Well......sucker punched twice in just under two weeks time.  First Thane's character assassination in ME3, then this.  This is just........sad.

gotta go.

I've been hearing... things about ME3. Not good things. Finally went and watched all of the endings(and read about what happened to Thane). And I'm thinkin'... naw.  Played the other two games, but I'm not going to buy the third. 

As frustrating as it is that we won't be getting any more DA2 loveliness, I'm hoping that we get something soon about DA3. Can't help but be excited. 
Just so long as we don't get that cameo of Fenris, only to have him like... insane and ranting somewhere.

Yes, very disappointing indeed. Was hoping for a more decent ending. Guess it'll be waiting for DA3 now, and hope it's improved in certain areas compared to DA2.

I have had my three biggest dissapointments in my gaming history
1. ME3 ending
2. Thane in ME3
And now...This.... No more Fenris or Hawke.

Im really regretting I ever took up my first BW game now. They keep throwing punches at me. Im tired of being hit all the time

There's someone who has written multitudes of stories concerning Fenris. I will keep them in my thoughts because I know how much this announcement is going to break their heart as it has already mine. At least it was a dignified ending.

Mark Darrah also noted that this new game will create a fresh starting point and, at this moment, does not appear to be taking an import from Origins or from DA2.

Well, I think if this is truly going to be done, we can even say goodbye to our relative Fenris cameo. Without imports, the next game will not even know our Hawkes romanced the broody elf. Clean slate, what a joke. Besides a few companion related decisions (some companions can die, plus romance), DA2 would not even have any other variables that need to be implemented in the next game.

I think what he meant by "clean" is "without bugs."

Personally, though, as much as I love Fenris, I don't want to see him cameo in DA3. Why? Because Hawke isn't going to cameo, and Fenris should be with Hawke.

He is saying "a clean slate of choices". That has nothing to do with bugs, as far as I can tell. Considering David Gaider already mentioned they had trouble implementing all the possible choices DAO offered, I think this is probably going to be their 'solution'. It's not that unexpected or surprising, but feels like a let-down nevertheless, especially considering all the promises the made prior to DA2.

And with and import, technically Hawke could cameo as well. He/she has a voice, so why not? Only issue would be the way Hawke looks if it's not the default, but again, with import, transfering the face should be possible (modded faces will not work, so my Hawkes are in trouble anyway).

I think I may be interpreting these comments the same way as @Renjility. Doesn't mean I can't be wrong, and might very well be. The only thing that worries me about this, is that if they do in fact take longer, this time around, to produce the next DA game, it might come out by the time new consoles are out (new xbox/ps). I don't think BW or EA will give up their console revenue, and imports over updated hardware may be difficult. If they can implement 'the cloud" better on xboxLive, and set up similar through PSN, maybe it wouldn't be a problem, but until I see that happen, my guess is this might be why they will start with a clean slate.

They REALLY, REALLY should not have scrapped the expansion!

Honestly, I don't think we can trust anything they say. They're developing quite a reputation for promising one thing and doing another.

Perfect example: Two blank spots in Hawke's house that will NEVER be filled.

I think I would've been more accepting of this if they did one more dlc to actually conclude Hawke's arc like they promised. But nope. ~*Speculations for everyone*~ just like with Mass Effect 3.

I'll probably still buy whatever they churn out next but at the moment, dear god, I still feel so butthurt as both someone who adores Hawke as a protagonist and is unwilling to let go of him/her, and someone who once again has her favorite love interest screwed out of getting a dlc based on them. Bioware why you hate your elven love interests so.

I actually was thinking the same thing....not enough love for the Elves. (or space elves....ok really handsome lizard men)
I was soooo hoping for new DA2 DLC/Expansion.  Even started another Hawke just in case......don't worry Fen Fen....momma's still gonna give ya sum luvin'.

Which comes to concern, that I just love repeating, our DA characters are suppose to be extensions of ourselves in game form be it warden or Hawke....sadly neither of mine resemble me in thought or action. I would agree with this...for me, the whole point of role-playing is to role-play as someone who is not me. For instance, I do not go around stabbing people to death or throwing fireballs or hitting on random strangers in real life...but I do in video games! But I do want to have control over the character I am playing and who they become. Whether or not that character is a reflection of me.
