This is extremely rare but because I don't think this is an opinion I am gonna come right out and say it. You're wrong.
It is an opinion. My opinion based on how the game works and you can call it wrong all you want but it doesn't prove a point.
People on this forum are colored by what others say. If you take the game as it is, without being privy to the forum's dogma or to a word David Gaider or anyone else has spoken about it, there is a common conclusion drawn. It's not born out of prejudice or sexual preference. A female Hawke play through and Fenris comes across as his preferred choice to be with a woman regardless of what was intended. Not bisexual. It makes many people angry because on the surface it doesn't seem balanced. Many people also consider his relationship with Isabela odd.
It would have been better, in my opinion, if I must come out and say it and go against my own preference of not proving a point through sexual orientation and pairings, if Fenris had hooked up with Sebastian. You ask anyone who has been on this thread awhile and they will tell you that is the first time I have spoken of my preferred male partner where it concerns Fenris. I don't feel the need to go around saying it to show that I'm not homophobic and that I must conform to everyone else. But yes, I do enjoy that coupling. Shocker I know.
I know the characters are supposed to be bisexual. I learned that through the forum not the game. Hence, why I mentioned the game not the forum as to why I see him het in the female Hawke playthrough.
Leave Harle out of this. Harle's not part of this discussion... yet. That was on another thread and nothing to do with this subject.
In a real life situation if you met a handsome man and start seeing him, then you find out he used to have a boyfriend, or that although he only been with females he wouldn't mind sleeping with a male you can't just pretend he is straight cause he is with a female right now. Thats not who he is and is also where the slight incline towards homophobia begins. He is Bisexual, no matter who he hooks up with during the course of the game because even if he can't remember or even if it hasn't happened yet he has the potential to canonically hook up with a male. If you can't handle thinking in a playthrough "Man, Fenris would equeally be attracted to my Hawke if I gave her outdoor plumbing", then it's probably, I reiterate probably because the thought of him being capable of being sexually intimate with a male is a "turn off" for you. Hence people getting upset and implying homophobia.
]"Man, Fenris would equeally be attracted to my Hawke if I gave her outdoor plumbing",
And why might must I think that in order to not be homophobic? I don't expect anyone else to think that when they play the game. Why must I? Why can't I see Fenris as heterosexual? Because someone told me I can't? It's a bleeding game! Fantasy/roleplaying game and if I want to come on here and discuss it the way I see it then why should I not be allowed to do so?
No one has implied I am homophobic until now. You don't know a damn thing about me or my sexual preference or what I think in my head, so I suggest you do not try and figure it out. Perhaps, I play devil's advocate or perhaps I look at the game mechanics and how it is set up as opposed to being told what I should think by the forum or hinted at having homophobia by you. If you play this game out of the box and never as a male Hawke that is how it comes across. You would never know Fenris is bisexual unless told he was supposed to be. What it seems to me is that you cannot respect how I see it. So you go off and start hinting that I am homophobic. That's just a cheap shot. Why don't you ask me instead of assuming? Because I will tell you straight out what I think.
