Wasn't it very convienant for Hawke to walk in at the exact moment Fenris is getting plastered?

I kind of suspect Fenris gets plastered alone in that house more often than he should. PTSD/depression plus access to a well stocked wine cellar...  I wonder if after the first time, Hawke doesn't pop by occasionally to make sure he's not doing it again... and that's why she's always catching him at it.

Dear Hawke,

I am drunk. Come see me.

Love,

Fenbear

Assuming he could write at that point. Maybe he just does it through pictographs.

 Just made my day. The mental image of a Drunk Fenris attempting to draw a picture of him with a bottle of aggregio and a picture of the mansion, along with an arrow to the door, makes me giggle. The pictures wouldn't even be legible, but I can imagine my Hawke just shaking their head and going to the mansion anyway.

As for the he/she Hawke thing, I try to keep it gender neutral, as I'm neutral to Hawke's gender to begin with. I ship Female and Male Hawke with the same characters anyway, as they're more or less the same person anyway, save for gender.

*sigh* If i cant get work done its because of my poor impulse control....Sorry but that picutre is such a "Come at me Hawke" look.
You think he trains with Hawke to keep from drinking on most nights or take up a mercenary job.

I play female characters but I try to keep what I post gender neutral too, which can be a pain in the bum but I prented it's practice for the day I work for BW ^_^

As far as the wall slam goes its never bothered me, the agressive edge fits how I see my Hawkes and Fenris both sweet and rough.

When Hawke makes her/his move, Fenris says: "Perhaps on another night".

:huh:Ummm... waa-what?

Few people want to talk about that. Like, Hawke was feeling it- but Fenris wasn't? I don't think Fenris likes physical contact and isn't really interested in sex.

And since we seem to be doing a bit of Shameless Self-Promotion...Click the link in my sig, please? I'm really looking for opnions on 'What the Water Gave Us' but the rest might serve as amusement (considering that most of them were written before the game came out...). So, pretty please?

We never know if he has a father - we could assume his father was killed in Seheron.

No one ever mentions dear old dad. It always made me wonder if there was a selective breeding program going on in TI.

He has no recollection of a father, so either his mom was impregnated by
some elf while a slave or Fenris' father was killed in Seheron when he
was a baby or infant.

I always liked (okay the word like probably isn't right) the idea that Fenris's father died trying to save his family from slavery. Too romantic? Gah, okay then, they did something horrible to his mother and she ended up with children she never wanted.

it's a mage-eat-mage nation.

Do you get fries with that? Sorry, ignore me. I couldn't help it.

Hadrianna apparently never used her powers to try and overthrow Danarius
- something that's probably very common there.  Although she may have
been a social climber, she remained loyal to her mentor.  Danarius never
felt threatened by Hadrianna and could ask her to perform great fetes
that caused her fear and trepidation  (remember what her slave told them
- that Hadrianna feared someone was coming to kill her?).  Slavish

It brings home how powerful Danarius must have been if he had people like Hadrianna who weren't willing to try and overthrow him. Wonder if she would have inherited his estate? Maybe that would make her extremely loyal? Ick, Fenris would have been her property. OKay, that's just too depressing.

Danirius refers to Fenris like a child: my pet", "little Fenris", etc. -
never like a man.  He also claims that Fenris "once had great affection
for me. I remember it fondly".  Fenris had affection for a man that
never showed him any.  Similar to that little elf girl freed from that
serial elf-child abuser/son of the Magistrate.  Affections for someone
so cruel to them.

I also remember Sebastian offering to hear Fenris's confessions concerning Danarius. Then Fenris says something about why does everyone want hear every sordid detail. For me, that defined what kind of relationship he had with Danarius. I'm sure Danarius showed him affection just not appropriate affection. Uggg the mind games that must have gone on. Poor Fenris.

I believe Fenris competed for that boon in his mid-teens and probably
had experiences with Danarius before that.  I think Danarius regarded
Fenris like Varric regards Bianca.  A special weapon no one could have
but everyone coveted - something he liked to show off - his "trophy".

I agree. I think Fenris was a status symbol and a display of Danarius's power. Could you imagine going to your friend's house and showing them Fenris. Look, I branded someone today. It scares me what goes on in David Gaider's mind.

Another IMO:  I think Fenris may have had a twin brother.  Someone like
Danarius experimenting on living people - would be attracted to a 'twin
set', like that **** doctor.  I imagined the competition for the 'boon'
was a challenged offered to him and his twin - with death for the
loser.  Varania never said anything, but then - the brother was dead so
why bring it up? She didn't bring up their father either.

Interesting. This is the first time I have seen this suggested. Brings up memories of things that happened in WWII. But would Fenris really compete against his brother? It sounded like it was an optional thing, that Fenris chose to do it. I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if he was forced.

Yes - I said it!  Fenris had a twin brother whom he killed for the prize.  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie]  You didn't think all that evil and hell would generate kindness, benevolence and love?? This is Tevinter Imperium!

Not a great holiday destination then? I have to admit that I do not get the warm and fuzzies when I think about Tevinter. Danarius is always the first thing that springs to mind, and then the thought of his dead body at the Hanged Man swiftly follows.

I hope you decide to read my fanfiction some day. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/blushing.png[/smilie] My stuff doesn't read like a fairy tale.

Where is the link?

I've read my fair share of both types. I read a fanfic the other day where Fenris starts suffering from lyrium poisoning and slowly dies. It was... not pleasant, but it did give me my daily dose of emotional trauma.

Did someone on here write that? Made me cry damn it!

I write... hmmm how would you describe it ghost_nappa? Porn? Grade A smut? Maybe I am giving myself too much credit. Could be Grade B.

Every one needs some good pron now and again. And don't the lot of you come in here and deny ever reading some good Fenris/ Hawke smut.

Hey, Aldien!

Well, I only have a prologue up - I plan on posting Chapters 1 & 2 by Sunday, February 19th.  Here's the link to that prologue - http://www.fanfiction.net/~kemz1969 or http://www.fanfiction.net/u/3596875/ or http://www.fanfictio..._of_the_Fates.

My Dragon Age 2 fanfict Serial is called - Dawnbreakers: Duel of the Fates.
Serial first that follows Hawke & companions from 9:37 until 9:55 which marks the Elven Jubilee on their calendar. This story follows a prophecy of the rebirth of primordial gods, the end of mankind's dominion and the possible return of Thedas to elven stewardship.

I introduce some new characters and cover areas of Thedas only referenced in codices - largerly Tevinter Imperium, Starkhaven and Rivain - and add a new territory (not part of Thedas) northeast of Rivain - an island personally visited by Isabela.

"Only when the Wheel of Man is broken will the Elvhen be free." - Satidevi, Augur of Innocence, also called The Wisewoman from my Dragon Age 2 fanfict Series (Act I: 9:37-9:42, Night Preceeding Day)

Okay - my story is founded on the visions of revered Seer, Satidevi, that portend the end of the Age of Men with the rebirth of three supreme elemental gods who helped shape the first children (Elvhen) from the mystical fire and purified mix of clay/water.  These avatars represent both the duality of physical and spiritual life and the "one-mind" of the Maker.

After the death of Danarius and the Kirkwall uprising, the Imperial Archon of the Tevinter Imperium will seek  to secure her position and influence (which was weakened by the death of Danarius) among the senators by capturing Fenris - a symbol of magical enlightment and innovation.  A rival magister for her position is also seeking Fenris, but what he finds will divide the Order and lead them to the brink of civil war. He who is also seeking Fenris is the "Black Divine", and his motive in seeking is to suspend the Senate of Magi and take absolute power over the Imperium - or to make himself emperor (a Caesar).
"To Wield or To Destroy?" is the question that plagues the soul of the Black Divine.

***NOTE:  Yes, the N-a-z-i-i doctor Mengele who had a special interest in twins.  I use a lot of n-a-z-i-i references when describing or writing about Tevinter Imperium becuase it's more similar to n-a-z-i-i germany than imperial Rome.
I hope you will read my work when posted :) Thank you in advance for your support! :)

Aww, I just took it as him being shy about stuff like that =] Also, don't forget, he's technically ... a virgin!!  Regardless of how much he may have been sexually abused, when it comes to intimacy, I take it (or like to take it) that Hawke is his first.

Fenris should have had fire in his loins (Hawke + intimacy + alcohol). :o

That's a good point. It makes me wonder how everyone views their Hawke's expirience in intimate matters. In my case, I see my mage Hawke being a virgin, which makes it interesting if she has to take the lead with Fenris. :P My rogue Hawke would probably be a little more worldly, so she'd be able to point him in the right direction if he got a little lost ;)

I never, ever took the "Perhaps on another night" to mean Fenris isn't interested. Frankly, from Fenris' behavior throughout the entire scene, it's pretty obvious he is interested - but he's not completely plastered, and he's got enough sense to realize that he doesn't want their first time together to be when he's inebriated and unlikely to appreciate it as fully as he would sober, or be as capable of making the experience a good one for Hawke. He doesn't want the memory of it to be blurred with alcohol.

Additionally, choosing to sleep with someone for the first time after experiencing abuse as he did can be a tremendous leap. For some, not so much, and that's fine too, but for others, it can be. And it's not that they don't want to, but wanting to doesn't make it easy. He may be quite willing, but nervous enough to put it off a bit longer.

He may even be giving Hawke a chance to change his/her mind, because his issues with self-worth tell him Hawke would be happier with someone more 'deserving' - someone who wasn't a slave, wasn't a living weapon, wasn't physically, sexually, mentally, and emotionally abused, isn't all the little things that gnaw at his confidence.

I definitely would not say that it was because he was "not interested."

I agree with you. I think he would want to remember their first night together without the interference of alcohol. He even sounds a bit surprised when he/she suggests they could be more than friends.

I was thinking about when he says: I never thought I wanted anyone or needed anyone... until now. To me that says: I want you Hawke. You can see it in his expression. It's the most sultry expression I think I have ever seen on a game character.

Maybe he was testing the waters. Not sure on that one. But I do believe that Fenris wants to make the first move as far as having sex goes. He wants control of this decision, which I udnerstand considering his circumstances. I honestly believe at this point that he doesn't want to rush it and then take the risk of regretting it.

Plus, he's celebrating his escape (is that right?) and then there was the confession concerning the Fog Warriors. It doesn't exactly lend itself to a Barry White moment does it? I think he is so full of regret that night that he doesn't want to regret being with Hawke. Just a guess.

This is a good point too.

I agree with aldien too that control is important for Fenris --

But I do believe that Fenris wants to make the first move as far as having sex goes. He wants control of this decision, which I udnerstand considering his circumstances. I honestly believe at this point that he doesn't want to rush it and then take the risk of regretting it.

I think he's testing to see if action would be welcome, but he wants to start it on his own. Of course, once he starts it, Hawke kind of takes over... but again, maybe that's part of the reason it ends up being too much for him?
I'll admit I'm just as glad you decided to skip the "groin on fire" pictograph, though. :)

I found that to be a very interesting theory! but after playing Alone again last night the only reason I can't get behind it is because of the outrage that Fenris shows at being betrayed by a sibling "You sold out your own brother to become a magister?"

Ok, back to catching up on this thread, it's great to see so much activity, page 2000 here we come!

Did it suddenly get hot in here? Yep, I'm rethinking wine night now. I think Fenris should have wine night every night. Look at them lanky legs. That's so hawt!

Why does his bicep always look like it is going to explode?

Of course, once he starts it, Hawke kind of takes over... but again,
maybe that's part of the reason it ends up being too much for him?

That's an excellent observation. When I play the romance scene and I choose for Fenris to come back later, I have often felt that I would have preferred for him to take the lead and not have Hawke slam him against the wall, and then take over. It destroys the feeling of that particular romance option. He's the one that initiates the kiss. Why not let him initiate other things? I could have done with a slower paced, take your time, let him explore scene. Hawke's just too eager damn it!

It's snowing. Bah! I can't sign in to FF.net. Bah! I'm not reading any stories until I can sign in, otherwise I can't review.

I don't like the wall-slamming, but since I play a dude Hawke, I love that he takes control in the bedroom.  Why, because actually I am in fact a pervy wanker ... see, I don't get pervy over Fenris; I get all pervy over my buff M!Hawke, kukukuh... Hawke guiding a flustered Fenbear through a night of passion is like, awesome sauce for my imagination.

I do like Fenris initiates the kiss.  I think if Hawke came in first, it would seem ... not just over-eager, but inconsiderate.  Fenris NEEDS to initiate first.  He has to be ready for it.

You guys should self promote your fanfiction! I'd rather read a story by someone I have spoken with first, so I know whether to give you a good review or not.  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

I think most peeps here have read my ficcie, but it's in the link in my sig you haven't and you wanna... titled "Act of Mercy."  It's total angsty fluff and contains no sexy times.

I can't get into FF.net either!

I agree that Fenris wants to take their "relationship" at HIS pace, rather than Hawke's. Especially considering the first time my Hawke met him she flirted (dirty girl!).
Anyway....this is partly why I think that Hawke tossing him against the wall is out of place. He has come back, they have a hot/sweet kiss and then she grabs him? Somehow I'd think that after 3 years of knowing him, that might not come across well. I'd be afraid of sending him running right there. My Hawke is a rogue, but still. I think she might regret that move later or question whether or not it was the right thing to do, especially once he leaves. However, if it's the "glowy" scene and he grabs her first, then it's not as out of place for her to be rough. Just my opinion and applies to GIRL Hawke only :)

@Tash - still loving your fics!

Cosmo, I thought he had accidentally cut half his arm off in the pic when I first glanced at it :-O

I am agreeing more and more with everyone here ... definitely for girl Hawke, but for dude Hawke, too. It's just not cool to grab and roughly handle someone like Fenris.

Then again, I'm questioning whether or not we're being too sensitive. This IS a passion that's been smoldering for years upon years, after all. Maybe it's just awkwardly rendered in the game.

Here is maybe where I am strange... I totally think Hawke's taking control IS part of what makes the experience too much for Fenris. And if Hawke were me, it's not what I would have done. But since she's NOT me and we still have a lot of story left to go, I'm kind of glad she messes it up. I think in the long run it gives them both an opportunity to learn something. (And it means I as the player get to watch Fenris be angsty some more.) :)
