I tried to quote your post Fleshdress but when I did that I realized it was going to get confusing fast.

This is extremely rare but because I don't think this is an opinion I am gonna come right out and say it. You're wrong.

It is an opinion. My opinion based on how the game works and you can call it wrong all you want but it doesn't prove a point.

People on this forum are colored by what others say. If you take the game as it is, without being privy to the forum's dogma or to a word David Gaider or anyone else has spoken about it, there is a common conclusion drawn. It's not born out of prejudice or sexual preference.  A female Hawke play through and Fenris comes across as his preferred choice to be with a woman regardless of what was intended. Not bisexual. It makes many people angry because on the surface it doesn't seem balanced. Many people also consider his relationship with Isabela odd.

It would have been better, in my opinion, if I must come out and say it and go against my own preference of not proving a point through sexual orientation and pairings, if Fenris had hooked up with Sebastian. You ask anyone who has been on this thread awhile and they will tell you that is the first time I have spoken of my preferred male partner where it concerns Fenris. I don't feel the need to go around saying it to show that I'm not homophobic and that I must conform to everyone else. But yes, I do enjoy that coupling. Shocker I know.

I know the characters are supposed to be bisexual. I learned that through the forum not the game. Hence, why I mentioned the game not the forum as to why I see him het in the female Hawke playthrough.

Leave Harle out of this. Harle's not part of this discussion... yet. That was on another thread and nothing to do with this subject.

In a real life situation if you met a handsome man and start seeing him, then you find out he used to have a boyfriend, or that although he only been with females he wouldn't mind sleeping with a male you can't just pretend he is straight cause he is with a female right now. Thats not who he is and is also where the slight incline towards homophobia begins. He is Bisexual, no matter who he hooks up with during the course of the game because even if he can't remember or even if it hasn't happened yet he has the potential to canonically hook up with a male. If you can't handle thinking in a playthrough "Man, Fenris would equeally be attracted to my Hawke if I gave her outdoor plumbing", then it's probably, I reiterate probably because the thought of him being capable of being sexually intimate with a male is a "turn off" for you. Hence people getting upset and implying homophobia.

]"Man, Fenris would equeally be attracted to my Hawke if I gave her outdoor plumbing",

And why might must I think that in order to not be homophobic? I don't expect anyone else to think that when they play the game. Why must I? Why can't I see Fenris as heterosexual? Because someone told me I can't? It's a bleeding game! Fantasy/roleplaying game and if I want to come on here and discuss it the way I see it then why should I not be allowed to do so?

No one has implied I am homophobic until now. You don't know a damn thing about me or my sexual preference or what I think in my head, so I suggest you do not try and figure it out. Perhaps, I play devil's advocate or perhaps I look at the game mechanics and how it is set up as opposed to being told what I should think by the forum or hinted at having homophobia by you. If you play this game out of the box and never as a male Hawke that is how it comes across. You would never know Fenris is bisexual unless told he was supposed to be. What it seems to me is that you cannot respect how I see it. So you go off and start hinting that I am homophobic. That's just a cheap shot. Why don't you ask me instead of assuming? Because I will tell you straight out what I think.

First off moto no where do I even write, hint or say I have "issues" with a male hawke romacing "my" fenris.
If anything I wanted to point out my take on how sadly a majority of women I meet who aren't into man/man are mostly there for the idealized appeal of hot men butt sex. Rarely do I find stories, even the ones geared more toward gay men and drawn by them, show men who are normal in appearence.

Its just like seeing a sexualized female in video games, just because it appeals to the sex sell tatic, doesnt mean it will appeal to me or gain any respect for that character. (granted until this is proven wise with personality and backgroundstory)

Also me using the term homosexual isnt really considered a slur unless I am using it out of context or in a subject where I am literally belittling someone. Just like if you use the term nergo when you could of just left it as "a slur." When I get slapped by one of my friends for calling them homosexual or ****** instead of lesbain or gay, then I'll decide not to say it out of curtesy for them. End of subject.

Sweetie, I was quoting you just because you brought up yaoi, and since I know quite a bit about the genre, I referenced your post so that I could explain it a bit better to the whole thread.  Don't worry, I wasn't singling you or anyone else out.

Your sentence about women who aren't into m/m but like "hot men butt sex" is confusing, so I don't know how to respond?

About BL stories that portray men who are normal in appearance ... I don't know what to say except that I'm sorry you aren't as famliar with the genre as you could be.  There are many, many female mangaka who portray very realistic looking and acting men and gay relationships.  For a mangka who draws more masculine-looking characters, check out Naono Bohra.  If you really like masculine, muscley guys (including lots of facial hair!) then do check out some of the gay comics.

Oh, I can even recommend some fantastic gay comics drawn by American artists: "TJ and Amal" and "Artifice."  DO CHECK THEM OUT, EVERYONE!!!!  "Artifice" is written by a man if that helps.

I'm not telling anyone not to use outdated terms, merely informing you guys that they are outdated.

Wait... Fleshdress if you were on the bisexual companion thread today... didn't you notice that I put up a post that I would prefer the characters to remain bisexual for the next game? That's what I was arguing about with Harle, though *remembers fondly* Harle and I did once argue about this and it was on the same scale of magnitude. I miss you Harle :(

August is officially a bad month for this thread.

@moto: In all honesty I do not know how to reply to this without turning it into a holier than thou reply that will turn into an ongoing flamewar. I have spent a good 40 minutes thinking of a proper reply to this, yet all I could come up with is heated arguments that relay on my emotion filled with anger and passive agressive jabs.

If anything it is not worth what I say to bring the forum down all because I inadvertently gave my 2 cents on a subject without looking back or editing it properly.
I need to take an example of what my mother always told me "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. But if you do have something to say, think carefully on how others will take it,"

I write this, not to be apologetic, or secretly brown nosing, but to let others know I need to think carefully without coming off as a troll, even if I disagree with certain subjects.

I know I said I would take time to think clearly on my responses, but that really is some passive agressive tactics.

A knack for what?  The thread's always fun :P Except a few times people were pretty mean to me, but I just walked away for a few days.  I don't take mean responses personally anymore.  I'm always polite and friendly, so I can't really hold myself responsible for other peeps' reactions.  Life is too short!

I know your loving this. *rolls eyes again"

so I can't really hold myself responsible for other peeps' reactions.

Out of curiosity and I'm being serious. Is that like saying you don't care if you upset people? You don't try to understand where they are coming from?

 I'm always polite and friendly,

I can't tell wether you are being a troll or if you are that good at the denial. But if you truely indeed don't respond to "mean responses" then rightfully you should of ignored my earlier posts. Thats just being really selective.

Tsk, this went downhill real fast boils and ghouls. It's obvious that even when we agree we'll disagree about agreeing.Posted Image I did not set out with the intention of offending you Aldien, but I did and I apologise. You'll have to forgive me I am used to debating with people like Heindrech(sp?) and Arquen back in the day and no one was easily offended and everyone had very passionate arguments.Posted Image (and my main role was just to agree with one or both cause they would get really intellectual about it!)

We shall have to agree to disagree, I agree with neither you nor, moto, I believe changing someones sexuality to suit your preference is an insult to the character, the writer, and other players. You (This is a general opisition you, not anyone specifically) think because it's an RPG only the players playthrough and headcanon count unless obviously stated in the game by the character what their sexuality is. (At least that what I am gathering.Posted Image The posts are a bit confusing to me.)

I haven't really read through the responses cause they're pretty confusing by now and things are being taken in ways they were unintended to be taken in so I'll drop in in favor of some more hilarious topic. Like why does Fenris bunny-hop-run? What is peoples opinion on what happened after the fall of KIrkwall and... a threadwide favorite I think we need another round of guessing as to what Fenris wears under those leggings. Personally I am always been of the commando persuasion, but for hilarious brain image sake: Lime green tighty whiteys with frogs all over them. maybe they'll bring out the green in his eyes. To be honest your post is confusing too. So... You think the writers do have rights to lock characters sexuality as well as their appearence?

Actually, last two pages are all confusing. What did we discuss here in relations to Fenris?

LOL You are passive aggresively arguing, but okay, I get what you are saying. Ah well at least Fenris has some very passionate fans.

Hinting that I am homophobic tends to offend me. Can't imagine why.,

Yes, Arquen the one who insulted a non English speaking person. That was not so passionate or impressive. I was around back then too. Perhaps not as far back as you go, because I seem to recall seeing you on page 3, but I was around and debated myself. I miss those days, but they aren't coming back unfortunately because viewpoints are very one sided on this thread.

Don't play the game for anyone else other than me. The writers get paid to write. I buy it and want to play it how I see fit. If I can't romance a woman and a man of my choice, I'm not interested.

Gaider said he imagined Fenris going commando. But he also said if you need to imagine clothing it would be a slip like garment for a woman and small pants for a man. I do read the man's comments adn they do add to the gameplay, but I don't know him so it is hard to worry about whether I insult him if I want to play the game differently than he intended.

So... you ready for Orlais?

I really wanted Tevinter! It would have been great to live a day in the nonexistent shoes of an elf, experience slavery firsthand and then want to f'ck the magisters up. Or be n ex-slave with flashbacks, who gathers companions to help start a revolt and lead it. Fenris's help would be welcomed ;) It would have made the player angry, I think  and urged them to want to change the situation.

We've only seen the mages suffering. What we haven't seen is the suffering of slaves at the hand of mages. Like you said in a previous post, April, it would be fascinating to see mage's fighting in the streets of Tevinter. I love the gruesome stuff. Why do I get the feeling Orlais is going to be fluffy?

Hey you know what would be a good area to visit and have a decent excuse to have a Fenris Cameo...FRIGGIN SEHERON! Think of it, the mage templar comflict is over, meaning Tevinter is making a mad pull agaisnt the Qunari.
The fog warriors are in dire need of help and who pops up as a form of remdeption for being non romacned or holing up with their li...Fenris. Looking man-tastic as a silver fox.(hot older man)
Possibly glistning from the humidty....wering a loin cloth when you take off the armor....oh god I need to practice.

Can never have enough excuses to draw elves in romance era piece "tribal" gear along with Kossith. Dressed like Maori me-ow.
Aldy please me stop thinking of hula skirt dancing fenris.

From what we see in the book Asunder Orlais is gonna be smack dab in the middle of a civil war with the mages and circles all rebelling AND being invaded by Fereldan. I really don't know any writer good enough to stick fluffy into that.Posted Image

I have no idea, but it is stcking pretty close to canon in most areas so I don't see why they won't use it as a gap filler.
