Something different. A Seheron Fenris! by_caiterhe-d3floio

The thing I liked most about this picture is what he is wearing and what he is not wearing. Easy on the eyes and easy access.

That comic is one of my favorites. Caite did an excellent job of capturing the emotions and the dialogue is excellent. I love how understanding and calm her Hawke is. Plus the way she draws is gorgeous. Her Fenris is one of my favorite Fenris renditions, next to Frikadeller's and SmaiLika's -- also Aivopesty :P.

As for Carver -- he's my favorite sibling, and it's possible to get him to 100% friendship with Legacy. There is a dialogue tree that pretty much allows you to get Carver all the way maxed. His friendship path is fantastic. His humor and his struggle with his sibling, yet he is your friend and as douchey as he can be he is so adorkable Carver. I love him. Still... Fenris thread... so *ahem*... enough of that.

As for the dynamic between Anders and Fenris it is every bit an "I will watch them closely..." thing from Fenris. He isn't outright going to turn Anders into the Templars because of Hawke, but he also isn't going to agree with Anders or anything he represents or does. To Fenris, Anders is the worst kind of mage. A mage who sold his own mind/ soul to a "demon" for a chance at power. Even if it was for the best intentions -- "A mage can desire power, justice, revenge, protection, any cause will do, and then they are lost." He really isn't going to budge on that point, and Anders doesn't really help much by trying to compare Fenris's "living weapon" status to a mage's powers, and their hardships to that of slavery. It's just.. not going to go over well to try and compare Fenris's life to the plight of mages. Anders himself pretty much gives up on Fenris after a while. He just thinks Fenris "more a wild dog.." someone who lashes out and doesn't understand anything. In essence in Act 3 Anders becomes so antagonistic to ANYONE who isn't on his side, that it is literally "with me.. or against me.." and that definitely puts Fenris in the "against me" category since Fenris is the first to chime in that Anders is dangerous.

So yeah, their dynamic is one of mild tolerance because they have to and choose to because of Hawke, but that's really as far as it goes. The best they can hope for is to find some thin thread of common ground to balance on.

This is going sound stupid...but is that comic on her DA page? I couldn't find it.

As for Carver -- he's my favorite sibling, and it's possible to get him to 100% friendship with Legacy.

So you do have to have Legacy to get him to 100%?

adorkable Carver. I love him. Still... Fenris thread... so *ahem*... enough of that.

Adorkable? LOL! Hey, we all deviate on here from time to time. Besides, it's related to Fenris in a roundabout took a wrong turn on the highway sort of way.

Anders in ACT III reaminds me of Fenris in ACT I in some ways. Fenris grows as a person through the years. Anders seems to... wilt for lack of a better word. I haven't had my morning tea yet.

In order to get Carver 100% maxed yeah, you do need Legacy. You can get him friended in the game, and get his friendship up by carefully choosing dialogue options, and taking him on quests. Still, you can only get him like 80% Friendship that way, which, for the siblings is all you need to get their friendship dialogue to trigger. I befriended Carver twice. On my first PT as a mage, and on my canon PT with Gwenya as a mage. He has the best gallows end-game lines OMG... THE BEST. I was like "Carver, I love you so hard right now.. I wish I had a brother, and I wish he was just like you!"

So yeah... Legacy. I snatched it up as soon as it was released. I will be forever disappointed at the lack of Fenris banter, but the DLC itself it quite fun and satisfying to play through, especially with a sibling. Also, just for the Fenris comforting statement alone I adore it. It may not be romance lines, but Fenris does have some good banters in Legacy. Also.. magister... chance.. to..kill...magister... couldn't resist.

I pretty much agree Nappa -- Fenris and Anders tolerate each other at best, and can't stand each other at worst. I don't think they would try to kill each other or anything, but I think if left to their own devices they would not associate with each other given the choice. Hawke is their liaison that brings them together. Yet even then they don't stand each other for very long. Fenris gets quite short with Anders and Anders gets quite short with Fenris. It's pretty clear how they feel about each other. They are both intelligent and mature enough to know how to work together and tolerate each other, however.

Edit: My bad I forgot to add that YES Caite's comic is on her DA.. it's split into various images, but the start is right here...

Wall of text from me this morning, I'm afraid. I replied in a text doc as I went, so here's my whole brain dump.

I have to admit I have never been able to see something special about Feynriel. People keep talking about his ears, but I just see human ears. There must be something wrong with my eyes. xD

I don't recall it being the ears so much as head shape and facial structure.

Yeah, looked up a pic on the wiki http://dragonage.wik...m/wiki/Feynriel - he has normal ears. It's the head shape and the slant of his eyes. I don't recall any other humans in DA2 with that eye angle. The pic by himself doesn't look like that much, but if you put him next to an elf and a human (like during the night terrors quest) you can see how he's a blend of the two.

Arquen said
Back to Fenris... I'm pretty firm in the camp of no children and no marriage. The Chantry doesn't smile on elf/human relationships, and in Thedas the Chantry is the only institution of marriage. Of course wedding and marriage and being committed to each other are different things. I don't see Fenris ever being ready to be a father. I don't see Hawke or Fenris giving a flying fig about weddings or marriage. Still, all this is a personal thing in the end.

The fact that elf/human children are born human is controversial at best because of Feynriel and his not so human looks. Still, it doesn't seem any truly elven looking children are born of elf/human either. As Feynriel's mother says -- he is scorned by both Dalish and human as an outcast. Either way I doubt Fenris/ Hawke would give a rats arse about political and societal implications. Especially not an apostate Hawke and especially not Fenris who was never welcomed in any society.

Yup, I agree with all of that.

Though I was thinking about it this morning and realized that I've spent a lot of time in my head about my rogue Hawke and how she feels about her childhood (moving around a lot, having to be her sister's protector from a young age) and I think that colors a lot of my opinions about Hawke/Fenris offspring. Everyone else's mileage may vary, but for my head canon there are no kids on the horizon.

Also

Oh I should add that this is the Fenris thread and we are argumentative, rabid fangirls who eat all fresh meat... at least that seems to be the rep. Lmao.

I have to say, as relatively fresh meat myself - I've only been around a few weeks - I haven't found that to be true! People have been very nice to me. It's been great. (Though of course I am trying to be respectful of other people's thoughts and clear about what's my head-canon rather than actual canon. I can only assume that helps.)

Aldien and Arquen - I will have to go look for that comic! Sounds great // update: now I don't HAVE to look! Thanks for the link Arquen!

I hadn't really thought about it that way, but it's true. Fenris FINDS himself in the course of the story, and Anders LOSES himself to Justice. Fenris gains his freedom and Anders loses his. No wonder they're such perfect foils for one another. And how sad for Anders.

And a tangentially related note -- since we've been talking about the DLCs --  I finished playing through Legacy for the first time last night. Alas for Fenris' bugged romance dialogue, which I would have loved to have heard (but I read it on the wiki instead). But on the whole, I have to say in terms of gameplay I found Legacy to be a lot more interesting than Mark of the Assassin (which was kind of had the main concept of "hang out with Felicia Day in video game form!" and I don't really care about Felicia Day). Much more interesting world building, and the companions had a lot of good dialogue. (And I loved that I could bring Bethany. My Hawke misses her sister.)

Feynriel... bah! This is the Fenris thread :P. Still I have always seen the slightly pointed ears and larger, slanted eyes that suggest Feynriel isn't fully human. He has elven features, and that is something to note since it sort of thwarts the "all offspring are human" statement. However, as I said it's still pretty canon that elf/human offspring aren't ever going to look fully elvish since we have never seen an example of that. The most elven looking you can get is Feynriel apparently so there is that.

And now... more FENRIS... digging up some art to spam because I miss the thread and I have terrible insomnia right now.

I'd like to see him in the elven leather armor (rogue) that can be bought at Sundermount.

I think he'd also look smashing in the rogue pack II DLC outfit!!!

Robes of the Notorious Pirate looks great on women but stupidly and weirdly bulky on men.  But then Fenris does have a tiny figure, so it might actually look okay on him.

Oh I like the default "rogue armor" for Fenris, too ... it's the shirt and pants that Hawke is wearing after Act I when meeting Varric and can be bought anywhere throughout the game.  I think you pick up a nice version when killing the con artists in Lowton.

People keep mentioning the Chantry when discussing Fenris and marriage.  Maybe it's because I'm not religious, but I never meant to suggest that they would get married in the Chantry >.<  I envisioned more that they would do something privately together ... even if it's just exchange rings <3

lol, I am kinda religious, and i agree with you moto. if they did want to do it through the chantry, however, i figure they can find someone that wouldn't mind doing the ceremony. didn't soris (the city elf warden's cousin for those that didn't know) get married to a human? not all chantry personnel are strict. otherwise we'd never have the convo with tobrias about ser m. carver.

i do like the dissension armor. it could go pretty good with fenris. notorious pirate outfits works better for a female, IMO. other than those, i'm not sure which ones would work for him. i'm rather fond of his outfit as it stands.

I'll have to work on that Carver friendship. I'd like to experience that once. Only thing that annoys me about Carver is when he calls Fenris your pet elf. Wanted to smack him then. I think he's just jealous Hawke as an elf and he doesn't. :P

Thanks for the link! Must go read now! :)

I like this topic. Imagining Fenris in various outfits is always fun or... in no clothes.

I prefer the dissension armor, though he'd be hard to hug or kiss in that armor. I just can't see blue being Fenris's color. I was going to say Grey Warden armor but then again that's blue. Is there any armor with a bit of green in it?

*hugs to everyone* I hope I never come across sounding argumentative. It's not my intention. Sometimes I get passionate about something we are discussing, but it's never meant to be an argument. I'm only seeing a bit of debate at the moment. But if I ever offend anyone please let me know. :)

The elven rogue armor I mentioned is green and preeettyyy.  I love it.  It's very Frenis.  If it helps to remember what it looks like (or if you've never picked it up) ... there is a darker version that you pick up in Act 3, The Last Straw, when you fight all those demons in the "atrium" area, where you spoke earlier with Meredith's assistant Elsa in "On the Loose."

No one's ever offended me here!  (Don't think I ever offended anyone ... hope not ).  I'm kind of shy and easily hurt though *pokes dirt with toe*  I get scared and hurt if someone starts speaking their side rather aggressively.  "No, it CAN'T be this" and "This will NEVER happen."

I am a wimp :crying:  Usually when I get to feel like that I will just walk away from a RL conversation or forum for a few hours or days.

***I think the "darker" version of the pretty green elven rogue armor I'm talking about is called "Dragonhide Mantle of the Predator" and can be found in Templar Hall during The Last Straw.

Can't find any pics though D:

He has slightly pointed ears - that's the clue he has Elvhen heritage. Danarius also has these ears.

Hawke doesn't seem to care much what other people think of him/her. I doubt public opinion would be a reason not to take children. Fenris is also not someone who desperately wants to be liked by people and who would change himself just to appeal to the nobles or something. So I think neither will give a damn about what other people think about them, and their children.

I disagree. In Act 3 during talks with Senechal Brian (or whathever his name is) and a few other ppl, you are given option for Hawke to declare an interest in becoming Viscount/Viscountess.  This is a HIGHLY sought after position - very political.  Everyone seems to dismiss Hawke becuase she/he is a commoner from Ferelden, but it's an option that remains throughout Act III.

My point is: of course Hawke would care about others' opinions.  Hawke tries to use her influence as Champion to persuade certain important ppl - including nobles - to look to her/him for leadership.  This puts her into the public eye. In fact, you are given a special quest to meet with powerful residents who want to support Hawke's bid for Viscount/Viscountess.

Since Gamlen squandered the estate and all the money they have no way of getting into the locked city without making money and doing favors. His debt might be forgiven because they get free help for a year, but they DO get you into Kirkwall. It is indentured servitude as Leandra says. Not slavery. And there is a payoff and freedom there to choose your path.[/quote]
Right, but Gamlen owes these people money - he didn't just go borrow the money.  The Hawke family gets into Kirkwall at the cost of Hawke and sibling working off their debt + Gamlen's debts.  Maybe Gamlen's debts are covered by the "finder's fee" he complains about after Hawke becomes champion (Gamlen complains that the Viscount should have given him a finder's fee).

We agree (again) but for different reasons.  From what sources do you get this chantry's opinion on elf/human relationships? I haven't come across this yet - but then again, I have not played DA:O.

I find most Elves in DA2 have a distinctive look/appearance:
  • Their eyes are wider, set apart
  • Their eye color is bright
  • They have huge "doll eyes" like the effect you get from circle lenses (large pupils/big eyes/bigger outer rings of irises)
  • Their build is slight/lithe
  • They (most) have have a broad nasal bridge and straight noses.
  • They have no facial or body hair except eyebrows and scalp hair.

I would like to start a new page with some nice images? I haven't spammed images in a while.

HAHAHAHA So hilarious, especially that last one ... although I think the ones without Fenris go in the Anders thread? Still, I am appreciative xDDDDD

One more? For MotoMotogirl and other female DA2 who love the m!Hawke+Fenris relationship.  Here's a nice default m!Hawke with warpaint -- HOW could Fenris not! resist?
