YEAH! Glad that was just the problem and you've now managed to open it.  Yes, you need to wait until they're in your party.  So, for example, at the beginning of the game, the only characters you can mess with are Hawke, Carver, and Bethany.  

You have Modio or Horizon or somethig to open the save?

And the little Dragon Age Hexum Fix program to rehash and resign after editing the save?

Yup, I actually have Hawke in the champion armour with a weird pike, stick thingy. Hmmm, the things I want to test! like since we know now how to change their armour or swap models I wonder if we can get the armours that the modders make. so that fun over coat that Fenris has? Or putting those different tattoos of our Hawkes. Too bad there is nothing like Me's Gibbed Editor for DA cause I would have loved to swap in head morphes.

FYI: this is a coat-jacket thing that I believe the "fun over coat" for Fenris is based off of: gen_im_npc_elf_arm_cht_appd  It's a complete outfit, so no gloves or boots needed.

And I usually put Athenril's armor on him; it looks great:

Have you run into this problem where you mod things with GFF editor, it works sort of, the weapon didn't carry the pike thingy was just the default weapon when your not using any weapon But the save isn't corrupted, then I wanted to reopen the save to fix said weapon problem and it says GFF doesn't support the .das file anymore. I find this a little strange.

On a Fenris related note I am super excited to get him in my party and play with his armour. sometimes I am really unfond of the ballet style feather outfit.

WTF? LOL  No, wonder what happened...

Always good to make multiple saves because you never know when something like this will happen.

Just a quick tut on weapon swapping in case ya need it (not saying you do, just in case): If Hawke is already a warrior and you just want to give him/her a different sword than the one s/he's wielding, then just replace the TEMPLATERESREF ID with the ID of the sword you want.

If Hawe is a mage, however, and you still want him/her to be able to access his/her spells, then make sure Hawke is equipped with a staff and then change the TEMPLATERESREF ID of that staff with that of a two-handed sword. Hawke will then swing his/her sword both in regular battle and when you activate a spell.

What you don't want to do is simply delete mage Hawke's staff and, say, paste Fenris' sword in his/her equipment items instead.  I don't think that will work.  Hawke may swing the sword, but I do not think you will have access to his/her spells anymore.  Same with any other class.

For example, I like to delete Fenris' sword and equip him with Isabela's (or Hawke's) two daggers instead so that he fights like a rogue.  But he can't access his talents anymore.  No biggie since I've modded him so that he's so super strong he doesn't need talents

For Hawke though the idea is to change the APPEARANCE of the weapon so that the animation is different when Hawke (or whomever) wields it, but the properties of the weapon are still such that it "acts" as a staff (meaning lets you do spells).

Now I dunno why your new sword only appears when Hawke unequips his/her weapon o.O

Are you replacing the TEMPLATERESREF ID under his/her equipment items?  Or you may just be pasting in a new weapon and not deleting the old one?  Maybe just tell me what you're doing and I can try to help??

Thanks guys. I really feel stupid that I don't have anybody to talk to in real life. The one person I could talk to just broke up with me during our vacation, exactly two months before we would have our fourth anniversary. Really didn't see it coming.
My first love, and I thought he would be the one, but I guess we are both too young after all.

There's nothing more debilitating than a broken heart, and having no one to talk to about it just makes it ten times worse. I hope you know that we're -always- here to listen, so don't worry about ruining the thread or anytthing silly like that; you just spill your guts and we will help however we can.

 Thanks a lot everybody. He wants to stay friends, but I don't know if I can handle it when he hooks up with somebody else. He broke up with me because he likes another girl and he needed time alone to think. That was such a blow that I eventually told him we would not get back together again, even if he would eventually comes to the conclusion he'd rather have me. If he has doubts like that it simply won't do. But it hurts, and I did not see it coming at all. And then we still had four days of our vacation left... 
Now I'm alone again.

On a Fen related note, due to some modding errors he is currently running about my game in his undies, very tempted to just keep him that way.

If he sounds like an ass I´m not explaining it right, because he honestly is not. He is a very sweet guy, and he was truly upset about it, unsure what to do. Of course the timing was miserable, but there was no right timing. Before the vacation is crap, during the vacation is crap, and after the vacation is no better either. He initially wanted to keep it to himself longer, but the burden got too heavy for him, and I can understand that. We've both cried a lot during the remaining days.

Hon you're absolutely right to make a clean break. There is literally nothing more heartbreaking than staying friends with someone and having to watch them with someone else - I've been there. You think you're going to be totally alright about it....but never are. Even if you're with someone else too. Particularly given the reason he's chosen to break up with you. I know you're saying he is a good guy (and I'm sure he is) but it also sounds like he's trying to have his cake and eat it too. Put yourself first and start with a clean slate. xxx

I really have to do another run as a mage. The problem is that I love rivalmancing him as a mage so I never get to just say the 'friendship' things. I always end up choosing every bloody flirty option.
