That second image reminds me of a Hawke/Anders fanfic I've read recently where Hawke wants a baby, Anders doesn't and instead they get a baby dragon that Hawke goes all gooey eyed over.

Its certainly.....different.....from what I normally read.

Yes yes and yes!
Tevinter would be (or would have been*) amazing, seeing magisters dueling via blood magic in the streets, slave revolts, and - Qunari! Since they are still at war, I would love for the DA universe to explore this more!

agreed! It looked so... weird.. with my male mage being all buffed up like a warrior.  I put him in the robes of the pirate as soon as I could because the puffy sleeves are good camo for the ginormous arms.

I hope beyond hope they bring back race choice in DA3. I'd play an elf or dwarf over a human any day, I'm a human already. heh It would be fabulous to play as a kossith, could give an interesting view/role play experience.
Shameless self promo cause this world needs more female kossith! finished this piece yesterday:

Elven Hawk...Sounds logical at first but then.. Thought about it too yet there are a couple of things (from the game and short stories) that shows Fenris is very unlikely can be interested in elf. He despises those "free elves" he found outside Tevinter. Plus, he grew up among human mages. Looks like human mage is a very logical romancable choice: all his life he saw those gorgeous powerful women (sorry, cannot see him gay) who only laughed at him. In Fade he did wanted to meet those mages from his past as equal. So, meeting one mage (gorgeous and powerful   ) who wants him and does treat like an equal has to be a dream comes true.

But you know - "opinions are like testicles...".  So are hadcanons.

Since the story follows Xmen main plot all we can hope for is The Last Stand. Sad but promices some interesting moments.

This is an interesting perspective on Fenris. Same here, I can't see Fenris as a homosexual. Strangley, I have always seen Anders lean more towards that sexual preference than Fenris. But, each to their own.

So, meeting one mage (gorgeous and powerful  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie] ) who wants him and does treat like an equal has to be a dream comes true.

Perhaps... but familiarity breeds contempt, as they say. On the one hand, I can see the potential scenario where Fenris may be out of his comfort zone with another elf. Perhaps, he would understand a human mage more because that is all he has ever known. But... Fenris and a mage? That has the potential for an extremely dysfunctional relationship. It is easy to fall back into a pattern of abuse without realizing it. Maybe, even push against the relationship and end up resenting it.

On the other hand, Fenris has been subjected to an awful existence because of mages. He seems to walk around automatically hating every mage he meets, or at least being very suspicious of them without proof that the mage is corrupt. Hadrianna, who was a female  mage was hated by him. Sometimes, I get the feeling he hated Hadrianna more than Danarius. So, I'm not so sure about a female mage being his ideal woman, though I'd happily explore the idea and try to deduce what that would mean to Fenris.

I do think Fenris is out of touch with his Elven roots. That's not something that can be helped, but perhaps in time, and with the right Elven woman he could find that identity and grow beyond slave and swordsman. Of course, without being given the opportunity to explore Fenris and an Elven woman together, we will never know, unless we write that scenario ourselves.

The way I remember it being phrased by Mark Darrah was somewhere French for DA3 :/ But, maybe we will get to visit other places too. You know never know.

Renny Ren Ren. Nice to see you here. You know, I will never be able to read my Fenris smut again and imagine him getting jiggy with Hawke without seeing that face. You have ruined my sexual fantasies! Danarius in a dress??? It's so wrong. LOL! MHawke looks like he trying to give a cat a bath. ;)

It was more like "desired woman" then "ideal". In particular with Hadriana monolog he mentioned "she ridiculed me" (btw, "haunted my sleep" sounds very intriguing in this perspective). Thous women did not see him as a real man, yet he was one with all desires and wishes a man can have.

Btw, interesting thing: you can have full romance with Fenris and rival-mance with Sebastian. Have to be a bug but a fitting one. Like even for a  Starkheaven noble romance with an elf is nothing, just a little fun any woman can have. It's just an elf, nothing to talk about.

Quick question,

I'm going to attempt to romance Fenris (8th time lucky?) Does anyone know if he still shags Isabela after freaking out and dumping you, even if you don't flirt with anyone else and wait patiently for him to come back to Hawke? Because I looked it up on google and some people say he doesn't "cheat" and others say that he does lol.

3 Fenris runs - never happened. But you can simply avoid putting them together in one party until act 3 :)

If I was to put them in a party together throughout and romance Fenris then he'll shag her? Does he do that before or after Hawke sleeps with him?

I meant - if you want to be 100% sure nothing ever happens. I mixed them up many times (after romance was started) and never get that. Looks to me like once you flirted with Fenris he is locked out from that conversation.

Here it states: (If neither is in a romance with Hawke)

Awww I can totally see Fen as homosexual, no matter the gender you are he tends to get a bit flirty and smoulder-y. Fen is definitly in my opinion not interested in limiting who he can have. Plus Gaider said he wrote Fenris with a male rivalmance in mind. So I dunno. Tbh, I have never seen any of the characters as either straight or Gay, I see them all as Hawkesexual. :P

Hawkesexual they are - no doubts :)

As for what Gaider said I would not worry too much. Saw it not a single time: an author creates some character out of pure vision, inspiration. Then get questions about him/her and decides to "add some details", normally only to shock the public and attract more interest to the creation (book, game, movie). Usually that addition has nothing to do with either character original background or the whole story, but reflecting just a momentum in author's life.

Ahh okay. It would make sense, didn't Bodahn say that he and Sandal were off to Orlais? It wouldn't be Dragon Age without Sandal.

I do remember in a panel a while back they showed the map and it was huge, so hopefully that means we'll get to travel to multiple places. I'd also like to re-visit Ferelden and see how it's holding up.

let me see if I can find it, brb

Maybe it'll take place all over Thedas . . .? Nah, unlikely.

So, I replayed DA2 the other day, and my favourite scene in the game is still the one where Keeper Malethari enters the Alienage and the instrumental version of "Rogue Heart" plays. Every time I play it, that scene still conveys so much even though there's no dialogue. She's just so . . . respected.

You know, if they ever make DA live action, the only actress I can see pulling her off is Cate Blanchett. I've always got really strong Galadriel vibes off her. Seriously, the only things missing are the long flowing hair and robes. I never did understand why Malethari was wearing the Tevintar mage robes.

Interestingly I have apparantly always skipped over that scene because I only watched it for the first time on my last playthrough. I had previously been under the impression that the City Elves weren't really concerned about the Dalish and didn't think of them much. Obviously I was wrong. I actually should go and do some reading on the elves... ;)

Crap, only just realised now I spelt her name wrong. It's "Marethari"! D'oh.

Anyway, yes. In that scene, all the City Elves bow to her as she enters the Alienage. Possibly one of the best scenes in the game. I wonder what Fenris would have been thinking during it.

It's just preference. I stated mine and the usual thing gets thrown back in my face. I don't begrudge people who see him as homosexual, bisexual or anything else.

Plus Gaider said he wrote Fenris with a male rivalmance in mind.

I hope Harle isn't around.

In my personal opinion, Gaider should never have said that. . I know many bi people and het people that were upset by the comment, including me, because now when I say I prefer a het relationship with Fenris that is usually what gets thrown back at me, therefore, is DA2 an rpg where people at least have the freedom to romance who they want or is it an interactive storybook? I also believe this is one of the comments that sparked raging 'companions should not be bisexual wars.'

It also goes back on what we are presented with in the game. The topic of sexual preference for LI's is a topic often seen on the forums that has people throwing raging fits. I always say Hawkesexual too, but there are some who are adamant that the LI's must have a stringent sexual preference because it makes it more realistic. (Because we are all confronted with fire breathing dragons on a daily basis. Someone call animal control!) Pants I say! The game is the type of game where people should not be limited by race, sexual orientation or gender. You start picking and choosing or telling people this is what I had in mind as the writer then you make it exclusive.

For instance, I say: The characters really are Hawkesexual, which I have done on many a thread about sexual orientation. What is said to me more times than I care to count: ... actually Gaider said he wrote Fenris with a male rivalmance in mind. So, are the characters still Hawkesexual? Damage is done.

edit to add - I figure Gaider must have some idea in his head, his 'canon' for the character. It doesn't bother me if Fenris was written with M!Hawke in mind, my canon is still the femHawke rivalmance.. then again, I haven't tried romancing him with a male yet.

aldien wrote...

the panel is specifically about their plans for DA3, they also discuss ideas for companion customization, how they want to stick with the iconic looks but offer further ways to customize, etc. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for DA3 to explore a lot more of the world. (had my dreams dashed by them before... haha)

Er ... I don't think this was meant to imply that he went to bed having dirty thoughts about her.  But that her psychological torture continued even as he slept.

Ok, it's official - my wording sucks. I'll try one more time though. And will state again - it's just a possibility, logical to me but probably inappropriate for others. And opinion, nothing else.

He _could_ have any dreams about her (sort of angry vengeance sex) but it's not the point, THAT was more like a joke. The point is - Fenris constantly saw around beautiful fem mages who would spit on him if ever notes his existence. Yet, they were the only noticeable women in his life. It's like when he heard word "woman" he pictured a fem mage. Nothing healthy in that behavior but it is possible and does not look strange to me (talk to any psychologist). Hence, romance with mage-Hawk looks very natural to me.
