sebastian used with Fenris just made him sound really insincere to me. It's the same patronising tone he uses with Merrill and the 'So have you heard about The Chant Of Light?' bit
Just...ick... no. It always sounds to me like he's just trying to make Fenris a more devout chantry follower rather then actually taking an interest in him as a friend or anything else. I can't help but see Sebastian as being manipulative and patronising towards Fenris and the more I think about it the more the pairing fills me with Do No Want.

Fenders I actually like more XD but it has to be done in the way that I 'buy' it. I always see the attraction starting from Anders side since he has a few banters where he reaches out or seems to be demanding validation from Fenris, that and the Lyrium/Justice thing. I can never see them in a 'loving' relationship, not like either could have with Hawke but I can see the tension falling into sexual tension and a grudging admission that they can relate to one another even if they never say so out loud. So a fic going over how they can go from the arguing we see in game to either hatesex or circumstances that force them to see they've suffered in similar ways are the ones I like, as soon as anything lovey-dovey comes up though it tends to loose me unless the fic's really 'earned' it.

I do like Isabela/Fenris, Fenris is happy with it, Isabela is happy with it, once Izzy gets her ship back I could see them cruising about together for a while, no matter how long it lasts they seem to be very honest with each other about what they want so it makes me happy for them.

I think Fenris is happy with Isabela, for now. I'm not sure how long it would last tho. I just can't picture Seb with ANYONE. He's so full of his own problems.

I hope this hasn't been posted before. If so, SORRY!

Honestly, it's hard for me to see Fenris with anyone but Hawke. I'm only just now accepting Isabela and Fenris together.

That's the one I absolutely CANNOT see!!!  I mean, there's the scene in Act III when Isabela tells Fenris he could become a raider and join her on her adventures, and he's all, You don't even have a ship!!  It's such a mean burn LOL And then she finally gives up and walks out, rolling her eyes.

I think Isabela is wildly attracted to Fenris.  He gives in at some point because he is a PERSON with NEEDS and GOD HE JUST WANTS SEX ALREADY!  I mean, he does seem to tolerate her, maybe even sees her as a friend.  But I don't think there's any kind of relationship there.

Well as I said, I'm only just now starting to come around to the idea. When I first heard that if you don't fully romance Fenris, the two of them will hook up I was all 'DO NOT WANT

Nowadays, I think that it can turn into something sweet, especially if Isabela is anything like how she would if if you had romanced her (being uncertain of her feelings and whatnot). From a writer's perspective, I think it might be interesting to see what would happen if what had simply started off as a 'friends with benefits' situation turned into something more. But that may just be the romantic in me.

I don't really mind the Izzy-Fenris thing, but I find it hard to see it in-character for Fenris, considering what a big deal his first night with Hawke turns out to be... Apparently his memory doesn't return when he sleeps with Isabela
, so perhaps that would make it less emotionally heavy for him or something.
Yet I can't really place the "just-for-sex" thing with Fenris, because he doesn't come across as the type for it. In the Blooming Rose he makes a comment about finding it disgusting. Of course paying for sex is something different than having sex with someone else for fun, but.... I don't know. I can't seem to fit it in.

@Ladyshamen: oooh, what a gorgeous drawing! I just love sexy images like that.

A thought I had today about the Issy/Fenris thing.

So it was revealed that DG had M!Hawke x Fenris in mind when he wrote that romance. Maybe throwing in the Issy/Fenris banter was a way to "de-gay" things up???

I mean think about it; the pairing just makes no SENSE! Anders/Issy makes loooooads more sense. I can actually see them together! Oh my, I'm kind of getting into that pairing now...

I love both Fenris and Isabela, and think that their romances are my favorites in DA2, but I can see why it's hard to picture them together.  Other than the suggestive banter, we don't get any real feel for how the relationship would work.  I do see that if Isabela is able to open up with Fenris the way she does with a romanced Hawke, it has potential, but just from what we see, I don't know if it counts as a relationship.  Although that Legacy banter was cute.

On a completely different note, Six Feet just ended, and I am both sad that it's over, and more in love with this story than ever.

I think that it could become something, as someone said. I think that Fenris at least can build on a base of respect since Isabela did free a shipload of slaves *and* came back with the tome (since this is a prerequisite for them to get together).  I would guess that this would go a long way towards making him consider the possibility. I agree that apparently since he doesn't have the same reaction (that we know of) that he does with Hawke that it's not as emotionally intimate, at least at first. With time, if they managed to survive as a couple, I wonder if it could get there though. Or, once Danarius is out of the picture, he's emotionally ready to at least try to move on, so that kind of intimacy isn't as potentially traumatic as it was in Act II. (Reference how he reconciles with Hawke after this too - he doesn't until after Danarius is dead.)

Just my 2 coppers, though.  :)

*sigh* There's always the Fenabela debate. So, here's my opinion on it.

1. The reason why Fenris does not have the same thing happening with Isabela (the whole Aaah memories thing after/during sex) is due to a) They do not have the same emotional closeness as Fenris/Hawke and B) The relationship starts after Act 3, where Danarius can die very early if you play it that way, and so Fenris is ready to move on at that point, whereas in Act 2 he's still stressing about Danarius and isn't really ready for emotional intimacy, but he tries to convince himself he can with Hawke.

2. Where the hell does the idea that Fenris doesn't enjoy her flirting come from - ****-shamers or bitter Fenmancers? He is usually snarky with Isabela when whatever she is saying is ridiculous, such as the whole "the crew of your non-existant ship" thing, which was silly, as she didn't have a ship. He was just pointing it out in his usual blunt way. If he's not in a relationship with Hawke, he is rather flirty towards Isabela, such as the whole "do you intend to go after me, then" thing, and he doesn't really object to her flirting overall. He never goes "stop your flirting I'm not interested." There is no hostility between them, Fenris just points it out when she's being silly.

3. The reason why it is harder to see them in a relationship is a) because they don't have a traditional relationship anyway - they are Friends with Benefits, not Star-Crossed Lovers and B) Almost all their interaction is off-screen or banter-only.

I need to post more often, rather than just popping up randomly to ramble and disappear!

LOL That's so cute. I wish we could actually read Anders' manifesto. I love that he stuffs copies of them all over Hawke's mansion. By the way, it always intrigues me that Hawde's friends leave stuff all over his/her house, indicating that they DO actually visit. I wish we could have a quest where Hawke hosts a dinner party or something...

Anders can read a bit to a Rival Hawke in Act 2. Can't remember what he says, though.

He says something about Andraste fearing magic because she fought against the Tevinters. And that if the Maker thought magic was bad, he wouldn't still gift people with it.

I would love to see the bolded part in a DLC (even as an aspect of something else, like the party in MotA) - or more companion visitation in future Dragon Age. :) Commenting on the dog is nice, but it leaves me wanting MOAR. ;)

i could never get into Fen and Isabela. which is partially cause i'm not a huge fan of Isabela and partially cause I'm really into Fenris with d00ds. *shrug* but i can see it happening in game completely and honestly, if I wasn't gonna romance him, i'd be cool with it... so long as he's enjoying himself. :D

I only friendmanced him, but if/when he read aloud to my Hawke, I'm sure my sarcastic little brat of a Hawke probably fell asleep within five minutes of magey ranting :P

You guys, let's petition for a Hawke mansion dinner party DLC.  Don't you know Anders and Sebastian would probably come to blows.  Fenris would get quietly drunk.  Isabela would start hitting on a confused Aveline.  (Donnic would watch with a wistful smile.)  Merrill pretending not to notice Carver's poorly disguised innuendos.  Varric and Hawke engaged in a drinking contest, ignoring the chaos around them.

Well, *that's* appropriate - I mail off a chapter to Arquen for critique, and as I'm attaching the file, Mr. Emery and his dulcet tones (Where or When from Standard Ease) come up on my iPhone. Well played, iTunes. Well played. :)

Also, for no real reason other than I like it (even if the costume isn't 100% accurate) here's a new MEG Deviation from Kew-Works

Dammit.. have to work and there is good DISCUSSION. Why do you guys always do this to me!? LOL.

Basically I am completely opposed to Fenders. Completely. I hate it. I hate it more than Sebris because even Sebris has some inkling of "I knew I liked you" and reaching out from Fenris and Sebastian. "If I say no will you try to convert me?" Also his "I see you've been thinking about what I said." Which, Fenris DOES think about what Seb says and respects Seb. This is KEY for Fenris.

Fenris has NO RESPECT for Anders. Hence I never see Anders and Fenris together, ever. I just don't see it. Not without changing something fundamental in each of their characters. Either make Fenris "understanding" and "forgiving" of Anders's Abomination status or Anders more patient and willing to accept the fact that Fenris disagrees and adamantly hates what he did with Justice. This is very OOC for both of them. Anders is "with me or against me" and Fenris will not ever, for any reason forgive or accept what Anders did with Justice.

There is no evidence to support it at all. No evidence to even support that they do anything more than tolerate each other's presence.

As for Fenribela -- I actually see it happening. Again because Fenris actually has some respect for Isabela. He returns her flirtations. He's a big boy and he knows his own limitations and himself. IF he didn't want to pursue Isabela or he didn't want her pursuing him then he would say so. He is rather stand offish at first "you've enjoyed many." Yet he also knows the difference between a truly selfish and heartless individual and someone who is just trying to be "twice as tough" as everyone else. He teases her. Even in MotA "That's our Isabela -- such a giver!" He has an interest in Isabela because of who she is and what she does. He doesn't ignore her faults, but he is willing to respect her as someone who is a good person underneath the facade she puts on. Again, respect is key with Fenris, and he can grow to respect Isabela. This can in turn grow into something more.

And I've run out of time. Quickie post because WORK.. JfkLDJFKL:JLEJJSL:JFLAIEIEOU!!!!
