Also, I was looking over your mod suggestions (btw, they were great!), and I thought I would bug you about the RuleFix mod for DAO. I have looked at it before, but I'm not sure it really would matter much to me...I don't play on a high level of difficulty in DAO. Not that I play on real difficult settings for most games. (only a few hack n' slash games with NG+...heh!). So the question is, does that mod really benefit someone like me? Is there at least a couple of the fixes that would of interest for someone who doesn't have much trouble with the combat because she plays on such easy settings? Just curious....thanks for your thoughts.

Cold, the fixpack does have one great feature even for those that don't care much about all the finer nuances of gameplay and that is AUTO LOOT! Not having to manually bring up the inventory UI each time I want to loot some corpses greatly increased my enjoyment of long dungeons.

Then I shall boot up that playthrough as soon as I get home today! Yay, I kinda missed Kas and his quircks and speech patterns and Fenris fixation.

Ahhh...Auto Loot! That is a good one. I think there is a mod just for Auto Loot. I'm going to look into that....if it looks good, I'll let you all know. Thanks for the info and really looking forward to Kas + Fenris.

I happened to agree with him. There is a first time for everything... 

You know to be fair when Gaider is making random comments on Twitter what he writes is funny for the most part. But when he is on BSN, I swear he turns into a grump monster.  The devs sound better on Twitter at least more relxed I should say. I tend to avoid the rants and read the informative stuff on BSN, although! occasionally some of the arguments between the devs and members do make me chuckle. Some people I swear wind them up on purpose. I also don't understand why people keep asking them the same things again and again. They've answered the majority of the questions I have seen posted. At least, I haven't really read anything new compared to what they said a while back so we get to go in circles. I think people are too lazy to go look it up. Maybe I've just been around here too long.

*Sigh* I miss actually contributing to this thread.....other than that Aldy since I can't contact ya, Im debating on doing a tumblr to push myself into practicing more and...well I might as well say Im abit conflicted on the devs forum.

Granted some part of me is happy they are looking out for mistakes to fix from th previous game and willing to try something new without catering to the loudest, pessimistic "Listen to me" fans.

However, what with the president of EA saying how he will no longer sign off on a game unless it has multiplayer.....has me worried like a sinner in church for Bioware's franchise in RPGs.
Not including the MMORPG's (Really trying to keep that dead to me ever since I learned FFXI is making a 5th expansion with new jobs and continent to explore......must. resist. Online. payments. used. to. go..to. the gym!)

Ooh, lordy, apparently today wasn’t meant to gaming day, since it's actually massive headache day. Blaugh.

Coldy, ooh, you better not regret saying that XDD I was planning on giving just the essential facts on Kas if the scene demanded it, but now you'll get the full bio. But I still feel kinda selfish to be hogging so much thread space with my Hawke, so after the initial introduction, if there is a lot of info I'll be dumping, I'll make sure to post extra screenshots of Fenrisy goodness.
And man, those Hawkes are fiiine. That's one lucky angsty elf there.
I'm afraid Kas won't exactly rock anyone’s world, since I suck at CC. Hard. It takes me, I'm not making this up, days to make a character that doesn't look like the victim of a botched plastic surgery. It's a lot easier with DA2, than DAO (there I had to download a bazzilion mods to help me), but don't expect anything awfully original from my guy in terms of facetime. But he has a sparkling personality!
And while I'm on the topic... Zander? Ha, one of the first working names for Kas for Ksander XDD I set a challenge for myself to give all Hawkes a name that started with "K" and I wanted his name to be strong, to the point and with an "r" in there. But then I was reading something about Thessaloniki for a story and the king who founded it was named Cassander, so my reaction can be summed up with "Hey, I can just bastardize it by replacing the "C" with a "K"! Brilliant!". So yes, Kas is actually named Kassander. It's still better than my DAO characters, where the challenge was names that started with an "Ae". I don't know why I do that.

Aldien, ah, the dev forums. A mine of interesting information, but I just don't have it in me sometimes to wade through some of the negativity there, especially after spending so much time on the ME3 boards. I'm too much of a rainbows and puppies kind of person to read the hundred and one ways in which people are displeased with a game. There are good points, but I'm just tired now. It's like the endless "all bi LIs" threads. Imma just gettin' too old fo' dis ****.

Well, yeah, it's more of a "look up" than eye-roll, but it loses pizzazz if you call it that. Regardless, I really like that expression with those words.

Why is it that Fenris porn is restricted to when people are uncomfortable!? It should just... be!

And no EA rants, please. While they deserve every rant they get, there should a bastion of purity and broody elf porn somewhere on the webs. I would like it to be this place~

Oh no worries. I'm not going to complain about EA. I wouldn't give them the pleasure of my displeasure. It's been a looooong week.  How can you stand to look at the computer at all with a headache? o_O

So... do you write a bio for all of your Hawkes? I'm just curious because my Hawkes always end up being the same type of character. I was wondering if you find the bio to help keep them in character.

I don't know.... I find it easier to make a unique looking warden than a unique looking Hawke. Then again, like you say a million mods required to do it.


Usually I avoid the other threads like the plague. They tend to be.... unfriendly. But I noticed the devs commenting on several threads for the first time in months. I'm not sure why since nothing new was said. *shrugs* It's really not that interesting, not as interesting as Fenris's biceps. Speaking of puppies and butterflies, i have just the comic for you! I'll go post it later.

Honestly, I really think it was meant as an eyeroll. I just like to pick on Ren.

Thanks for the kind words on Zander and Castor. Castor is becoming a true favorite of mine, and he works really well with Fenris....the dialogue choices I have been making have really flowed well this time. Go figure.

Were we separated at birth or something?? I do the same thing; the whole "letter/naming thing". For me it was the letter Z. I had a Zyla, Zane, Zander, Zed, Zillara, Zoe and even though he doesn't start with the letter Z, Ezriel was sort of included in that (gots a Z in it! heh.) Eventually I started using short names - Chase, Evan, Mace, Jax, Tyrel......Now I am trying to just find names that fit the background story/personality of the individual Hawke. I guess....*grin/wink*

Very interesting about how Kas got his name. (Funny little coincidence that you chose it based on the beginnings of Thessaloniki. My husband was born in Thessaloniki. His grandmother still lives there.) It's a great name. Look forward to seeing him.

Making males in DA2 that are hunky or pretty, is much easier than in the DAO CC. I have seen some beautiful males in DAO, but most of them have come from the Toolset, or are heavily modded. I have made a few decent DAO men, but I never really care for the eyes. They often seem...."off" to me.

Aldien, well, it is gone now XDD I usually just go for a nap when the headache fairy visits and that clears it up. Plus, I get headaches pretty often, as does my entire family (blood pressure issues), so I if put all I'm doing on hold because of one, I'd rarely get things done.

Well, I don't actually write anything, but I put a lot of thought into developing Hawkes. It usually takes months and at least two "test" playthroughs for me to finalize a character. Each one has a different personality, goals, ideals, speech patterns, expressions and idiosyncrasies. I just get rally bored with a game if a character I play isn't well defined, but it does take time. I literally finalized writing two Hawkes today, and drafted them at the start of summer. Granted, I was writing other characters at the time, but still. While on the subject, with DA2 I'm trying out a dichotomy system, since I have four characters. Each pair belongs to a camp (idealists and realists) and the two characters in a pair are sort of mirrored. They share a core (drive, arrogance and emotionality in the case of Kas and his counterpart), but they are build as opposites from that - Kas internalizes his emotions, while Kromis is prone to outbursts, Maria is keenly aware of how the world works, but constantly questions her views, while Kain is sure of his cynical conclusions etc. It's fun and exercise at the same time!

Yeah, I think it's because it’s much harder (for me at lest) to make a halfway decent Warden, so I put a ridiculous amount of time and detail into crafting one, while Hawke can just be reasonably pleasing to the eye from the word go, and I'm too afraid to mess with it.

The only other thread I participate in is the Anders one. I'm also planning on popping into the Merrill thread when I start a playthrough where I romance her, since the people there seem nice. But all the others... Yeah, not for me.

Yeah, you all seem too nice to get uppity about a little derailment, but… I used to be a mod on a lot of forum RPGs, so I take offtopic discussion very seriously. Job hazard, I guess.

Ha, and I thought I was the only person willing to inflict such petty torture on myself! There’s a lesson here, you’re never alone in silliness XDD I try to do both at the same time – letter and fitting meaning. Takes longer, but you get to read about a lot of interesting things in the process.
Also, love the name Zoe. Don’t know why, just do. Sounds like a swell gal.

And about Thessaloniki again… I was actually going to set a story there instead of any other Greek city, because that’s where my family came to Russia from! Granted, generations upon generations ago, but still. We totally have to be kindred spirits. Too many coincidences! *X-files music*

Yeah, DAO is a real trial. All my males there are heavily modded, using custom CC made presets by other people and then given a make-over with even more mods. Otherwise they all just come out looking like toad-men.

What do you think happens to Hawke and Fenris after they defeat Meredith? What is your preferred happily ever after, or rather, how do you see them living out their lives? I always love reading responses to this question. It gets the imagination going.

Coldy, April, Ren, Ghost and anyone who cares to answer, what's your preferred Fenris/Hawke ending? I am sure you have answered this before, Ren, but people change their opinions and I'd like to know where you stand on this now. This is one of my favorite questions to ask and to read.

Well for me I want to be romantic and say they live in hiding with a certain Dalish Clan protecting them and have broody babies.

But the realist in me see's their relationship slowly deteriorate cause I want to plan out that Hawke(Derp mage) took a hit for fenris off Meredith's sword and is slowly dying from a corrosive lyrium poisoning.
While she's lucid she spends her time with Fenris making him happy emotionally, but when the pain kicks in she becomes super insane smart and finds a way to fix Fenris lyrium so it doesnt go crazy on him. During these times Fenris is distance from her, but loves the physical boom chicka wow wow.

So around the time Varric is being interrogated Hawke was kidnapped by a faction of Anders' followers, I let him live because I refused to make him a martyr, and they are using her insane moments to pop out spells to help their side.

Fenris is conflicted to save her, because in both her sane and insane moments she always was concerned for him and genuinely loved him....just in crazy mode it was "love slave" mode, sane mode I love you.
Plus she might be preggers and he's on the prowl to get her back and Anders still is obsessed with her, trying to use her as a vessel for justice to be reborn....basically something that make an awesome story filled with my take on laziness to write it.

@MR.flipflops dude I know how you feel on that CC....takes me a good hour or two to do a sketch of my hawke and pray i can make her close to that in the game....really hard to give her some African features that arent spanish moor.

I mean, it's really interesting and you're free to do whatever you please with you characters, but... Why?! ;__; That seems like a step to the side of realism and right into a pit of toxic orphan tears and used syringes from a nearby insane asylum.

To be more serious and respectful, that really does seem like a bit too much. To me, that is. I mean, struggle, tragedy, hardship and all that are great for a story and progressing characters, but all the insanity, and the pregnancy, and the crazy-kidnapper-spirit-ressurector Anders... Like I said, a bit too much. But that's just me and my tastes often differ from what is considered interesting when it comes to such things. I have little patience for such amounts of darkness, I prefer a more even relationship between story tones. But blah what does it matter, I wouldn't read something like that, but the opinion of one midgety gal is barely a blip on the radar. I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd enjoy it, if you ever do get up to writing the story. I hope I didn't cause offense by any of that, because I certainly didn't intend to. Let's move on to something more pleasant! *nervous laugh*

Oh, I tried doing a femHawke, but they all just came out looking like clones and boring ones at that. At the end I gave up and used the default one. I suck too much. And I can imagine how difficult it can be to make an African character in these games, I tried once. Came up with a badass looking chick, but something was just... off. I can't really describe it. We all share a common CC pain it seems.

And I can't really answer the question right now. I had a few drafts of possible outcomes, but all of them are really rough or are just one pivotal scene with no indication as to any specific future events. But Kas isn't one to sit on his bum and he'll definitely be doing something, but what... With that guy it can be anything from helping the mages to gathering enough funds and sailing off on an expedition into uncharted waters. Him planning such adventures with dead seriousness and meticulous detail is actually a bit of running gag of mine. Like Kas having a "future fund" which is just a hoard of money and the purpose for it is never certain, since he has many plans and the priorities for each change depend on the current world climate.
I’ll get back to you on that some other time. I spent a lot of energy writing a hypothetical outcome for Kromis and then I just focused on writing Kas. His future is next on the list. I’ll just read what other people here come up with, it’s and interesting question.
