How about Bartholomew?

My daughter's been wanting to call something that for months now... she even asked me to have a baby so she could name it Bartholomew. I won't put what my reply was to her!

hehehe! You lovely dears crack me up! :D

So I have a Herbert, a Myron, a Todd, and a Bartholomew. lol And a request to name "the mole"....which is, I must say, a FANTASTIC idea!! :D

Seeing how this new herp-derp Hawke acts around Fenris, should warrant a few gafaws. I wonder if "blank" Hawke can truly befuddle Fenris. Even though he will end up with Merrill, I plan to drag Fenris around everywhere. I suspect, I will not be able to max his Friendship/Rivalry path...hehe. Could be funny.

As for regular party members: I was thinking of using (with exception of certain quests) Merrill, Fenris and Anders. For the lulz. I can just imagine. I have to quote from an anonymous writer on the kinkmeme:

"Fenris and Hawke kept walking while Merrill and Varric paused in order to continue their banter. The petite blood mage was inspecting the bottom of her foot, then trying to turn around and look at her own ass...." LOL

Next she/he wrote:

(inner monologue of Fenris) "Fastevas! Just when I thought she couldn't be any more of an ignoramus...It's a wonder she remembers how to breathe. How has she not been eaten by a demon yet?"

HAHAHA! Could totally believe these are the sort of things that go through his head at times. XD

Ahhh....good times. ;)

@aldy - damn you woman!! I'm going to end up naming his favorite pair of "toe" socks....ack! HAHAHA
Truth is, I think it's hilarious. I think we SHOULD name much of what he carries, and I think we need to come up with the "nicknames" he would eventually use on all his companions. Like Varric does, but a bit more facepalm worthy. >.< hehehe.

You so funny! :D

Hehehe...okay, two for "Todd". You can thank the dear man who lives in my house. :P He just was musing on the movie "Bubble Boy", when I was coming up with names for the voting polls. "Todd and Loraine"! HAHA! So....chose Todd to add to the list. Plus one of my favorite holiday movies uses the name:

"And why is the carpet all WET, Todd?!?"
"I don't KNOW, Margo!!"

LOLOLOL Christmas Vacation.....now I really want December to come..... :D

Actually I think I already marked your vote for Herbert...and I say, vote a often as you like. ;) I'll probably just take the top voted name for *blank* Hawke, then start using the next popular ones for his "mole", his daggers (yup, DW Rogue, baby!), his favorite stuffed Nug, ect...

:D

Boy, it's dead around here. I think I need to post some Fenris yumminess. :)

 Hurray, flying Fenris! Love it!
My vote is for Herbert too. HH - looks stylish.
And to keep tread even more alive (and - sorry - offtopic) I want to finish the talk about companions remodeling. Don't you agree that some companions do need it?

Another Herbert. ;)

I'm on the fence with Sten's redesign. I do like the design of Kossith in DA2, but still like my vanilla Sten in DAO. I guess, I am fine either way. :)

Keep in mind that painting is the armor in fact. I added some stats on it (thanks to gff4) but even without additional stats it was useful. And sins developers did tell that DA2 style was the original concept and in DAO there were only technical reasons to go with almost human shape for me morfing was the right thing to do!

It's DA2 style (MotA) no doubts, but god it's gorgeous! How do they expect us to wait a whole year!

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you on concept.  I did know that they had originally planned for Sten to look like what we got in DA2.  It is simply how long I have looked at Sten a particular way (I only started playing DAO on the PC a couple of months ago.  All of my other games were on the Xbox - bought DAO on the console when it first came out, since I had a useless PC at the time).  You get used to a certain look, and the voice matching the face/facial expressions....eh.  You get the idea.Posted Image

I live! Sort of.
AAAGHH Why do I always miss all the fun stuff?! Baw, that DerpHawke thingy is just great, I had many laughs. I wish I could spend more time with you awesome people, but suddenly... Stuff! Thousands of it! Blegh. I think the biggest arse may have passed, but I tend to think that all the time, so... We'll see.

April, those landscapes... I simply stared at the screen for a minute, ogling. Man. I know it's just eye-candy and pretty preliminary eye-candy at that, but still. Maaan.

ren, that's the qunari update mod, I think I posted it here a while back as a part of my recommendations... Here it is. This is to date the only mod I have installed that changes a majors NPC's appearance. Because it's that good.

Yes, this is qunari update from genius tmp7704 from the MrFlipFlop's list.
http://social.biowar...m/project/4592/  (sometimes links do not work here)
I can only add that if you don't want to learn how to activate console, you can buy the painting (armor) from different merchants. Like the one outside Orzammar (the one you are talking about Sten's sword with).

Nice to see you back Mr. FlipFlops :D

It is funny tmp was mentioned. Tmp caused quite a stir on the DA3 forum concerning the new engine the other day. Unfortunately, it was the same conclusion I had drawn concerning actual level design. The interesting thing is the dev overreacted to what was just a technical observation. I mean really overreacted. Tmp sounded very level headed and apologized as well but... I think tmp is right and hit a nerve. DAO took five years to develop.... this new game is getting 3, which I wonder about, plus they are working with a new engine. I hope they opted for a smaller, better designed game rather than expansive with less content. Anyway, just an observation. I'm not ready to be won over by eye candy ;)

And you wonder why they call me Mr. Grumpy pants.

How is derpy Hawke doing? Does he have a name yet because I'm leaning towards Nigel now.

aldien, and I'm sad to say that I understand all these concerns, but I'm just one of those magpie people, that love shiny things. Don't get me wrong, if a game is ****, then no amount of pretty glossy graphics will make me like it, but I do tend to enjoy them a great deal more than necessary. But that can be said of almost anything in games - flavour text, costume design, colour palette, walking animations and stuff like that. I just love it to bits and notice it more often than badly paced combat or boring level design. I guess the benefit is that I can enjoy myself almost all the time.

Also, while we’re on the topic of game design. I appear to be a psychic freak of nature, since I never had that dialogue wheel problem that many other people encounter, when the paraphrase is nothing like what the character actually says when you click on it. I was never surprised with such an occurence, neither in DA2 nor in ME. They always said exactly what I thought they would. I had much more trouble with the DAO system, since I had no idea what tone a line is intended to be delivered in, leading to me choosing something that I thought was sarcasm, but was actually just straightforward and rude, leading to disapproval. Sorry, Zev, I suck at communicating, I wasn’t trying to be mean! Did anyone else ever have that problem?

Nope. DAO dialogs were always very clear to me. While with the wheel I did have problems like mentioned in that topic http://social.biowar.../index/14226631

Actually, it's a good practice for RL :) Not every person can get your tone even when you talk face to face, while words are always there and CAN be taken literally. So DAO system is more realistic in that way. Try to be as offensively sarcastic with strangers in RL as your Hawke and count how many will understand you are joking.

I am ok enough with the wheel, but would prefer to know what exactly my character is going to say.

Amirit, I understand why people have that problem and that they genuinely can't see whatever connection was in the mind of the paraphraseer person, since it's just a couple of steps away from point-and-click adventure logic, but I guess different people communicate and interpret communication differently. I never had a problem with someone not getting that I’m being sarcastic or joking. Maybe it’s the audience or I’m just that cool. The wheel fits me better than it does most people, while the DAO system gives me more problems. As for preference, I don't really have one. Both are equally adequate overall, but I do vastly prefer the voiced protag to the silent one. I can understand the merits of the mute PC, but they just don't work for my style as well as the voiced hero does. It's just down to preference, I guess.

Edit: Tired and sleepy, prone to not making all the sense. I probably should've waited 'till tomorrow to reply... Oh, well. I actuallu had to run the post through MS Word to catch all the typos, since I'm too dazed to try and catch them myself
