I don't have a lot of time to offer up a decent post.... gah will my life ever calm down... anyway. I hate to sound like an ass but am I the only one who knew this was coming? Gaider said he didn't like how Fenris turned out, comparing Fenris to a Twilight character and then complaining about his look... well it never boded well. Plus,. many people really do not understand Fenris. I don't have anything against Cullen, but personally, he has the makings of another Alistair. Innocent, honor driven templar, but with anger issues.

Well I hope we keep Fenris alive in here. Actually, I come here more for the people now than the elf. Don't worry I'm not going soft, my heart is still frozen I just think it will be nice to continue discussions between us concerning DA3, Fenris and whatever comes up. I know I've been absent of late, but I hope the thread does not get abandoned

Anyway, I'm actually kinda surprised at all the vitriol going on. I mean, I did notice the "Fenris is a whining emo"
comments about, but I just attributed them to a hate group that every character has like "Anders is the worst human being to appear in a video game", "Zevran is an STD ridden ****", "Merrill is a dumb adult child" and "Morrigan is an irredeemable ****". I had no idea that with Fenris it's actually more of a population wide consensus. That's very sad. But, hey, at least it lessens the chances of him being ****ed up in the sequel! *fake smile straining even more*
Argh, why does the site censor my every swear word?! You'd almost think that cursing is inappropriate or something!

I love this thread too not just because we can talk about Fenris without being shouted at but also because my posts don't get ignored! So if this thread gets closed we'll have to open a new one!!

Never fear ladies and gents (if we have any gents currently *grin*). This thread isn't going anywhere. DA3 has a while before it's out. And don't forget; these are a few outspoken people. I have found that most people on these different forums, websites, like (adore, lust after, ect...) Fenris quite a bit. Hell, I think he may inspire more FanArt than just about any other DA character (or pretty damn close).

@MrFlipFlops- I get ignored in quite a few threads, so I don’t tend to post unless it’s to agree with someone else....I’m use to it, always seems to happen.

Eggs, I think it's not just these forums, but the internet in general. There are so many people here and so many opinions, that trying to communicate is like throwing coins into a bottomless well. Sometimes it'll bounce off something and someone will notice, but most of the time it'll just disappear into the void. Due to the sheer number people you sometimes have be twice the person you are to get noticed. But, that also depends on the public. We here notice everyone~!

I’ve just had a thought... do you think that Bioware would let all of us design a Male LI for DA3? I’m sure if we all put our heads together we could come up with something. I wouldn’t want to be paid for it nor claim any royalties either!

Eggs, oh I don't know XDD Just speaking for myself, if I were Bioware (yes, all of it, just go with me) I wouldn't let the fans do that. There are many great, creative and perceptive people here, but they are often drowned out by the whining, hateful, never satisfied, uncompromising dip****s as it is in any fandom, sadly. So, it would just be too much work to sift through the mountains of tripe and passive-aggressive prodding for the actual work from people who genuinely care.

@MrFlipFlops, what I meant was people who are pro fenris but forgot to put that! My idea sounded good at the time but you are right... maybe not the best idea to ask people.

Quick comment. I had a look at some of the *ahem* intelligent discussions occurring in the DA3 thread. Plus, I noticed someone who used to frequent this thread who used to proclaim their love for Fenris hating on him o_O Female dog suddenly comes to mind for some reason. Hmmmmm.... Yes we need another Mabari... Yes thats what I meant!

Cullen really is an Alistair clone in many ways. That's not a bad thing except that any attempt will pale in comparison to the original. I love Alistiar but I prefer something less... innocent. Many of the comments concerning Cullen are about his boyish nature in DAO so... *sighs* I predict copy cat character. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

What I don't get is why Fenris in particular is being singled out. He is very popular outside of this forum according to fanfiction, art, videos, pictures. I still have some fanfiction on the go myself and the readership has increased (no I'm not bragging just making a point) So.... I don't get it o_O I have noticed the bandwagon mentality occuring. On the plus side, Gaider rarely writes what everyone wants. So who knows what is in store. I just hope it isn't obvious.

I am probably being one of those whiny people. I have no problem with them coming up with whatever they wish, for LI's and companions. BW is very good at CREATING characters. But! I still take issue with how Thane and Jacob were treated in me3, and their character arcs were resolved (especially in the romance category). Now I realize that those are two ME characters, but it causes me pause. So the only thing I ask for is that all LI's are kept open enough to offer multiple paths or resolutions (DAO was good at that.....think Alistair.) No railroading of characters in to one single path. Hell, even Anders was technically given multiple paths through your choice (yes, he still blows up the chantry, but at least you can have him stay, tell him to leave, fight him, shank him....ya get the point).

Fenris didn't really have multiple paths (though if you didn't play your cards right, you could end up fighting him), but at least you have an open enough ending to imagine numerous paths. Forced angst, just feels like there is no real RP aspect. Here is hoping for options (besides you can always add the interesting twist options...again think of an in love Alistair, and the Warden trying to take the US).

Rumours are that you will be able to import game saves from DA2 so I’m wondering IF Cullen is in DA3 his personality / opinions changes depending on whether you sided with templars or mages? Odd question I know but it’s another random question of mine!

Mind you, if I’m honest I don’t think anyone will live up to Fenris for me

Yes, I think he would be more merciful in the long run towards mages if he sided with MageSupportingHawke; although I could see him going either way... seeing an entire town go to **** because of 'crazy blood mages' may bring him right back to his DA:O views that they all need to die regardless, can't take that chance. hmmm. (assuming he's in DA3... I really think he will be. as an LI or not? doesn't matter to me, either is fine)

I think Fenris was the perfect storm of writing, art, and voice. I guess all we can do is hope (and believe) the devs can replicate that awesomeness (and I do really believe they can).

FYI Speaking of The Voice, I've recently become addicted to some YT videos where this charming fella plays DA2 blind. His reaction to meeting Fenris was priceless: ".....Wow." And then, after a pause: "...If I were gay... *chuckle* but I'm not, so...." He ends up romancing Merrill, but still, I cracked up. It was so charming xD

I was being lackadaisical with my comments about Fenris.  But I was focusing primarily on the end of the game, and how the character arc and romance arc complete.  Fenris not being tied directly to the main storyline (just as some of the other characters), seems to limit how much involvement and resolution he has in his character arc. 

Yes, you can tell him you don't need his help (hell, you don't even have to pick him up as a companion), you can choose to romance him, you can dump him (or let his dumping "stick"...however you wish to view it), you can friend or rival him, sell back to Danarius, have a say in his sisters life/death.   That wasn't exactly my point to my post.  It was more regarding what I hope doesn't happen with the characters in DA3.  Especially ones that can be romanced.  My thoughts, my opinions, my wishes and nothing more.

LOL, it's probably one of the risks of visiting this thread. Ending up with a Fenris avatar.


People hate Fenris? *sigh* I think it's mostly because Fenris is anti-mage, and most people tend to side with the mages. Then they decide Fenris just hates them all and is stupid and unreasonable and emo.... But he does seem to have a fandom as well. Plenty of art has been made of him, and there are a lot of fictions with Fenris. I think Anders is a bit more popular though (can't imagine why<_<). 

Ehm... so, what else? Ah, yes. A pure aggressive Hawke tends to be nasty to others, including Fenris. But it's not the only way to rival Fenris, as coldy already said. It is a bit more difficult and may require some peeking at the wiki, but you can reach 100% rivalry while being diplo/sarcastic to him (sarcastic gets you 5 rivalry one time). Being a mage helps, because Fenris then dislikes you from the start.


I want Gideon Emery to voice the male PC. I will play many guys then!


Cullen really doesn't do much for me. I mean, it was amusing when he ran away from my female mage when she suggested they "got to know each other better",  but other than that he is meh. I also feel like his personality has been retconned (wait, am I spelling that right? Bet not) between DAO and DA2. In DAO he gets traumatized and greatly distrusts all mages. The epilogue slide even mentions him becoming Knight-Commander when Greagoir has to step down because of old age, and that he rules the Fereldan Circle with an iron fist. And in DA2 he is Knight-Captain for Meredith and he appears to be one of the most reasonable templars. I think it would have made more sense if Cullen was the one to go insane instead of Meredith.

I think you are overreacting, guys (gals). In that tread they are bashing every F/M LI existed. Fenris just got his fair share.

And, btw, how is Drs. leaving BW (which horrifies me too) means funeral for Hawke and Fenris?

And about Cullen - the more I play mages, the more I hate him. He might mean well, but his wording sucks. Very, very offensive in every quest involving mages.
