Sorry, I still don't know much to say about the current slave discussion.

But, I have another potential subject for discussion. With writing, I have all these ideas swirling through my head, and now I have a question about his markings (not again the discussion we've had before): if, somewhere between act 2 and 3 (so before Danarius' death) mage Hawke (or maybe Anders) said "Hey! I know how to remove those markings of yours!" do you think Fenris would take that chance and allow the lyrium to be removed. I know he doesn't like having them, but on the other hand, he is relying heavily on them as well for the abilities they give him. He used it to kill Hadriana. So would he risk making himself more defenseless with Danarius still alive?

I would say he would be at least hesitant to let them be removed. After Danarius' death, he would be like "hell yeah", but before... I think the thought might scare him a little as well.

Edit: oh, top. Uhm... I'll try if I can post an image from deviant art, although I doubt it will work.

Edit 2: ugh, sorry.

I think that is a fascinating question.

I have a(n) (original) character who was born mute.  He lived poorly up until a certain age.  At some point, around 18 or 19 years old, he had to go to the hospital for a broken arm, and there the doctor or doctors did some tests and said they could try a procedure that might give him the ability to speak.  But he turned them down, and never told any of his friends about it either.

So I think Fenris might react similarly.  All his (known) life he's had those markings, and they have become part of who he is as a person.  Similarly to how he refuses to change his name, I think it is too frightening for him to choose to have the markings removed.

Did anyone enter the Dragon Age: Asunder writing competition? I just sent my entry in :) It was weird, writing fanfiction, but without any of our favorite characters. Probably a good thing since I think I fail at writing Fenris xD

Can't narrow down my story to less than 100 words. So ended up I gave up.

*shakes head* Not I said the wolf. I think I fare well just commenting and reviewing than doing said writing.

I didn't finish Asunder in time, and I tend to have trouble with 100 words or less to begin with. #maximumverbosity

(Bonus virtual non-fattening cookies to the first person to get the reference! :P)

Here's a Fenris, because I went off-topic. :) (Courtesy of X-ALexial-X - reminds me of LadyShamen's gorgeous screenie the other day)

Just to be safe I'm leaving it behind a link.

I was just playing Mass Effect 2 when I came upon this character named Captain Gavorn. I talked to him and during our conversation he laughed and I was like "that laugh sounds totally like Fenris". I repeated the conversation about 3 times until I knew for sure it was Gideon Emerys voice. I checked his voice actor bio just to be sure and I was right.
It just made my day to hear that voice and that cute laugh in such an unexpected place. Oh I love Fenris!

This is my first post here eventhough I have lurked about for a bit. I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I just wanted to share my little discovery that made me happy :)

Fenris does have suuuuuuch a cute laugh <3 He laughs so much more with sarcastic Hawke, too, than with diplo Hawke. D'awwww.

Erm, you guys know that only the summary has to be less than 100 words? You can just wrote something like, "This story is about a mage who attacks a group of templars" or something lol It's totally unimportant. The story itself had a word limit of 2500 words, and that's what's important.

He's the Turian just to the left of the door from the Normandy heading towards Afterlife. He says various things depending on what missions you've finished on Omega. Fun trivia bit - go talk to the quarian named Kenn, also on Omega. I bet his voice sounds familiar too. :)

I did; I wrote a Malcolm Hawke backstory piece I'd been kicking around for ages.

I was around 200 words in when I gave up. I had the most severe writer's block and just couldn't do it. Ah well, best of luck to you, moto!

I honestly would have loved to have submitted something but i just never have time. Between work and RL and SWTOR i barely find time to finish my own fenfic or my arts. *sigh*

I was watching some of my fraps and I started to miss DA so much. I missed Fenris and the gang so much. Almost as if they were real people I hadn't seen in forever and truly wanted to reconnect and meet up with, lol. I'm crazy aren't I?

Also many thanks for the comments on my Fen sketch, lol. I only called it craptacular because it is a bare bones sketch, and I hate my bare bones sketches. They are so wrong and horrible to me. *shrug*

My story featured human mages. There was an elf in the backstory of one of them but didn't make it to the final version owing to the word limit. If it hadn't needed to be limited to the point of view of a mage or templar, I think I would have tried something about Shartan. Outside of Fenris, he is the elf who fascinates me the most, although if he looked like the spirit in the Gauntlet then Fenris is way ahead of him on looks!

I invisaged slavery in Tevinter being more like ancient Rome, so how you are treated will vary greatly from master to master but at the end of the day you still have no rights to speak of and are at the mercy of your master's whims. Danarius was an absolute bastard, there's no doubting that. Like Arquen I could emphathise with Fenris and so could understand why he held the views he did, even more so after meeting his former master. My first play through, when I had no idea what was coming, was done as a mage. Initially I thought it would end up a rivalry romance and it seemed to be heading that way in Act 1 but gradually she started being less inclined to support Anders' free the mages line and after he nearly killed Ella, started making decisions that Fenris approved of, so by the end of game we were in a friendship romance and I absolutely loved it. He agreed that she was a good mage but given everything that had occurred, she totally agreed with his statement that for every mage like her there were a load more you needed to be scared of. The final declaration in the Gallows, regardless of who she supported, was wonderful and I have found it very difficult not to romance Fenris on subsequent playthroughs. Have done Isabella once by accident (not realising that if I slept with her it would put Fenris off) and Merrill once deliberately but it was a near run thing and again had I not slept with Isabella I think I would have succumbed to the lovely Fenris once more.

I love the pictures on this thread - just wanted to say. If I want cheering up I just come here.

Speaking of stories... I just sort of wrote a little drivel after work today. Something more for myself than anything. Since it features Fenris, and is (as always it seems) from his POV.. thought I would share.
it's not much, just drivel :)

I'll link it back from my Tumblr so as not to crowd the thread... warning for angsty-ness?

Well, the thing is, slavery is slavery; sure, some slaves worked their bodies to the bone, whereas others did nothing more than poor the bath water for their masters and mistresses. Methinks Fenris was somewhere in between the two. He would not hate Danarius so much if the man had treated him kindly; he would never have thought to run away at all. I just don't like to downplay what Fenris went through, or what a person who is a slave in general might go through, simply because it's comparable to "the Greek and/or Roman way," you know?

My story was about an elf of course :D Living in Fenris' hated alienage xD He's a mage; mother is Dalish, father is city born. He's forbidden from leaving the alienage for fear of being discovered by templars. His life is miserable; he's poor, he's an elf, etc. So of course he sneaks out with his friend one afternoon.

There's like, no action lol It's all mood and psychological stuff. It has like 0% chance of winning, but it was fun to write xD

Sometimes, I think the things we write for ourselves (And not necessarily for bigger stories/pictures) turn out best. I love 'seeing' your Fenris voice in action. (And it's stuff like this that makes me nervous about writing him. :) )

Hehe - I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who head!canons that Isabela would happily join in on a Hawke/Fenris threesome if they'd let her. (My headcanon is they don't share, though. :) )

They would atleast let her watch or hear since she's most likely spying on em.
