Try this one - tells how to use the Character Creator. One caveat, though - you have to do this exactly, and even then, it is flaky. It may take a few tries, and it may take a while to appear. One thing that might help is once you've swapped your avatar image in, log in using the log in button, then click "Online Profile". Tab out, click on it, then tab back and hit "Upload Info". Also, you do not have to use anything fancy - good ol' Paint will work too. :) (This is what worked for me - I had to wrestle with it a bit to upload my custom Shepard. :) )

Bonus points (and non-fattening decadent virtual cookies) if you can guess whose eyes inspired hers!

For bonus points, here's AdmiralCheez's post about doing custom avatars (with layering, shading, in other words, artwise). I may be using this in the future. :)

To correct for my OT blather, have a Fenris (courtesy of Milulya.)

I don't really understand why there is so much venom for Dragon Age 2. Maybe I missed something, but the gameplay and the mechanics were not so disappointing. I felt the combat was fluid, the animations were excellent, there were bugs, but I expected bugs. They weren't game breaking bugs, and the game plays well.

I REALLY don't understand the people that complain about the story. I understand that there could always be "more." Hell, even in Dragon Age: Origins there could have been "more." More of the story, more of the companions, more of the explanations and interactions. Yes there could have been more, there always could be more. I don't understand why people find it so "lacking" in story department though. I think a lot of it stems from a dislike of Hawke and perhaps a dislike of the companions and Hawke in general. If you want to be a grand hero saving the world, then Hawke will disappoint you. Hawke is reactionary. Hawke is an above average, average person, who gets thrown into events they can't control. I LOVED that about DA2. A lot of people hated that. They wanted their "saved the day/world" hero story. They wanted their Wardens back, and they wanted someone besides what and who Hawke is. Plus there is a lot in the game that personally offends people and gets on their nerves. Some people simply hate it for personal reasons outside of what the game is. I think when something touches on something so personal whether negative or positive then it is doing something RIGHT, not WRONG. It's impacting you, and that in itself is something.

Still, I'm not going to say that one is better than the other. While I like DA2 more than DA:O for various reasons (coughFENRIScough) I don't think of it as a game vs game thing. I don't think it needs to be.

The whole reason I loved DA2's story was because it was so personal. One of the reasons I like Fenris's story is because it is more personal. Something outside Mages vs. Templars, and yet SO relevant to the main story, because here is your example of what Mages in powerful positions are capable of. So yea.. don't really get all the hate for DA2. I think people just like to complain about everything and anything, personally.

*collapses onto keyboard* Sorry.. I'm.. so tired... so very very tired right now...

Well, I didn't hate DA2 but I didn't love it as much as DAO (whose combat was too slow) and as for the problems with the game..truthfully there are so many I don't know where to begin...let's start with the overuse of recycled areas, over the top arcade style combat, heavy hand bad guys..seemingly most templars are rapists/tortures and mages turning to blood magic, and raining men waves of combat, how the time gaps were handled...etc.  And I say that as someone who liked DA2. But my biggest problem is Act 3.  It's too short and underwritten.  By that point our decisions should begin to matter. Both villains are underdeveloped and go insane.  Okay, since this isn't thread about the problems with DA2 I will stop but there are more. Nor do I like to complain about everything and anything but I will let Bioware know how this game disappointed me. Heck I have been playing their games to long not to care when I feel they have made a mistake.  And say again I did like DA2 nor do I think DAO was perfect, no game is.

I do agree that what saves DA2 for me is how personal the story is...I wish I had more interaction with my companions...I would like a kiss now Fenris  like you could do with Morrigan or Alistair. :P  I like how Hawke grows, overcoming challenges and becoming a man/woman of importance.  I loved how how I could make Hawke's personality what I wanted, that was well done.  It helped me make Hawke my own espically since Hawke was voiced..if you know what I mean.   It's a good game with great companions who each have their own interesting stories.  And of course it stars Fenris, who makes everything better.

I have a wonder people...

How complete do you think Fenris' memory loss was? Was it a case of only the memories of who he was being lost or did he lose everything?

I'm kinda dancing between the two for various reasons so I'd like to hear your opinions.

I am seeing it as a total loss of memory but obviously not loss of cognative development.  So it's not like he's a blubbering infant again, but he literally has no conscious recollection of his past.

Yeah, I have to agree with you (not that the thought of a de-aged Fenris isn't kinda cute Posted Image).

I guerss you also have to take into account that Danarius dosen't seem like the kind of person who would keep a slave like that around, no matter how useful or valuable he might become.

It also fits because I headcannon the idea that Fenris' amnesia was an intentional part of the ritual, wether it was a side-affect or seperate from it.

I have to admit that Fenris' lack of background is one of the most intriguing yet annoying things about him. On one hand speculating and coming up with your own headcannon for him is fun and interesting, but on the other it makes him hard as all Hell to write!

Bahahahaha! Hubby is playing Skyrim and just wandered past an Imperial guard who says something about the Dragonborn minding his own business. Hubby immediately turns to me and says, "There's your boy!"

*still grinning*

As far as the amnesia goes - while I think the trauma of the ritual could definitely cause some amnesia, I think it was probably deliberate. I personally believe he's been memory-wiped at least one addtional time simply because if you give him to Danarius (*horror!*) he says Fenris's memories have been erased 'again'. I wonder if Fenris either starts to overcome it, remembers too much of some event, or even starts to recall his family/past.

Or, even worse, what if that's part of the lyrium 'maintenance' TGP mentions? That seems excessive, but this is a Tevinter Magister we're talking about...

Ugh. I need to go get that series of "DIEDIEDIE" gifs now.

LOL, Fenris in Skyrim is hilarious...Not too long agoI had the unique experience of hearing Fenris have a conversation with himself. I'll admit, that was about a minute of me standing there enraptured.

And it's great that your hubby understands the unique, fanatical and not at all pervy love that is the mark of a true Fenfan.

Hmm something I wanted to bring up but is in the other thread...who here is actually likes the stubble look on Fenris? Cause I for one like the idea of him having some gives him more character when he does an eye roll at sassy hawke.

I think I know what thread you're talking about, and if so, then you know my stance on the stubble (THAT SHOULDN'T BE THERE) :P

I haaaaaaaaaaate it.  It looks so bad on him.  He's an elf!  Elves don't have stubble.  If you want stubble, go for a more traditionally masculine-looking man, like Alistair or Anders.  ELVES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PRETTY!!!  Not manly!

I don't think 'pretty' necessarily means feminine/girlish or pubescent.  Maybe I'm wrong, but there's nothing wrong with a male elf looking like a male or "manly".  I think Elvhen men look youthful - but still male.

Thank you kem I knew I should of worded it better. But yeah I kind of like Fenris, cause he breaks the mold, for male elves as that men among men type.
I mean a good example was if we argued that the "hello ladies" old spice man is a pretty good looking man, but he's also manly standing there in that towel....hmmm wonder if anyone has drawn Fenris as the Old spice man?

Hey, what can I say; just expressing my opinion :P But yeah I do believe a "pretty" guy shouldn't have a beard; scruff is manly!  And in all the fantasy books I read as a kid, elves never had beards ... do you see a beard on Legolas?!  I don't think so!  And maybe that's why I don't find them attractive now that I'm a big girl; when I was a kid, I thought pretty guys like Legolas were hot!!  If they'd had an ounce of scurff on them I would've been repulsed!

But nope, don't like it on him; looks terrible in my opinion!  Then again, keep in mind I don't find Fenris attractive TO ME (to my own personal taste in men) but yet I do still find him adorable and just the perfect match for my Hawke.

EDIT: Haha the thought of Fenris in a towel as the Old Spice Guy is HILARIOUS to me because Fenris is sooooo not the epitome of masculinity and hotness the way Old Spice Guy is!!

Let's get Fenris in a Garnier Fructis commercial instead

The only elven males that I find attractive in DA2 are Fenris (duhhhhhhh) and Orsino. I obviously find Zevran attractive in DA:O, but definitely not in DA2. Needless to say, Fenris is the single most handsome, sexy and irresistible elf in the entire Dragon Age franchise.
