Bahahahaha! Hubby is playing Skyrim and just wandered past an Imperial guard who says something about the Dragonborn minding his own business. Hubby immediately turns to me and says, "There's your boy!"

*still grinning*

As far as the amnesia goes - while I think the trauma of the ritual could definitely cause some amnesia, I think it was probably deliberate. I personally believe he's been memory-wiped at least one addtional time simply because if you give him to Danarius (*horror!*) he says Fenris's memories have been erased 'again'. I wonder if Fenris either starts to overcome it, remembers too much of some event, or even starts to recall his family/past.

Or, even worse, what if that's part of the lyrium 'maintenance' TGP mentions? That seems excessive, but this is a Tevinter Magister we're talking about...

Ugh. I need to go get that series of "DIEDIEDIE" gifs now.

Yay for your hubby Ursula!  Mine noticed it too, although it was on my PT of Skryim.  All I heard was "Isn't that your boyfriend Gideon Emery?"  See he gets it on a whole different level!!

I just started ANOTHER PT of DA2, and Fenris fell in combat (I'm playing
on Hardcore).  I had rarely taken Carver with me before, but decided
that this time I'd use him (and I bought the full item pack on 360).
Anyway, when Fenris fell, my crusty little brother said "your pet elf
has fallen"!!  WTF??  I had NEVER heard that before!  And I'm WAY back
in ActI - probably not even half way through!!  I couldn't believe it!
I'm glad Carver let me know, but PET??  So insulting!!

Edit for ToP - because I LOVE her work!

OMG!!! :o I've never heard that before either!  God Carver is such a little bastard.  Hmph.  He's just jealous.  We all know Carver has a THING for elves.  Okay, I'm just making that up; I couldn't see Carver going for Fenris in a million years.  Although I would love to see him try, just to see the look of shock followed by patronizing smile on Fenris' face.

I say someone has to die in the Deep Roads on this PT to make up for that nasty little comment :P

What. A. JERK!! Well at least he's acknowledging the romance *sigh* Got me wondering what all the other companions say if he falls mid-romance.

This is kind of unrelated but I've been looking through some mods and does anyone know of any improved romance scenes for Fenris? Do they even exist? I'm mainly interested in seeing what people come up with than actually using them, but still.

Oh ho ho ho there is a video on youtube of someone playing around with the Isabella'fade to black' scene swapped out with Female hawke and Fenris....needless to say yeah it exists.

Hmmm. Guess I'll chime in.

First: There are no modded scenes in DA2, unless you count character swapping. There isn't a toolset so you can not modify the cut scenes in any way or create "more" cut scenes. So no, it isn't possible to make any "improved" romance scenes. Closest you can get is perhaps a shirtless mod for Fenris or fraps/screenshot some character swapped scenes from other romances. The voices still play the same in character modding so you will have, say, Anders's lines coming out of Fenris if you switch them.

As for stubble -- Fenris says himself about elves and beards to Varric. "Elves.. don't have beards." Now I wonder if it is because they simply do not grow them (most likely) or they have to shave them (less likely). Most likely is that in canon elves do not have facial hair, and perhaps limited/no body hair. Look at Zevran's legs for example, LOL. Still, it isn't the manly aspect of it that bothers me, but it isn't fitting of an elf, even in Thedas. I've never seen stubble on Fenris, neither in art or as a mod (though I stay away from Fenris mods so I probably missed it.) Still, stubble isn't fitting of Fenris, and I don't think I would or do like it on him.

In some of his cut scenes you can see a darker pores/stubble on his chin/face. It indicates he is probably capable of growing stubble/facial hair, but as an elf he doesn't seem to grow it. Nor do any other elves. So it probably just grows very slowly or doesn't progress past stubble.

and as for Carver. I love Carver. I've heard that line before since I have 3 mages and I take Carver and Fenris everywhere in Act 1. Honestly it is way before the romance, but more just Carver being an arse like he does. His whole "pet elf" thing, and he also has a line with "you invited him," in another quest dialogue. I love how he sort of rags on Fenris and Fenris rags on him right from the beginning. That's just Carver though, and Carver is just so perfectly little brother. He's my favorite.

I haven't had Carver with me (haven't played a mage yet), but I have seen him on Hubby's PT - and he grew on me. He's a prat, but he does have redeeming value.

Besides, Fenris is perfectly capable of trolling him right back.

About the stubble/facial hair - I also thought facial hair on elves didn't happen. I happen to think that some men can pull it off, but basically, I have a hard time picturing any Thedas elves with it. M!Hawke? Anders? Yes, they rock the stubble. Fenris? No thanks. That's just my 2 coppers though.

Might as well weigh in...Got nothing else that's half as entertaining.

Re: Carver. OK, when DAII first came out I was willing to strangle the little brat, and because I favour playing as a Mage I got a lot of him. However after Legacy and MotA came out and it became possible to switch from Rivalry to Freindship with him he started to grow on me.

It just feels like Carver (moreso Warden!Carver) does a lot of growing up once he seperates from Hawke. Maybe it's just me projecting but I find away from the 'Shadow of the Older Sibling' Carver simply feels more at ease and can allow himself to grow without being tripped up by resentment at every turn.

And it's not as if Fenris can't handle him. Carver is small fry compared to what our favourite elf has endured.

Re: Stubble. No. Just...No. Fenris' skin is rough and weathered, which gives him a more 'finished' look and I like that...But elves don't grow beards.

And, well, I just like my men clean-shaven...

I like standard Fenris. Even the clothing mods kinda get to me. I like Fenris' armor, and I have a strange fascination with his belt (I blame the Hip-Wiggle gif).

So yeah, my opinion, for what it's worth. *Sneaks some cookies and goes back to lurking/bashing head against keyboard in an attempt to write*

Oh I agree that Carver is a great little brother, and I've always loved the banter he has. I just rarely took him with me before so certain things I had never heard.

And Fenris can definitely handle himself - around anyone. The tattoo banter with him, Carver & Varric still gets a laugh out of me.

As for facial hair - never even occurred to me, but like Arquen, I just assume it's canon that DA elves don't grow it/have much of it. And I would NEVER want Fenris to have any, I just don't see it suiting him.
Like Tash, I like clean shaven men.

Wow, I've never heard that line from Carver but I would guess he's just being the typical little brother...bratty...can you tell I have one.:P  LOL

Stubble on Fenris...no I don't think it would suit him but then again I too like a clean shaved man so that might be influencing my opinion. I like how he looks. To me, he looks older mature especially for an elf, most always look to young for me anyways. Fenris is the first elf I've look at and thought wow hot until I saw Ivoreth, now that's a hot elf...lol.

What makes that really strange is I love the Zervan romance, it's my second favourite but not because I think Zervan is hot. I don't think that actually,  Okay, I will stop now. The point being I just like Fenris' look. It's unique like him. It makes him stand out.

Stubble? What's with the talk about Fenris having stuble? I don't see any stubble on him. Only pores in his skin, but no hairs. I don't mind the vanilla skin texture. I think it looks good.

Elves don't have beards, even DA elves. :P When you played an elf in Origins you also couldn't give him a beard or even stubble.

I do wonder about the rest of their body hair... Do they only have hair on their head and eyebrows? Or armpit hair as well. :P Looking at Zevran's legs really doesn't say anything, because I can't say I have seen any hair on Alistair's legs either. Bioware's body models are just bald.

*ducks in*

Hi Fenris thread! <passes cookies around>

I've been staying off the bsn to avoid ME3 spoilers but had to check in and see how close we were getting to 2000 pages... still a ways to go and I have pages and pages to catch up on.

I finally signed up for twitter just so I could ask Mr Emery what he said as Fenris at the MCM Expo '11, I must know! lol hopefully he will respond.

I'm sorely lacking in making new Fen art, what is wrong muse?! <pout>

*ducks back out - it was a drive by fenris posting*

I'm seriously suffering from a lack of Fenris discussion. I brought up the idea today and was turning it around in my head (esp after Asunder), would Fenris continue to follow Hawke if they choose to fight with the mages? What about Anders? Do you think he would follow Hawke if he/she decided to fight with Anders or follow/ keep him around?

Fenris says that it is a mistake to side with the mages. Do you think that he will continue to side with you, and continue to say it is a mistake, or just not say anything and accept this is what Hawke is going to do regardless? Would he argue about Hawke's role after the battle, and would it come to him being stubborn and continuing to think Hawke is in hopeless battle, or will he actually change his mind after Kirkwall?

Hmm.. hmm.. I'm just.. really missing serious Fenris talk. *sigh* Also missing Fenris in general, and I was staring at my computer this morning thinking of starting another PT, and then thinking I must be crazy because I've played that game enough and there are other games.

Also, WHY AM I UP SO EARLY!? You know one thing I think about Fenris is that he doesn't sleep very well. I think he has nightmares, and restless sleep, even after Danarius. At first it is his past and the hunters constantly could be after him, then I see him not being able to rest after Hadrianna and what she said. Not to mention Hawke (if romanced). Then even after Danarius I see him not sleeping well/ having nightmares about his past and what to do now. It always intrigues me how he sleeps in the middle room of the mansion (the servant's quarters) and yet there are two "master bedrooms" with giant beds on either side. He chooses that room, and makes it his own, but I don't see him sleeping on that bed often.

meh random Fenris thoughts.

They can in The Elder Scrolls. Dunmer with goatees are delicious.

But yeah... the odd 'shadow' along Fenris' jaw bothers me some. Posted Image if he can't grow a beard, why is that there?

I know how that is. I had wanted to draw my Hawkes a couple of days ago... realized that I had no reference for them... put in DA2 to take a few pictures...

And re-swooned over Fenris. I also realized that I always forget just how much I love the game until I'm playing it again. So I had to start another playthrough. Posted ImagePosted Image

Hmmm guess on my monitor I see it as stubble and not as pores....blah Ill be the odd man out and say I demand more staches and beards on elven men.

Now for a change of subject I have two ideas: how long the relationship with Fenris and Hawke would last depending on friendship/rivalry, voice type(sassy, diplomatic, blunt) and the choosing of final battle.
or
if Gaider kept Fenris as a Male only LI option how would you react around the character?

If Fenris was mHawke exclusive, I'd have been a sad panda, because I play only FemHawkes. I have a problem playing male characters because it is so very difficult for me to get one to look the way I want him to. So I stick to female characters. Of course, I'd probably have caved in and created a male Hawke just to do the Fenris romance. Then again, maybe not.

If I couldn't romance him, I would probably go to Sebastian, or one of the female LIs. I can't romance Anders. I've honestly tried but it just doesn't work for me. So he would not be an option for me.

Sorry Anders, but you will be forever alone in my playthroughs. ;_;

Danger you are not alone in that that...my own question stumped me because I think it WOULD force me to play as a male hawke to nab him. Thus leaving Female Hawke slowly pining away for Aveline and Varric...or just become asexual.

lol, well since i didn't get Seb's DLC with my order of DA2, I'd probably have a few Hawkes that would be alone. of course, then i'd have to replay it and romance him just so they weren't. i like my romances. :kissing:

Gah, I've missed SO much again!

Re Carver: I ADORE that little brat. I always have. He is the typical little brother, and maybe it's because he reminds me so much of my own younger brother, but I just ADORE him. I can't ever let him die. I love him way too much. And I absolutely adore the relationship that develops between him and Fenris, because it's just so realistic! That's usually how brothers treat their sisters' boyfriends. It's full of trolling, but it's also really playful and cute. I love it. I could go on and on about how much I love it.

As for the stubble, there are A LOT of cutscenes where I can see some dark stubble around Fenris' chin. I don't know... sometimes it looks like he does have one, and sometimes not. But I agree with everyone else here: elves just don't have facial hair or even body hair for that matter. And even if they do have body hair in umm... ehem ehem... certain places, it's probably very, very light.

Umm... yeah. I don't even know why I went there in the end, but I did.

Sorry for the double post but I'm at work and it's too hard to try and edit my other post :P

Well, in all my PT, Hawke and Fenris are TOGETHER FOREVER <3, so whether Hawke is a mage or rogue, or diplomatic or sarcastic, he and Fenris are in it for the long haul.

If Fenris were only available to M!Hawke's I would be annoyed on behalf of my fellow Fengirls because I know how annoyed I'D be if he were only available to F!Hawke.  However, I don't think they will go back to het options only, and they have said they will never have s/s only options.

Ha!  I've killed him off before, the little brat.  (I've never killed off Bethany; I like her too much.)  I seriously did not mind seeing him die, I was all, aww, boo-hoo.  Now you're dead, suckah!  boo-yah!  It was wrong of me, I know.

But I had another playthrough where Hawke loved and adored him too pieces and got almost 100% friendship with him (yeah I had to religiously check the Carver Approval page on the wiki for that one).

So it just really depends on Hawke and how I'm playing him

I wonder.. If Fenris was male romance only I would probably ended up being BFF with him. I only romanced him the first time more by accident and because I loved the character so much I literally fell in love with him, and wanted to do the romance.

I've played males and females. I tend to prefer playing females though, and I absolutely adored Fem!Hawke. On my male Hawke I romanced Izzy, and really it was the only way I could force myself to stay away from the Fenris romance.

So while I might eventually have made a character just for the romance, more than likely I would have ended up romancing no one or someone else and keeping Fenris as a BFF, and still playing a Fem!Hawke. I love Fenris as a BFF as well. Though after a while I would be seriously curious about the romance because I love the character so much. I would have been a sad panda too if I learned he was only romance-able with a male.

As for how long the relationship lasts.. hmm. I think it is rather dependent on 2 factors 1.) What Hawke does after the final battle and 2.) How Fenris feels about what Hawke does after the final battle vs. how he feels about Hawke.

For me, with all my Hawkes, I see them together forever. The only one I worry about is my bloodmage Hawke. However, I still see them staying together because of the way that they interact and grow with each other. Fenris pretty much makes up his mind and shows how far he is willing to go to stay with Hawke. "The thought of living without you.." doesn't necessarily mean simply physically as in Hawke's death. It means "living without you.." in all the sense of the word. Still, it runs both ways, and I think there are certain things that Hawke could do that would end the relationship. Yet it would have to be a change of Hawke's character and person dramatically. Say a Hawke that sides with the mages and then wants to head to Tevinter to become a magister and eventually take over as the Black Divine and rule everyone with an iron fist of magic. Yeah, don't think that would go over too well. I also think there are places where the relationship is going to have a tough time, but as I said Fenris pretty much made it clear how far he is willing to go to keep the relationship. He also pretty much shows what kind of loyalty he has for you. I think very few things could shake that, and I think Hawke would be insane to question that or try to mess it up by breaking his trust.

So yeah, I see it as one of the strongest relationships, and it could definitely withstand some disagreements, if only because Fenris has shown time and again that he is most tolerant of other people disagreeing with him. He still cares about you regardless. Yet there is a line and a point that even he won't cross, and I think that is true with everyone. So all Hawke has to do is be a good partner and be as willing to meet half way as he is.

Personality -- voice and all that.. meh.. don't think it makes much of a difference. The romance plays out the same, but I think he would be more protective of a rivaled Hawke and a diplo Hawke. Thinking perhaps they are more naive and will therefore get into more trouble. An aggressive seems more on par with a respect/equality thing, and while they would probably argue (esp rivalry) I think they both fall back on the respect for speaking their mind, and the power/presence they each possess. Snarky would be deflective, and while Fenris would be more willing to smile and laugh with Snarky Hawke I think he would worry a bit that Hawke doesn't take anything seriously, and that their mouth would get them in trouble. There would be a lot of head shaking, and shoulder shrugging, and I think Fenris might get frustrated trying to talk to a strictly snarky Hawke who kept deflecting with humor all the time. The interactions would be different, but the strength of the romance would be the same I think.

wall-o-text.. yay questions!
