I wouldn't say they're annoying, but I'm new here and I don't know you guys well enough yet to call anyone annoying. lol

All of you have been helpful and I really do appreciate the info about Fenris. I know I will want to romance him again.

It's good to know that my instincts about Varric were correct. He's a likeable character and it's easy to become friends with him.

I was suprised that you could click on the characters to talk to them too. I figured it out by accident on my first playthrough. I think Fenris was the first character I clicked on. I was surprised when he said something other than "Hawke". I can't remember what he said to her though. I didn't understand the rivalry thing the first time I played the game so I was trying to get him back to the friend zone and I think I got him there toward the end, but I don't think it was at more than 60 to 70 percent. My first Hawke didn't get a kiss from him or anything from him, but my second Hawke did.

Bethany lived both times I played and I still sided with the templars. I still like Anders as a character. I just don't think he's a very good romance option. I think he would be better if Justice wasn't a part of him. At least then, he may have been able to be reasoned with. I don't like Justice. I didn't like Justice in Awakenings either.

I think Anders is an utter sweetheart. He's really the complete opposite of selfish; his only selfish act in the game is allowing himself to fall in love with Hawke. But that should be saved for the Anders thread, I suppose.

Guys, I am playing Mass Effect 3, and I have to say, so far it is soooo boring. The characters have like NO report with each other, and the voice actors, well, some of them are just so stiff! Male Shepherd's VA seems completely incapable of expression emotion. And in the scenes with Kaidan (who I'm romancing), it just feels ... dead.

It's NOTHING like Hawke and Fenris. I mean you can totally feel sparks flying between those two as soon as they meet. And I can even admit it's the same for all the DA2 companions. There's just something THERE. It's the writing, I guess. DA2's writing is just top notch.

It just makes me sad because people praise ME like it's a god among video games, but yet DA2 gets trashed, and so far, for me, DA2 has been the best game I've ever played...

Oh hey, dralkjin  I'm just messing around with Moto and Ren. We tend to torment each other in a good way, well I'm only serious 50% of the time :P:D:P Seriously, we just joke around with each other and if you stick around you will be pestered as well. ;)

Gah, uggggg, nooooooo.... Moto , Maker's great balls how is Anders sweet? From the beginning he wants something from Hawke and from everyone. He reminds me of a guy trying to get a free ride off everyone else without putting the effort in.

Those maps aren't his and what if the warden he stole them from needed them? He uses Hawke to help with Karl, he lies, he murders a bunch of innocent people, ruins Hawke's life and potentially the other companion's lives  in Kirkwall, puts Hawke in an awful bind, makes it so he either becomes a martyr, or if Hawke shows him mercy then Hawke has Starkhaven and the templars after him/her, and at the end it's not about how he loves Hawke, it is about the great rebellion.

I just don't get what people see in him. He is, for a lack of a better word, a user. And just plain nuts.  It also screws over everyone else caught up in the mess.

I put Anders out of his misery, because let's face it, given another chance he would justify (ha!) why he needs to go blow up another Chantry to prove his point. He's a terrorist. What about the people in the Chantry? What if there were children in there that day? Anders is past caring about anyone else. He's the only one who has ever been a victim as far as he is concerned. That is the biggest difference between him and Fenris. There is whining, which doesn't hurt anyone else, maybe it gives them a headache, and then there is taking your anger out on innocent people. There's no grey line there. It's just slaughter. Too much entitlement when it comes to Anders.

DA2 is a much better game with lots of character and great voice acting and good facial expression.  There really is no contest. DA2 wins hands down in my book. But I am biased

Sorry for my rant. I REALLY don't like Anders. :bandit:

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Anders is a d-bag. He may have falled in love with hawke (regardless of you romancing him or not), but even still, he was willing to out his rebellion above everything. Selfless? Blowing up the Chantry, killing many innocents and the only person in the whole of Kirkwall that was keeping the mages and templars from killing each other? Sure, totally selfless...

Now, comparing Mass Effect and Dragon Age... Me personally, I think Mass Effect is the superior game. DA2 is good, so far, but I feel that it needed a bit more time in production to give it some polish. A lot of the dungeons are cut and paste, and many of the quests are irritatingly short. The voice acting is good, a bit wooden in places, but it's good. But Jennifer hale as femshep beats them all (she's the reason I mostly play as Femshep. I agree though, that mark Meer is very wooden). Even Joanne Wyatt (Lady Hawke) is good, and better than her male counterpart. Seems like trend, doesn't it?

But, the reason I prefer Mass Effect to Dragon Age is because no other game series has made my pulse race, cheer loudly, and then cry like a blubbering baby in scene. ME3 had so many moving scenes and bittersweet triumphant moments, that I give the game a solid 8/10 (DA2 so far has a solid 7/10. So far). ME has a very deep story, and the main antagonists (the Reapers) are a real threat. One thing that I think DA2 did wrong was having no real antagonist. Plus, I didn't really like the time skips, they seemed very clumsy and uneeded.

Also, I really feel that the characters in ME are far more fleshed out and interesting. By You really get to know the characters on such a deep level. Even Legion. So, when they had their scripted deaths in ME3, I actually cried. Plus, ME has Garrus "Space Batman" Vakarian. He is, hands down, possibly the most badass Bioware companion and love interest ever.

Like in DA2 I only ever romance Fenris, I always romance Garrus. Why? Because like you said about Hawke and Fenris, my Femshep and Garrus clicked almost immediately, so I was quite sad when he wasn't romancable in ME1. I had to settle for Kaiden <_<. So when ME2 rolled around and he was romancble, I wasted no time in activting it. And y'know, I thought it was perfect. There was nothing exclipcite, but that was not needed. They way they acted around each other, the way Garrus supported and stood by you no matter your decision, never questioning your judgement because he trusts you THAT MUCH. You could tell just how much they cared about each other, and just how much Garrus wanted a proper relationship and not just a fling. Plus, his awkward and bubmling methods of charming femshep are incredibly sweet and funny. Also, have you noticed that he and Tali are the only characters that join you throughout all three of the games? And that Garrus is usually recruited very early on? It's like Bioware WANTS your femshep to romance him.

And then ME3 rolled around, and my Femshep/Garrus fangirl had a freakin' feld day.

So yeah... I just personally think ME is better than DA2. But then again, ME has had three games to develop the story and characters. And the characters to interact once you get them all on the Normandy. James, Kaiden and another NPC even start playing cards in the Normandy Lounge! Character interaction was one thing DA2 did right, but ME had done so many other things right. So, yeah, that's why I think ME is the superior game.

Just my opinion. That's all.

@ moto - sweet thing, did you play ME1 or ME2? If not, I really suggest you play those two games....and since I remember from some of your previous writings about some of the things you tend to like in these games, I might suggest that you just play ME2. (course, if you have already played them, than just ignore this post). I might even suggest skipping me3Posted Image, but that is solely my opinion. I played the first two ME games multiple times (have 4 F!Sheps and 4 M!Sheps), but I can't even finish one play through of me3..........and probably never will. But again, just my opinion, and this post is not Fenris-y enough, so I'll be back in a sec.....................

*EDIT* Have a FenrisPosted Image

Mass Effect 1 and 2 were awesome beyond words. ME2 possibly had the best set up for the third game. When I first say it, it a simultaneous "Oh crap" and "Hell yes!" moment for me.

DA2, I feel, just kinda... ended.

EDIT:: Hmm, there's a distinct lack of Fenris in this post. How do I post images?

Oh no, I haven't ^///^  I am dog-sitting at my sister's house and so I'm paying her hubby's ME3 (I haven't bought it).  He also bought ME2, and I did start to play it, but if you don't have an ME1 save and you play as Male Shepherd then Kaidan automatically dies!!!!!  I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed about that.  Since I want to romance Kaidan, I couldn't play ME2, so I had to play ME3 with no import.

So far I am majorly disappointed wth the romance aspect, mainly because THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY!!!  Dang, after like 12 hours of playtime, you'd think there'd be SOMETHING.  Heck I think Hawke and Fenris had already at least FLIRTED at this point.

As for the game itself, well, I did a lot of fetch and carry crap to gain reputation or experience or whatever the heck you have to gain in this game.  And that's another thing, its so dang complicated!  I'm playing on casual so I don't hurt my brain thinking too much about how to upgrade stuff.  DA:O and DA2 are ridiculously easy in that regard.

The main plotline reminds me way too much of DA:O; it's basically DA:O set in Star Trek universe  Gather all your forces to defeat the big bad generic bad guys (who look like the robot squid things in the Matrix, by the way... am I the only one who noticed?!).  Except instead of getting the dwarves to get along with the elves you're getting the turians to get on with the ... asari or whomever.  I only know two alien names lol there are too many ORL

Plus my Shepherd is kinda fugly  He's hot from the cheekbones up, but he has this flat ironed out nose, massive lips, and a jaw that juts out for a mile.  WTH he totally did not look like that in character creation.

The Companions, I like them, but they aren't very fleshed out, this coming of course from someone who hasn't played the first two games.  I think I like Jeff and Liara the best.  I like all the asari ... OMG I totally love that asari who is like a crime lord, the one who hangs out in the night club!!!  She's so cool ... she's actually petty hot lol I was getting some lesbian feels from her.  Totally wouldn't mind "hanging out" with her a bit, hehehe xD

Oh, um ... Fenris rocks?!  Damn, now no longer am I not talking about Fenris, but I'm not even talking about DA2 :pinched:

I kind of would like to play a space opera game like ME but with the DA2 (and even DA:O) companions. Wouldn't that be fun?  I wonder what roles they'd all play.

Oh, and those big frog-like guys, um, hello, Klingons much?!  But I like how the female just ripped the gun out of that jerk's hand and shot the bad guys lol BioWare, you DO know how to write great women, you know that, don't you?

I don't think you're giving the game enough credit. And y'know, I like my Mass Effect the way it is. Dragon Age is Dragon Age, and Mass Effect is Mass Effect - a love letter to every fan of Sci-Fi everywhere (which is why there are so many references to other Sci-fi franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars. Unfortunately, a lot of content is unavailible unless you import a save from the previous game (like a Femshep romance with Garrus, and a Manshep romance with Tali). Oh, and you can't romance Kaiden in ME2 - as male or female. Ashley is default because in the previous game, you have to sacrifice either Kaiden or Ashley to advance the plot. Ashley's default for Manshep, and Kaiden's default for Femshep.

Your companions don't seem fleshed out to you probably because you haven't played any of the previous games. The game assumes that you have, so what seems like lack of character development to you is... well, lack of it. But the game assumes you know them already (shrugs). It's the last game in a trilogy, that's been building up to the massive war against the Reapers (those squid robot things). In the third and last game, the Reapers are now on Earth. The war has begun.

Mass Effect, to me, is one big story separated into three games. It's why I wouldn't recommend starting with ME3, because you've missed out on all the build-up in story and characters that came with the first two. It's like having a trilogy of books and starting with the second. This is where DA and ME differ, I find. Just give ME2 a chance, it's a great game.

But... here's a site where you can download previous saves (assuming you're playing on PC. Might work for consoles though): www.masseffectsaves.com. Before I got ME1 off steam, I used it to get a save from it. Fixed soooo many problems I ran into, just cos I didn't have a ME save.

And hey! Wrex is not a jerk! Well... ok, fine. He kinda is... but he's still a total badass and he was one of my best buds in ME1! And I'm sorry, but I don't see any resemblance between the Krogan and Klingons. My boyfriend is probably one of the biggest Star Trek nerds I've ever met, and he never said they looked alike. And yeah, the Asari are pretty cool. But I prefer the Turians, and then the Krogan, and then the Quarians. Speaking of Asari, the crime lord Asari is named Aria T'Loak. She's voiced by Trinity ;)

Now, back to Dragon Age. I can see Fenris as a Vanguard. Mostly because Vanguards have a special Biotic Charge move that causes them to ram a Biotic fueled punch at their opponent. He reminds me a lot of Jack. Difference beinf that Fenris is a dude, wears more clothing, and is less crazy . . . relatively speaking.

You can tell I'm a die hard Mass Effect fan, can't you?^_^

Uh oh, now the game vs. the other game discussion has even reached this place. This is getting so old. I´ll say I like both ME and DA. Because I played DAO and DA2 so much, my boyfriend kept saying I should give Mass Effect a shot as well. I'm not really into sci-fi, so I didn't make haste with it, but when I finally bought ME1... well, I was sold, haha. And I got a crush on Garrus. xD I checked the wiki to see if he was romanceable, and saw I had to wait until ME2. So I kept declining Kaidan and Liara, who both decided they loved me without my Shepard showing any romantic interest.

Moto, I suggest you give the ME series a chance, and just start with the first game. The companions are what made DAO and DA2 for me, and it is the same with ME. The character interaction is there. Depending on the game, it's around the same level as in DA2.
I am also one of the people who liked ME3 very much. Damn, that game even made me cry once. No other game has managed to do that.

I like both series too. I just felt compelled to defend ME because, well, it's one of my absolute favourite game series. But DAO and DA2 are great games as well. DAO is the better of the two, I think.

And I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who was reduced to tears more than once during ME2.

Alright, my posts have been VERY Fenris devoid. Give me a moment...

So, *ahem* back to Fenris and general goofiness.
'
I was wondering this morning while I had my nice cup of tea and kitty purring next to me trying to paw at said tea, about Fenris. *gasp*

Anyway, this is a hypothetical. Say, after DA2 is finished and Hawke and Fenris run awat from Kirkwall, say, just for fun that they do settle down somewhere.

What I am wondering is... what sort of hobbies, if any, do you think Fenris might take up?

I was thinking possibly woodworking for some odd reason, even gardening because he does have that elfy gene whether he acknowledges it or not. Wine making??? Cooking? Okay, maybe not knitting.

I just thought it was a fun thing to think about. Any thoughts?

*hugs* everyone. Now calm the hell down :P that includes me *gets paddle out and will spank!* (already spanked self)

Aldian, I know that you're joking. I think it's great that all of you get along so well that you can joke with each other in that way. I do plan to stick around. So far I like it here. All of you seem to have a great sense of humor and we all have at least one common interest. We all like Fenris. That's why we're here, right?

Motomogirl, I dog sit for my cousin sometimes. I blame him for my addiction to the dragon age games. He got the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition for me to play while I stayed at his house for a month taking care of his dog. He gave me DA2 for my birthday. I haven't played any of the ME games yet so I can't give my opinion about them.

I still say that Anders isn't a good romance option, but that's just my opinion. Fenris is a better option for me. Yes, he's moody, but he doesn't hurt Hawke like Anders does.

Lordy back to this...well I'ma put my $0.01 and say: if anyone acts like something out of a DMS-IV-TR vibe, then I try to steer clear of the romance angle. And I mean the bad end. Plus any open ended scenario wiith Anders...leaves hawke with higher chances of ending up in a DC universe LI death...look it up and you shall face palm as well.

Least with Fenris its a lesser extreme, but its like marrying someone with Autism. Gotta make sure they take their pills, have a healthy emotional outlet and help them with cognative behavior sesions.

Or I could be biased sympathizing with Fenris more, even though I did give Anders several tries...and just said no to him after the 7th playthrough.

Aldy, I'm not mad :P I just needed to rant about ME3 to someone, and I know mah Fenris gals are always listening :D

Yeah I know I'm supposed to play the first two, but didn't you guys read my post?  He only has ME2 and ME3, and if I started ME2 with my male Shep then Kaidan dies, which means I can't romance him in ME3.  Capiche?

Similarity between the Krogan and the Klingons is that they are a very aggressive race, and the other folks have trouble getting them to agree to diplomatic solutions.  Happened all the time in ST. I don't need a ST-loving boyfriend to know that; I'M a ST fan :P  Especially a hardcore DS9 fan, which explored Klingon culture quite a bit.

DA peeps in ME universe, I think Isabela would be a pilot.  Merrill would be a doctor, or perhaps a scientist like Liara. Fenris a straight up soldier, nothing fancy.  But then how good of a soldier would he be without lyrium enhancements? He's a tough and wiry little guy, but he's still little.  I don't know.  Maybe he'd make a better sniper type.  Oh, duh, Anders would be the doctor.  I can see Zevran working as one of those Spectre assassins.  Alistair a diplomat.

I like the idea of Fenris taking up woodworking!  I can see that!  And he would carve little wooden animals for their children *kyahhh!!!*  He'd also garden, practical garden, like fruits and vegetables.  Hawke would read.  I always see Hawke as a great reader, in addition to a warrior.

I can't think of what Fenris might do for a hobby. Maybe dancing or stand-up comedy.
I was thinking of this conversation. lol

Varric: So what do you do in that gigantic house all day?
Fenris: Dance, of course.
Varric: Really?
Fenris: I run from room to room, choreographing routines.
Varric: You're actually joking. Alert the Chantry! They need to put this on the calendar!
Fenris: And you thought I was always serious.

I would go with "white."  "Silver" is a bit too purple prose-y for me.  Who really has silver hair?  Mostly older folks, and even then, it's not really silver; it's gray.

 I'd say white as well.
I'm not sure about Fenris and gardening. He is not a fan of "trampling in the dirt", so I don't know if he'd really like that as a hobby. My guess would be reading, once he has learned it, and maybe drawing?
@ aldien: lol, donut Fenris almost ready? Well, that's what you get for dumping Sims 2 and getting Sims 3:P And then the question rises what kind of life donut Fenris is going to live. Are you going to make a donut version of yourself as well and have donut Fenbabies?

For the most part, we do try to get along on this thread. I like to look at it as a friendly little oasis in the midst of the forum. 'Cept when Harle is around, then things heat up because I love Harle. It gets smexy. ;)

But, seriously, I hope you stick around and we get to know you. :D It's been a pleasure getting to know people on here. We do, for the most part, talk about Fenris, but we also throw in some personal info along the way :D Whatever works for you.

That's why he needs a hobby. He never had the chance to explore his potential while Danarius was after him. I have no idea how long he and Hawke were back together before the Final Straw, but probably not long enough for him to have fully grasped his freedom. Danarius was still warm to the touch I suspect. :P I guess that's why I always hope Hawke and Fenris end up settling down and Fenris learns what it is to be free. The elfy has earned it.

We are always listening :D *bro fist* I understand.

Just don't take my rants personally. I don't like to upset people.

When I talk about Anders I'm comparing him to Fenris. If I take him on his own, then my opinion of him is different. He needs therapy and is obviously mentally ill by Act III and before people jump down my throat, I suffer from Bipolar depression so I get it. I'm not sure mental illness is a great thing to try and portray in a game. If you rivalmance Anders it is very much about mental illness. As I recall, the person who wrote him said part of the inspiration was from dealing with a loved one with mental illness. I... would rather not see that in a game. Too close to home I guess. But there it is. Now everyone is depressed and ready to blow up Chantries. Hehehehe Sorry!

I like the idea of Fenris taking up woodworking! I can see that! And he would carve little wooden animals for their children *kyahhh!!!* He'd also garden, practical garden, like fruits and vegetables. Hawke would read. I always see Hawke as a great reader, in addition to a warrior.

You know with woodworking, there's lots of sharp instruments and cutting and sawing and beating. Suits Fenris I think. Awwwww I love the idea of him carving the animal. :D I see the practical gardening too. I know he hates dirt, but when you have to be self sufficient, you have to deal with dirt. He'd get used to it or start wearing some damn shoes! I do see Fenris picking flowers for Hawke. I can see him thinking something along the lines of: Will this help get Hawke in the mood? Or maybe Hawke will forgive me faster after my latest rant. Or maybe he will just stomp all over them ;)

That always brings to mind, Fenris and Hawke dancing in his mansion. But, either way, I loved it when he said that. Was it his first real sarcastic joke?

 I'd say white as well.
I'm not sure about Fenris and gardening. He is not a fan of "trampling in the dirt", so I don't know if he'd really like that as a hobby. My guess would be reading, once he has learned it, and maybe drawing?
@ aldien: lol, donut Fenris almost ready? Well, that's what you get for dumping Sims 2 and getting Sims 3:P And then the question rises what kind of life donut Fenris is going to live. Are you going to make a donut version of yourself as well and have donut Fenbabies?

I'd say kissed by moonbeams. But when has anyone ever listend to my silly s hit? ;)

He'd like it if it meant he would eat. Drawing... hmmmmmmm. OH! Drawing Hawke in the nude? They could have a whole Titanic scene on Isabela's ship ;)

ROFLMAO! Oh it hurts. You made me feel sick from laughing. I can't stop. Seriously, I can't.

We'd have the most beautiful damn donut babies you have ever seen!! They'd make helium Ander's head jealous. I'm talking about that pic I put up of Anders on Fenris's body. Though, Anders does kind of have a big head in the game doesn't he? Or is that just me? Someone once described his nose as proud. I... thought that was ummmmm sweet. Yeah... sweet.

Fenbear is a firefighter. I can't see him as a super hero, which is the police career ending, or a chef or a journalist, or a doctor, or a scientist and decided not the militairy because that would be too much like being with Danarius. You know, having to blindly follow orders? Too Qun. So firefighter. He gets to hack things with his big axe and be a humble hero. Awwwwwww *squishes him*

Still laughing.... :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Good point Ald in bringing up the mental illness facotr...it just gets cliche after awhile...like watching an old episode of Law & order over a sociopath that killed a hooker from a video game he played, thus the game is bad cause it gave him the idea....or he just wanted to because he's a sociopath!

Grrr plus as somsone with Autism that **** gets sooo played out when someone tries to make it poignant they either come off as rayman, Lenny, or Mommy dearest with a pick axe.

Only reason I might want to beg Fenris in that category cause I know people like him who just seem dependable in business/school errand interactions, but have no clue what to do in a social situation. And trust that is something I, personally, and a few others deal with...oh the joys of the interwebs.
