I don't see Fenris as untidy or unclean at all. I think he would take care of his cleanliness, and the whole permanent corpse and spiderweb thing I think shouldn't be considered as part of any of his 'untidy' aspects. Regarding DA2 developers, do you know why the new DA2 comics (post-chantry attack) excludes Fenris? I understand why it doesn't include Sebastian (he returns to Starkhaven to claim title) or Anders (dead or on the run) or Aveline (she's married to Donnic and her job).  But why not Fenris? He was rather close to Varric and Isabela.

It feels as if Bioware has abandoned Fenris since he's not in DA3 or in the comics set in Rivain. Do you think it's because Bioware find Fenris the least preferred character in the game? 

Fenris has received mixed reviews. Some people are pissed because they think Bioware is trying too hard to appeal to the anime crowd, others didn't like his personality, some people (not going to say who) said he turned out too much like a Twilight character. If you go to most threads that mention DA3 or a DLC you will more than likely find someone say: as long as it doesn't have Fenris in it. Some people are very cruel when it comes to our favorite elf.

I think Fenris is popular, don't get me wrong, but I don't think Bioware left enough room for development by the end of the game, that's not to say that they couldn't go back and fill in some gaps. If an author wants to write something it will be written, otherwise... well it just becomes hard work and that will probably show in the end product. It's all about what characters appeal to the majority.

DA2 is my first DA experience. Personal opinion, I don't like how they switch the main protagonist with every sequel. It's too jolting. I bet I find that to be even more true when I play DAO. How much more rewarding would it be to have your creation continue through each sequel and have the option to experience different romances or to keep the same LI forever? And to have a coherent storyline?

My understanding is that in DA3 there will yet again be a new protagonist and storyline. It doesn't keep it new and interesting imo, it just makes it harder to keep the story coherent. I guess I'm old school in that regard.

I absolutely adore Fenris, write about him, fantasize about him, want rename my cat after him and claim that my daughter is really his child (NO I don't really do that) You get the idea. I'd love to see more of him, but... not so sure it's going to happen.

Nah, Fenris is just as tsundere for m!Hawke as f!Hawke, imo. Lots of hissing and growling, but it's mostly show, whatever Hawke has between their legs.  Though speaking of f!Hawke bumping into Fenris a lot, I don't know how many of you have read this fic?  It's absolutely fantastic, by the same person who wrote Lacrimosa, if you remember that one!  But this one's not depressing, I promise!

Awww I loved it! It was a nice and creative take on Fenris and Hawke. LOL Poor Fen. I'm certain he spent most his days with a Hawke induced migraine. I always get to that part in the story where I just want him to stay! Of course he never does, but it never ceases to make me hope he will. Thanks for recommending it.

Is it just me getting the wrong impression, or is the fan art of Hawke and Fen usually means Hawkes as male? There are rarely female hawke hooking up with Fenris-fan art out there.

I suppose it just depends on the artist's preference. Some paint Fenris with male Hawke, but there are other who do him with female Hawke. Whether there is more with male Hawke... I'm not sure. Perhaps he does appear in a slight majority of the art, but I have found plenty of beautful images with female Hawke as well.

I know when I type in "Fenris" at FFNet I get several pages of stories, but maybe only a handful are with M!Hawke

Normally moto I be jumping for joy on that thought in the fanfic for Hawke/FEnris, yes I am that much of a curmudgeon. HOwever when it is in reverse in the fanart community I sorta just scratch my head and go..."I dont see the appeal."
 But as usual to each their own....or it could be my evil grinch side not seeing enough T&A in my H&F.

There's a fair bit of M!Hawke/Fenris fic out there, but I do agree that it's outnumbered by f!Hawke/Fenris. With art, hmm. I think it mostly depends on where you look? I've seen plenty of both, and I'd be hard-pressed to figure out which I've seen 'more' of. Since I love both, though, it's all good to me.

Would you explain to those of us who haven't seen Twilight, how Fenris is 'like' this movie? Also, do you think Fenris is anime? In what way?

moto you might want to try looking at the dragon age kink meme on LJ, there's quite a few good m!hawke/fenris fics there but like the name suggests a lot of them are NSFW so YMMV. Art-wise I think there's a sizable amount for both? Although I think there might be more of m!hawke on places like tumblr, I honestly haven't been looking anywhere aside from deviantart, tumblr and pixiv (since the Japanese version of DA2 has recently been released there and Japanese fans are starting to churn out fanart rather than just western fans reuploading there.) |D;

Harle, yeah, I guess it may be close to 50/50 but I really do believe I've seen more M!Hawke x Fenris art than FemHawke x Fenris. Now when it comes to Anders, it's almost 90% FemHawke. I think this may be because, well, Anders is a bit of a top (thanks to his bedroom seem, Hawke goes down first ) and fan girls tend to only think in terms of top and bottom, and so if Anders is top, that means Hawke is bottom ... easier to imagine this for a FemHawke than a M!Hawke since M!Hawke is pretty darn manly, no matter how you mess with his face.

Reinara, oh yes I've been told about the LJ kink meme, but yeah, I'm not really into NC-17 fics and what not. I get sort of tired of that, you know? I think in my rp I've written well over 100 sex scenes and it's just, ugh, been there done that. Gimme the sweet romance! hahaha xD

I have to admit I was surprised the first time Fenris betrayed me in the Fade. With all his talk about weak mages and demons, I didn't expect he would actually fall prey to a demon himself. I think Fenris did not expect that either.
I do understand that he turns on you. Demons have ways to get in your head and have blood magic-like mind manipulation tricks. Fenris is not a mage and has never been confronted with demons before, so he has not developed the ability to withstand a demon's influence. I think that very few people without the right training will be able to see through a demon's tricks.

But then you're out of the Fade, and you go talk to Fenris... and he tells you it is your fault what happened, or at least in some part. Now, at first that may seem unreasonable, but I think Fenris actually has a point here. But only when Hawke is a mage, because then Hawke has knowledge of the Fade and its inhabitants, and Hawke knew what they would be facing.
If Hawke is a warrior or a rogue, however, I don't think Fenris is being very fair, because Hawke didn't really know what to expect either.

What did they do to Aveline?? Wow!
I discovered if your friendship is strong, Fenris won't betray you in Fade. Neither does Varric. I plan on another playthrough with strong Isabela friendship to see if she will betray me.

Lol, yeah, poor Aveline looks more than a little deformed. xD

But I don't think it's true the betrayal in the Fade is relationship dependent? Even if you're romancing Fenris, he betrays you. Isabela will also definitely betray you, no matter how high your friendship with her is.

The only way to have Fenris not betray you is take Merrill with you, because the demon will turn to her then instead of Fenris.

I never felt that Fenris blames you for what happens in the fade, I've always felt he is somewhat embarrassed by what happened, seeing that he always bags out mages for being too easily manipulated by demons.
I love that on the friendship path (at least I think it is only on this path), with Fenryiel dead (sorry can't spell his name) he even says he hopes Hawke doesn't take it lightly, as many mages meet that fate, as it is one of the few instances he shows pity for mages and what their 'curse,' he would call it, often results in.
