Right heavy comback after no internet for weeks ;_;

My vision of how they continue after Kirkwall is to some extent along the lines of what's been said already: Fenris and Hawke initially help get things going in Kirkwall but soon after move somewhere quiet and out of the hectic aftermath. I imagine Fenris is feeling worn out from his constant running from Danarius and now that he no longer needs to constantly look over his shoulder he wants some sort of normalcy in his life. Perhaps they move to Ferelden (inspired by the conversation Fenris and Hawke have where Fenris asks if she has considered going back. "Still, to have the option must be gratifying" made me think that while he himself may not want to go back to his home, he might like to follow Hawke to hers, possibly making it his own); wherever they go, it is somewhere on the outskirts of a town, where peace and quiet reigns and ease of mind comes easily.

They never have children in my stories. There is always some sort of complication; be it the lyrium in Fenris body or some early torture he was exposed to or he simply does not consider it an option, something always prevents it. They are happy, though, and while time doesn't heal all wounds, it makes the memory of them fade so much that Fenris in time puts most of his ghosts from his past behind him.

I always imagine them going out exploring, adventuring and getting into trouble, though. I mean, just as many soldiers of war seem unable to settle down after what they've experienced, I cannot see Fenris and Hawke staying put for long. They would use their home as a base of sorts, a gathering place, a waterhole for the rest of the gang to come together but eventually they would leave if for nothing else then to see the world. I'm 100% certain they will go to Seheron and seek out the Fog Warriors for some sort of redemption for Fenris just as surely as they will go back to Kirkwall to see Gamlen and the place they first met.
So.. after an initial cooldown period, it's business as usual. Just a bit more relaxed and with lots more light-hearted party banter. I imagine Varric having more success getting Fenris to drink and play cards with him :)

dralkjin wrote...I have a question. Does anyone think Hawke would ever call Fenris by his real name? Do you think Fenris would allow it or would he want to leave the name behind him?

I always wondered about this myself. I mean 'Fenris' was given to him by Danarius and as he hates everything Danarius stands for, the default logic would be to assume he'd reject it. But perhaps a name - even a forcifully given one - becomes personal after a time and changing it to what it once was would feel even more forced and fake than the one he has now. Also I can't imagine Fenris trying to explain that he now has a new (old) name to the rest of the gang; I'm sure that would feel extremely annoying and uncomfortable for him.

I would like to use his real name, though, and I think in my private fanfiction I'll write it in somehow. Perhaps as a personal pet name between the two of them for pillow talk? I haven't figured it out quite yet

Edit: EEEK sorry for wall of text!

^Fenris has a conversation with Aveline about his name, and the possibility to take a new one, and there it becomes apparent Fenris does not intend to change his name. I don't have the impression he hates his name. He certainly dislikes what it meant to his master, but by now the name is his. I think he has decided to make it his own and prove he is more than Danarius' pet.

An image for the new page. By now I have really lost track of what I have already posted once. Ah well.

Doesn't matter if you've posted this before. It's so very, very, very, very mmmm nice

Hmm I don't recall that conversation, perhaps it was one of my accidental skip incidents. I'll go check it out this afternoon when I get home, I really must see that. Thank Renji :)

 This is the conversation:

Fenris[/b]: You do not like your name?
Aveline[/b]: My name is a wish my father made. And I did want to be a knight, but...
Fenris[/b]: I see. Still, it's a good name. A strong name.
Aveline[/b]: What were you named after?
Fenris[/b]: I don't know my real name. My master called me Fenris, his "little wolf."
Aveline[/b]: Could you not call yourself something different now?
Fenris[/b]: Couldn't you?
Aveline[/b]: A fine point.

So the focus isn't that much on Fenris' name, but the "couldn't you?" suggests pretty clearly that he can't be bothered changing his name to something else. I suppose with lyrium branded in your flesh and your memory wiped, the name you have been given is the least of your worries.:?

Ah right, that one! I didn't recall it since I was very focused on the Aveline part back then (since Wesley died, I've felt it was up to me to make sure she was okay) but yeah you're right, it does seem like he doesn't really care that much. And yes, I'm sure graver concerns are on your mind when someone is trying to steal your freedom once again and bring you back to slavery, torture and whatnot.
Poor Fenris, I sometimes forget what he's been put through. :crying:

I always wondered if (through the names/pairings of Hawke and Fenris) there was this subtle homage being paid to the 1985 film Ladyhawke. A movie that I grew up with, no less. For those of you who don't know the plot, basically there's this husband and wife, but there's a curse put on them so that they can't be together. During the night, the man turns into a wolf, while his wife is human. During the day, the wolf turns back into a man, but the woman turns into a hawk. It's a romance/fantasy with a bit of comedy thanks to "ferris bueller" himself (Matthew Broderick) who plays an EXTREMELY young man at the time, caught in the middle of this sordid love affair, trying to help the husband and wife get back together in their human form.

And yes, I totally had a crush on Nevarre, the dude who turned into a wolf. Aka Rutger Hauer when he was young and handsome.

I think it's just coincidence xD I mean there's nothing about Hawke and Fenris that suggests they can't be together the way those two couldn't.

Sigh, I'll be honest with you guys. Sometimes I get tired of being the only supporter/lover of M!Hawke x Fenris. I get tired of hearing and seeing F!Hawke x Fenris being talked about and posted about over and over and over again. Is there nowhere online I can go to talk about the pairing I love? If you know of a place, let me know :) I know there is an fyeah M!Hawke x Fenris tumblr blog but tumblr is just about posting pics, no discussion.

Yeah I dunno. Sorry about that moto. I have absolutely no way to connect with or understand a homosexual relationship. I'm sure there are plenty of gamers out there who picked male hawke with fenris, though.

But I don't know about it being a total coincidence. I can see some nerdy developer who drew themes from the film, loosely. Especially with the name "Hawke", (Ladyhawke is spelled the same...) and even the way Fenris looks, he's dark and brooding like Nevarre. And Nevarre is represented with a wolf, as is Fenris. And in a way, Fenris and Hawke do have issues being together - he's one of the few companions who is extremely distant right up until the very end of the entire game. (I just bet there was some nerdy dev who was loosely drawing from that film.)

Since when are you the only M!Hawke x Fenris supporter? I am even writing about this pairing. Because of my fanfiction Hawke is most often male in my head. I think I recently saw someone else mentioning they had a M!Hawke with Fenris as well. And despite that you could still discuss it here, couldn't you? In my opinion the essence of the Fenris romance pretty much stays the same, no matter the gender you romance him with. There's pretty much no difference in dialogue either (except for the "Is it because I'm a man? DERP").

Anyway, I wouldn't know where else you can specifically discuss this pairing. Fanfiction.net? The kink meme? Deviant art? I have no idea. I can only say you are welcome to discuss it here, and that I'll participate (if I have something more or less usefull to say=]).

Yeaaaahhh wait a minute. No one is saying you can't talk about male Hawke in here, Moto. You are totally welcome to chat about it and - yes! - I've seen other users discuss Male hawke with Fenris in here.

In hindsight, I was making a comment about parallels between DA2 and a 1985 movie and it seemed like you weren't happy about that, switching gears then stating that people make too many references to female Hawke.

I say everyone is free to discuss what they wish, whether Hawke is male or female.

Yes @moto, others do exist.  I have mentioned more than once that I run with both m!Hawke and f!Hawke (and both varieties romance Fenris....only one of my m!Hawkes romanced Isabella).  I like both of them, and I find it very enjoyable roleplaying either with a romanced Fenris.  I think male and females can "fit" a romanced Fenris (obviouslyPosted Image). (ok, why did that sound dirty......hmmmmmPosted Image)

I don't know the movie, but it sounds like something I would like.  And this could very well be intended indeed. It sounds like a very strong coincidence otherwise.

I can assure you, you're not the only one to have considered this! *grabs LadyHawke from the shelf and looks at the cover, pondering watching it yet again* I didn't think twice about it when I first met him but when Fenris discusses his name later, I was reminded of the film as well. Possibly it was only as you say in the mind of a dev somewhere that neurons sparked and an idea was made but it is too much of a coincidence in my mind. Also Rutger's whiteblond hair matches Fenris' to a tee. On and I was just on IMDB and realised gorgeous Hauer is only 5 years younger than my dad, who is pretty old as dads go :-/

Motomotogirl, as to the M!Hawke+Fenris, I think you should just discuss it like those of us who like F!Hawke+Fenris as if there was no difference. For instance when MissRedZelda (I think it was MissRedZelda) put the question out there "What do you think happens to Hawke and Fenris after", just throw your two bits in. I mean, just because I play as FemHawke, doesn't mean I'm not interested in hearing and discussing how M!Hawke would fare with our precious Fenris :)
For me, there isn't really any difference, it's just Hawke and Fenris. The fanart we post is rather balanced, I think (who doesn't like a good Fenders? ^^) and I certainly don't think there will be any complaints about saucy M!Hawke+Fenris comments from this naughty crowd :)

Errrrrrrr Moto, the history of this thread has been Mhawke and Fenris. It is only recently there have been a larger (which is maybe 3) number of women saying they like FHawke and Fenris and most like both. Trust me on that.

Besides, I think people should talk about their Hawke how they see their Hawke. I like mine female. I gave up on trying not to be gender specific because it's silly and I can't be bothered to be that PC... no more like ambiguous. Why should it offend anyone to give Hawke a preferred sex? I only see Fenris with an FHawke. It's just preference. But either way, FHawke and MHawke have the same thing in common: they lurve their Fenbear. It doesn't matter what they have between their legs.

^ UNless your gonna pull a Poison on us then thats another can of worms....but yeah I played femhawke first before Male hawke...and sadly I liked femhawke more than Man hawke....mostly due to I kept picturing him as Bob Ross saying "Alright now IM gonna cast some fire to put some happy templars on fire. Yeah right there....then Im gonna put you asleep to the deep rumbles of my voice. Wake up gamer"

Don't ask it always happens. Plus I was holding out for Aveline, making him forever alone and couldn't risk using Fenris as a second medal. Mhawke is too nice to do that.

But Fhawke is how I role...mostly again due to imagining Fenris looking at her with sunglasses biting his lip thinking "DAT ASS, the real DA game."
Or rolling dep with Fenris Aveline and Varric playing Ante up by Busta rhymes on nightmare.

....ok now I wantmy ps3 fixed ; ; GOt this off the meggers.

I'm not trying to have a tiff with you Moto. Only Harle can handle me. But, I know I've probably already upset you. :( You can talk MHawke and Fenris all you want and I'll listen and love ya up like always. :) But I have to be able to talk about my Fhawke and Fenbear too. Fen is too squishy for just one man or woman.

Aww I thought I asked nicely enough lol You guys are very prickly.

I still think the LadyHawke connection is a coincidence, but you never know. And it is a good movie!! If you can get past how annoying Matthew Broderick is xD

Maybe I got tired of hearing about baby-birthing Hawke. It is all over this thread and then it is all over my personal life. Everyone is having babies. It's all over FB. My friends, my cousins, my in-laws (sister's brother-in-law); hell, I just remembered, my own brother is having a damn baby. The other day, my mother asked me (referring to a picture of a baby), Wouldn't you want one of these? I know she was teasing, but I am tired of that line of teasing. It isn't funny, and she never likes my answer. No, I do not want one of those, and it does not make me a freak because I don't.

Anyway, sorry for taking out my frustration on you guys. I feel safe here in the Fenris thread though ^^ All of this traditional crap being discussed, marriage, babies, name changes, etc. It just got to me.
