Ohmygod, I didn´t realize. Its not as nice Cpt Gavorn voice compared to Fenris´s, but still great. Do you have a list of other characters he has given his voice to? I´m so happy BW seem to like Emery Gideon!
I don't think it's BioWare, he seems to be on the EA payroll. He voiced Sgt. Blackburn in Battlefield 3 - did full facial scans and mocap for it too. He's a very talented VA and does a number of convincing accents. This is why he gets a lot of the jobs - for instance, he does a convincing American accent in BF3 and he's also in AC2 doing convincing Italian. I have also heard him do very good Kurdish and French accents, as well as a variety of UK and South African ranges.
Though if you are looking for more of his...eh, I suppose you could call it his natural voice, then look up FFXII for the PS2. Balthier is a little less gruff than Fenris and is closer to how Ser Emery sounds when speaking naturally (at least in audiobooks).
And of course, wandering around clicking on every Imperial Soldier in Skyrim...though I killed a dragon in Fort Greymoor and 12 of them turned up to gawke at it. 8 of them had his voice. My brain broke a little.
Getting back on topic, I was reading that codex entry on 'Alienage Culture', and how elves that choose to live outside the alienage are regarded as 'flat ears' by those within. Given that Fenris himself seems to look down on how city elves squander their freedom, how would alienage elves see Fenris given that he squats in hightown and is friends with a powerful human figure? And, given that elves in general frown on inter-racial relationships, how would they view his relationship with Hawke, especially when they become Champion or even Viscount?
Not that Fenris cares, of course, but I'd be interested in hearing some ideas as my own headcanon is a bit fuzzy when it comes to that point. I've always had it that they view him as an anomaly, who would be regarded as strange even if he didn't have the markings. But then we get that banter between him and Merrill in MotA where it seems the alienage elves talk to him...and I'm suddenly not sure anymore if he's truly talking with them, or of he's just a very good eavesdropper while standing outside Merrill's house waiting for Hawke to emerge.
Edit: Sorry for the wall o text. Here, have a near ToP Fenris

I was just playing Mass Effect 2 when I came upon this character named Captain Gavorn. I talked to him and during our conversation he laughed and I was like "that laugh sounds totally like Fenris". I repeated the conversation about 3 times until I knew for sure it was Gideon Emerys voice. I checked his voice actor bio just to be sure and I was right.
It just made my day to hear that voice and that cute laugh in such an unexpected place. Oh I love Fenris!
This is my first post here eventhough I have lurked about for a bit. I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I just wanted to share my little discovery that made me happy

I started to play ME2 series a months ago. Bioware REALLY knows how to make exceptionally great games! I didn´t ever though Ill find another game who equals DA series <3 And I shiftet my obsession from Fenris to Thane, for a while. Kinda miss hanging out here...
As far as other ME2 voices that Ser Emery provides, there are at least two - Kenn the Quarian on Omega, and Officer Tammert, a real **** of a C-sec guy that my Shepards always love telling off.
Back to Fenris -
I thought Isy left town after her argument with Hawke during the 3-year gap. I have that taking place after her big argument with Hawke in my head!canon (guess who it's over
And...I don't know about anyone else, but after seeing this extremely tasteful and very NSFW work of beauty from khemiri, there are other scenes I'm keen to write. *fans self*

Hehe - I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who head!canons that Isabela would happily join in on a Hawke/Fenris threesome if they'd let her. (My headcanon is they don't share, though.)
My headcanon is that they don't share too. Ever.
I haven't brought Asunder yet! Oh my gosh, you guys are making me want to read it SO BAD! Do we even have it here in Australia? Somehow, I doubt it.

If nothing else, you might be able to get it in KIndle format maybe. Have you looked on Amazon.Au?

I just wanted to put in that everyone seems to be saying that Hawke only becomes close to Fenris if in a romance but when I haven't romanced him and just been his best friend, I still feel like we're close, and he actually says that he hopes we'll always be together, which is why it is so disappointing at the end when Varric says that everyone leaves except love interest because it makes Fenris' words seem so shallow and insincere and I know they weren't. For me Fenris is the best romance but he is also the best friend.
Well that's life in general. Friends can drift apart. That doesn't necessarily mean that they no longer care for one another, just that they've all started to follow different paths. The ending to DA2 was really vague on what happened next; it wasn't conclusive like the ending to Dragon Age Origins, so for all we know, Fenris, Aveline, and everyone elseill end up being reunited some point in the future.

Really? I didn't know the friendship with him could be so sweet too. I haven't been able to push myself to romance anyone else so have never experienced this yet, but I might try to now.

On behalf of my two Hawkes who didn't romance Fenris, I agree. I felt those relationships were close and deep friendship. And I agree that when Varric says Fenris left too, it surprised me but then I thought it doesn't mean the friendship was over. Well, at least that's what I told myself.
And on Emery note, his voice work is all over SWTOR. Especially on the Imperial side, I swear I have heard his dozen on over a dozen characters.

Perhaps by "left Hawke's side" it really just means they stopped being traveling companions. People settle down, get jobs, make connections, fall in loveDoesn't mean they don't continue to write or visit.
That's sort of how I envisioned it for the companions as well. Of course my Hawkes all have Fenris, but I assumed everyone else keeps in touch to some degree. Except perhaps Isabela if she gets her ship and is off again. But Varric would keep my Hawke informed of all Izzy's shenanigans.

My gut feeling is that Varric knows more than he's telling Cassandra about Hawke's current location at the end of DA2. I'm also imagining that in Aveline's case, she and Donnic (and the Guard) end up working with canon!Hawke to try to rebuild Kirkwall, but that doesn't lend itself to running around having adventures. I could totally see Aveline staying in Kirkwall even if Hawke fled, out of a sense of duty. I can't speak for the rest in my own head!canon (at least not until I get the fic written), but...

Interesting thought....if Fenris is not romanced, where do you think he'd go at the end of DA2?
On a similar note, in your head canon, what do you think happens to Fenris and Hawke after the game (where they go, what they do, etc)?

With my non romanced mage Hawke, in a relationship with Sebastian, I suppose the obvious idea is that they invite Fenris to help him retake Starkhaven, with Hawke going incognito and passing herself off as a chantry sister, which in a way is true considering she is in a spiritual marriage. The robes from MoA help considerably with that since they are more appropriate to a Chantry cleric than a First Enchanter.
All my mage Hawkes, romanced or not, have a little understanding with Fenris that if ever they should become corrupted/possessed, he will do the right thing by them. Funnily enough my mage Hawkes were going to try and find a way of contacting the Divine, so discovering what she did in Asunder makes that a reasonable course of action but I assume that something occurs that stops that happening.
With my rogue Hawke, they have taken up Isabella's offer of a place on her ship at least for the time being until they make up their minds what they want to do. They generally encourage her to pursue the more noble sort of endeavours like raiding slaver ships but realise she occasionally has to do a bit of smuggling to make ends meet. I think my warrior Hawke just goes back to Ferelden and they go exploring. However, my non mage Hawkes generally have Bethany to think about as well as she only ended up in the Wardens on one occasion.
None of my canon Hawkes end up Vicount because that involved slaughtering the Circle mages for somehting they didn't do. In any case, apart from the impossibility of templars actually agreeing to a mage Hawke becoming Vicount, seeing them bow down to her, would I think have made Fenris' head explode, good mage or not. It looked way too much like a scene in Tevinter to me.
I await with interest what the designers actually have in mind.

Also....does that mean that tattoo design is canon for what's on his chest? At least his collarbone/upper chest?

Hey guys!
I need some help. I'm currently writing my fanfiction and for some reason I had the idea in that mind that the reason why Fenris never escaped from Danarius before was due to him somehow imbolising Fenris due to his markings. But I can't find any evidence of this anywhere.
Or was this just a theory we had back from the day before the release of DA2?

The tattoo seems lackluster like a frat boys tribal tatt he got drunk in cancun...not to be rude or anything. Im just holding my breathe on Varric's chest since Morrigan is in the lead....*sigh* Say did anyone draw Fenris as the old spice guy in the towel? The "helllo ladies" not the terry one.
