Thats the thing, it isnt an alternate universe when certain info from the books creep into the game, unless you had prior knowledge to read it and just meta game it. It still reeks of "I want to write novels" vibe.

Also, yes I DID whine finding out Fenris was originally sppoe to be a homosexual LI, but not for those reasons. My reasoning was it could of gtten me to play more as a male character exploring a non idealized version of man on man. Or I could of found out in the game and harbor this friendly mama-bear persona to make sure he's alright, that either irritates him or is greatly appreciated.

In all honesty, it still would of made me love the character despite the fact I couldn't romance him...which brings up another subject of Asexual Hawke for the win!

Well yes and no on the changing him to bi. I mean yes it did come across as "FIne everyone is bi! We cant make people happy, **** whoever!" Quoting that from my favoite podcast, but yeah it did leave a little sour taste in my mouth due to it, so Im just out in the meh crowd silently wavng my hetereo flag.

Not so much in your face about the subject but its just how I feel personally, but even I had conflicts on the issue with friends over the game with LI.

Technically it's already not my birthday anymore here, 'cause it's 13 minutes past midnight, hehe. Again, sorry for the unFenrisrelated question but I have a Tumblr account but want to start another one for fanfic entries. I know you can create a 'secondary' type account but wondered if this was in any way connected to my original account? Quite a few of my RL friends know of my loopyllama Tumblr (which is fine) but I wouldn't really want them reading what I write. So if I create a new blog they won't automatically see that will they?

Also because you've all been so helpful, here's my favourite thing EVER that I found on Tumblr. Its originally from shaleenn1 on DA though.

I've been trying to get consistant with how I draw Fenris, I really want to make a Hawke/Fenris comic but don't have enough faith in my abilities to do it justice.. yet! practice makes for ... well, not perfect, but better! Eventually I'll just sit down and give it a go. It will be called "Missing Moments" and focus is on scenes that were skipped/implied through and after DA2. Current project besides the never-ending ME3 meme is the Leto/Varania pic which I hope to have completed by mid-next month.

It's really really well done. I did something stupid though. My last character I wanted to see what a hardened Alistair was like so I found this macro that does it anywhere you want in the game. Maker! The man is a monster if you harden him! He's horrible. It sounded like the VA was forcing it as well. Talk about going from one extreme to another. And it's kind of silly that his whole personality changes because of one chat about his sister. But hey, I'd be his mistress too if that was my only option. I have no shame. OKay I shushies now.

You know, Ghost, if BW does make characters that have specific sexual preferences, people will just mod it if they want the character for their m or f protaganist. So... honestly I don't see why it matters if they are bi. You're just going to save some poor soul the effort of making the mod that is then going to get downloaded a billion times. You can't please everyone and rarely anyone. I know, because I'm always displeased

I have to admit I've never noticed that much of a difference with a hardened Alistair, but perhaps that is because I usually do it more at the end of the game. Well, not end, but at least halfway.

I started to romance Zev but he pretty much wanted in my elf's pants straight away. Is that normal? I prefer the slow build up like Fenris. Fenris makes you work for it. That's how you know he is good in bed.

Towards the end it gets awful. I think the first line that shocked me was right before Landsmeet. I engaged him in most of the dialogue by loading and reloading. He's just such an ass and then after he becomes king it just gets worse. I'll stick with fluffy Alistair instead of angry I am the king of the world Alistair and will only keep you because it suits me. Oh! And if you leave him at the gates and he realizes you are going to go sacrifice yourself, he doesn't really sound like he cares that much. I'll make sure they remember you, I believe is what he said. Well I guess it's just me, but hardened Alistair comes off like he used the warden for sex and to get what he wanted.

I haven't played through all the endings yet but I assume hardened Alistair will still sacrifice himself. To be honest, I'm tempted to slay the monster I created

Wait, did you harden him with your mage or your city elf? I'm a little confused. ^^;

I agree though, I hate Hardened Alistair. He comes across as so mean, cynical, and bitter. It seems that very word out of his mouth is some unnecessarily snide comment from situations that don't even warrent that level of hostility. I kept him a sweetheart in my city elf playthrough because I honestly loved him the way he was, but I hardened him in my mage elf playthrough (romanced Zevran at the time) just to see what it's like. Needless to say, I'm not doing it again. >>;

I finished off my pt with my elf mage and used that character experiement with. So I used the macro to harden Alistair right before Landsmeet. I know in the game this naturally occurs during his sister's quest, but this macro let's you pick any saved game and harden him. Anyway, I went through the options before Landsmeet and then during and a bit after. I was curious. It was so awful to see him go from the sweet, happy go lucky man to whatever that thing was that looked like Alistair. I'd accuse it of being an abomination. Fenris help! It's an abomination! Kill it! Kill it now!

Ridiculously so. It's like this man has some serious anger issues, but unlike Fenris I got the underlying feeling that Alistair, this unnatural version of him could get violent with my warden as opposed to throwing wine bottles. I think I drew that conclusion when he said: I can do whatever I want. No... sorry that crosses a line.

I love humble and sweet. Fenris and Alistair are both if you don't turn them into abominations.
