Trust me, I was extremely disappointed when I played my Hawke and the Act III relationship between Hawke and Fenris was never acknowledged. Obviously, since the game was finished, my Hawke had made up with him, had a big smooching kiss at the end, and then in Legacy he is telling Hawke that is nice to see her again. So... no Act III acknowledgement as far as I can tell.

WTH?!  I mean, do they just ENJOY screwing with us Fenris fans?

Sigh.  And now it seems like DA2 is finished.  No more DLC or expansion.  Since I'm not a huge fan of DA:O, I have a feeling I won't enjoy DA3 as much as I've lived and breathed DA2.  There will never be another Hawke and Fenris for me...

Fenris has always been neglected in my opinion. Both DLC's were aimed more towards other companions than him. Actually, come to think of it, both Fenris and Merrill kind of get the crappy end of the stick. A shame too because I could have done with less attention devoted to some of the other companions.

I love DA2. I think it's a superb story. I bought ME3 on a recommendation from a friend and played for three hours and put it down. It's just... ugggggg. And, yes it was the first ME I have played in the series. DA2 is a billion times better in so many ways. All I have to say is ME3 has the worst lip synching I have ever seen in any game. I think of all the little facial nuances in DA2, like Fenris's wrinkly nose, and then look at ME3 and cringe. People were way too hard on DA2. Better story than Skyrim. Better companions than ME3 imo. Definitely better LI's!

And now I think all that fussing is going to basically leave DA2 fans with nothing but our fond memories.
I'm going to get hit, but I ummmm.... tried DA:O and I didn't like it for various reasons and I put it down. I think DA2 spoiled me for life.

If Fenris is not in DA3, in a major role, I won't buy it. Honest truth. I don't like switching the main protagonist, plus it wouldn't feel right without my elf. And like you said Moto... There will never be another Hawke and Fenris for me...

So I guess my DA days are numbered. DA3 will take precedence, Fenris will be forgotten and that will be it. Quite depressing really.

Then I don't think you will be buying DA3, because the chance Fenris will have a major role in that one is practically zero. It is possible he died in people's games when siding with the mages, meaning the biggest thing they'll give him is a short cameo.

I'm still looking forward to the next DA game, though. I love the companions in Origins, just as I love my DA2 party members. I trust David Gaider and the others will come up with new interesting and funny personalities to win my heart.
But Fenris will always keep a special place there.

I thought porting your decisions between games was one of Bioware's specialties?

I know he won't have a major role but therein lies half of my problems. The other half is lack of continuity. I think DA:O proved that people generally don't like major characters thrown to the side in favor of new characters imo.

Problem with the Warden is that this character got too many choices to take into account in a new game. It is simply too complicated, too expensive. DAO was initially not made with a sequel in mind, unlike Mass Effect, so it's not the same. David Gaider actually said they are now struggling with how to implement a very important decision in DAO in future games.

And if they had done what you say, with keeping the same characters, we would not even have had Fenris now in DA2. ;)

Why wouldn't we have Fenris? If you keep the same protaganist surely they can meet new companions along the way? Leave one home pick a different one to take out. Maybe have new romances, cheat on their partners etc.

This particular game is very story driven. When you start cutting that into pieces there is a lack of continuity and it becomes disjointed. It will only get worse with the next sequel imo.

Problem is you have people emotionally attached and invested in their companions. When you throw those companions to the side people feel jaded. ME3 has turned out to be a perfect example of that very thing.

I think Renjility is probably right about that.

Moving on from one game to another is hard when you are really attached to the story.  I tried to play DA2 right after DAO and I put it down because I couldn't get into it -- I hardly got to Kirkwall before putting it away. DAO and how much I loved it was still too fresh. But 9 months later (or whatever it was) I thought, "Hmm, I'm bored, maybe I'll try DA2 again" and I immediately loved it. I think the key is just to give yourself some time and not expect the game to be the SAME. It never is, no matter what game you're talking about or who is designing it.

Personally, I think the Dragon Age world is really interesting. I won't rush out and buy DA3 immediately; I'll probably wait a while for patches to come out and the price to drop a bit. But when I do, I won't expect it to be a continuation of DA2, I'll look at it as another story from a world I really find interesting.

(But I know about myself that I'll be obsessive about something for a while, and eventually get bored and move on. So I won't get the next game until I'm ready to try something new. That's how it works for me. YMMV, of course.)

Hello Fen lovers....sorry been delinquent on posting.  Been commiserating on a certain ME3 thread (that will NOT be named...gugh!!)  Though, I believe there are a few Fen-loving posters who post on that thread as well.  ANYWHO!!  Because @aldien brought up ME3, DAO, the next DA3 game, I figured I would give her some foods for thought:  I have come to LOVE the DA franchise BECAUSE it isn't a continuing story.Posted Image
I know, shocking ain't it??Posted Image  Reason is, if they don't continue the story of the avatar you created (i.e. YOUR Hawke, YOUR Warden), then you don't have to worry about them messin' it up!!!!    Just have the imports continue to effect side or secondary quests, and we can keep our little fantasy' alive.Posted Image

BTW, @aldien, I will grant you your wish to see my F!Hawkes, but I only have a few of them on photobucket for a moment.  Here are a few though:

Mari Hawke, Aggro/DW rogue
Posted Image

Falon Hawke, Aggro/Snarky S&S warrior

And just for you I am changing my avatar to my Mace Hawke, till I can get a good pic of her.  Just because you are you!!Posted Image

LOVE your Hawkes!  Especially the one with Fenris' matching hair ;)
And I've bolded what I totally agree with   I always loved both DA games though, even both are quite different.

Ah Fenris - I've been missing Mr. Broody lately.
Here's some elf!

I don't care for DA:O either! I was afraid to say that in thread. I HATE those graphics. I hate that my protagonist lacks a voice. What's the point of setting a voice if u can't use it.  I get tired of roaming all over the damn map. Mind you - I do enjoy that sometimes.

I agree with you 100% on all fronts! They wouldn't include Fenris in the comics - they have Varric and Isabela with that guy from DA:O but left Fenris out?? :(  :crying:

I played up to the point where Hawke gets the key, and then ... I got bored.

The "let's ignore Act 3 altogether" Fenris romance banter annoyed me and put a sour taste in my mouth.

I tried to go back to my warrior!Hawke x Fenris playthrough, but I got bored with that, too.

In short, I'm bored with DA2.  It's been 6 months since MOTA.  We need more.  Something.  ANYTHING. <_<

I think I'm done with the forum Kemz. I'm starting to find it extremely depressing to come here and discuss Fenris knowing that there probably won't be anymore DLC for DAII, and knowing also, that he probably won't be in DA3. I'd rather discuss him in fanfiction than be limited to the dev's paltry lack of focus on him. There's still plenty of people writing him in the DA fanfiction, Gingergen being one of them. I'm going to get around to reading her story today hopefully.

Besides, I feel like everyone is just telling met to get over it and get excited about DA3. No thanks. Funny, considering it is the Fenris thread.

I might still contribute occasionally. But, overall, I'm seeing lack of support for the character and it upsets me. So, I'd rather read people bringing him alive and continuing his story instead of accepting it has ended. *shrugs* I dunno. Too depressed by this. :crying:

To MotoMotoGirl and Aldien:

There is plenty of DA2 fan-made comics that include Fenris!!! I will get around to posting a few strips. If you see any, please post!

Sorry to hear this @ Aldien - and I wish they had included Fenris in DA3. There may be additional fan-made videos on Fenris - I'm waiting for new releases.

Those of us who are saying that we're still looking forward to DA3 and that Fenris isn't our deciding factor on the game aren't showing "a lack of support for the character", Aldien. Hell, if I had that kind of attitude about the LIs I liked, I'd have never played DA2 because Zev got only a tiny cameo and the flag imports for his romance are screwed up.

Would I like to see more of Fenris? Sure, absolutely. No question! But I'm not going to throw a tantrum if his official story is more-or-less over at the end of DA2, because I'm sure there will be characters I like in DA3, just as there were in DA2 aeven though I loved characters in Origins. I can fill whatever I want post-DA2 for Fenris with my own imagination.

I don't have to commit my feelings exclusively Fenris and DA2 in order to love them! If the lack of continuation in the game series bothers you, then it bothers you, but it's not exactly a new thing between DA2 and DA3, and not necessarily a bad thing, either. (Or, conversely, not necessarily a good thing - it all depends on how it's handled.)

It's also a little early, I'd say, to be complaining about how there's not going to be anything else for DA2 and/or what's going to be done with DA3. DA2 is only a year old, and there has been no announcement that the DLC is over. With DA3, absolutely nothing has been confirmed about it save that neither Hawke nor the Warden will be the main character. Again, if you want to be negative about it, that is of course up to you, but I don't have to agree, and I don't really see a benefit in being negative.

You know, Harle, I used to find the way you responded when emphatic about something an insult. But now I just giggle and think, yep that's my Harle. Maybe I should stick around. I think I'd miss your rants. And I do mean that in the nicest way possible. :)

I'm not throwing a tantrum. I'm new to DA and to the concept of what they do with their stories. I'm simply disappointed that the DLC's so far have not given Fenris enough focus. That also includes Merrill.  I tried two other Bioware games because I liked DA2. But the LI's and the companions are not as interesting as DA2 imo.

After reading the fans disappointment with DA2 and why, I think I am going to end up in the same boat if and when DA3 is released. Plus, if they do decide to release more DA2 DLC I have my doubts Fenris will receive the attention that we would like to see. *shrugs* just the opinion of a disillusioned woman.

Ladies, ladies, let's all recall that we are Sisters in Fenris ; there's no need to squabble  I kid; I know no one is squabbling.  But come now, let's all share a cyber hug and try not to dwell on the bad things.  Hey, even if Fenris has been abandoned by his own creators, we, his fans, will never let him die.  That's partly what this thread is about.

It's true, I am bored with DA2.  I do need something more to keep me interested, and I DO have a sneaking suspicion that I won't get it.  But I know that in a month or more I'll return to DA2 yet again, ready to romance Fenris, yet again (and maybe Anders on a side-playthrough >.>), and maybe even convince myself to play Legacy after Act 2 so it makes SENSE.  *lol*

It's easy to get depressed about stuff, so let's work hard to stay positive instead =]

I agree completely with you.:) I have really not forgotten about Fenris. I am still fanatically writing my fiction, and there are actually people reading and liking it, so the character is not dead yet. Not for me, and not for a whole lot of other people.

I have been reading Fenris smut lately on fanfiction, and oh Maker, is that hot. I'm in permanent arousal state at the moment because of all those awesome stories. xD

Ah... yes, well I do feel the positive vibes of this thread glistening my way as always. It's been an uphill struggle to have a voice on this thread since six months ago.  I'll call it quits now. I guess I'm a bit tired of debate. Originally, I just came here to have a laugh and enjoy all that was Fenris. But... it seems I tend to annoy people more than anything. Who wants to deal with that s-h-i-t? We all have enough hell to deal with every day. I really, believe it or not, just enjoy making people laugh not upsetting them. I guess I lost sight of that somewhere along the way. I've taken myself too seriously.

Maybe, if we are lucky we will see more Fenris. That's my hope for everyone.

Thanks Bioware for a great character. <3<3<3

Take care everyone. I wish you the best. I honestly do. *hugs*

And, Harle, I'm sorry we argued a while back. Make a funny on here some time and smile. :)
