@Fae - You should have no fear installing IRS and Skip the Fade (also recommend ZevranASAP) I am not currently running IRS (running ZRS for Zev, with ZevRing and ZDF...all Zev related), but I haven't heard of anyone who has had issue with it. Skip the Fade and ZevranASAP were the first mods I ever installed, and they worked (and still do) beautifully! I also have Alistairs Visible Kiss, No Helmet, NBAO, and various CC and armor/weapon mods. Only issue that has cropped up, was my PrintScreen button doesn't always work properly, but if I alt+tab out, then back in, it starts working again. I know some who have had this little glitch, and they weren't (supposedly) using any mods, so it may be unrelated.

So I gave myself a challenge (started it in the Thane thread) to actually make "me" in ME1, ME2, DAO and DA2 (cuz I never have). Yeaaaaah....that ain't going so well. Tried ME2 first; ouch! I came out "special". Tried DAO; apparently I think I look like Amy Adams. So I ditched that one, and ended up with Kristen Dunst. Bah! I figured, fine! I'll try DA2.....ummm. I look like "Wendy" of well....'Wendy's'. >.<

I'm too tired right now, but tomorrow I will try ME1, though I have about zero confidence I can pull it off. Seriously, how do some of these people do it?? How do some manage to get at least a partial resemblence to themselves with these PC's?? bleh......

Fae, don't worry, it seems very intimidating at first, but it's all actually pretty simple. HTML is complicated in comparison XDD The devs really went out of their way to make modding easily accessable. And the community is really great too, like the people here. So, just ask anything if you are at all unsure and we'll gladly help you. Don't worry about sounding silly, you won't be able to top the inanities I heard my father get on the job (IT engineer), there were some priceless gems though too. "Down there where everything's jumping". Where do you suppose that is on a Mac?

Not a first time I hear about "Alistair's mother was an elf" - and all of this is based only on the treatment of the baby by one noble? By the order of the father of that baby? Really?
I hope I missed something and there is more to support the idea. Because every bit of the game denies it.

So true! But in general my husband (who does not play at all) makes a character for me (you know, the best way to involve someone into the gameing is to ask to create character. Never works though). So, females he creates do look good. Always. That is why I say "it might be gender related" - as a woman I am better at morfing males. 

Thanks for that "faces" hint. Still, the library looks like a gallery of ugly monsters to me.  God! They have to hire someone who knows how to draw a mouth. And not in a comical way. I will have nightmares tonight

Amirit, according to the theory's proponents - yes. Fiona did ask Maric to keep her identity secret from the boy (it was a boy, by the way), so his life won't be tainted with the stigma of being the son of an elf as well as a mage.

EDIT: maybe. I actually got my girlfriend into the CC in ME (not a step further, though) and she made an awesome badass chick and a very taciturn lookin' fella, who had more character in his face than charm. I couldn't replicate either =__= Maybe it just depends on people and their natural ability to discern how different facial proportions interact.
Agh, tell me about the library. I just look at the first two pages of the “Highest rated” section and no farther. Telling that my two designs are nowhere near there XDD They both have like three stars.

Heh, actually my renegade male Shep turned out pretty sexy (at least I think so). In the character creation screen he didn't look so impressive, but in the game... I was excited for the love scene with Ashley because I then got to see my Shepard without clothes, haha. When he imported to ME2 he was even cuter. And then ME3 came... and made him ugly. His nose was suddenly huge, and ME3 insisted on making all the hair colors darker, so his brown hair looked black. He looked like an ugly Turk. And not that I have anything against Turkish looks, but it was just NOT what he looked like in the previous games. I tweaked the import at least 5 times before I gave up and started playing with him, mourning his lost sex appeal in every cutscene.
I would post a screenshot of him, but ME2 apparently hates screenshots and doesn't allow it, and ME1 screens are an uncommon file extension that can't be uploaded on imageshack.
Ultra-paragon Shepard I was very pleased with as well. He really was meant to be handsome, but with a big scar across his cheek (war hero background). Shame the scars disappear in ME2 and 3.

Others have already answered it, but it is entirely possible to rival Fenris without resorting to an aggressive personality. It is a bit more difficult though, and may require a little meta gaming and looking at the wiki. Being pro-mage is (naturally) recommended and required. Playing a mage yourself also helps, because then Fenris dislikes you from the start. When he confronts you about being a mage, choose one of the answers that annoy him (I chose to evade his question:  "why spoil all the fun and tell you now" or something like that). Gaining some friendship points isn't bad, but be careful not to reap to much of them, or else it will get tricky. I reloaded the first "Speak to Fenris" after recruiting because I got 20 friendship points, and in later acts that proved to would have been a bit too much. So in the first visit, tell him Kirkwall is your home now, not that you're dwelling on Lothering (plenty of role-playing reasons for that answer). And choose the very empathetic reaction when he has told you a bit about his past (leading to the "I'm not made of glass" and +5 rivalry).

I enjoyed this approach very much, so I wish you good luck.

Oh, and yes, full rivalry romance he will still be madly in love with you and follow you through hell and back. That includes siding with the mages.

Seriously, I screened a run through the entire trilogy with one character. It was awesome.

Does anyone know where I can get a mod to change Fenris' clothes? I love that long black coat.

Moto has been absolutely fantastic as she VERY patiently taught me how to do some bits on Modio and GFF4 editor for my xbox (a massive thank you again...you are a star!!)

BUT......

My hubby has bought me DA2 for the PC (that will be fun trying to play as I’ve never played a game on the computer before) so I’ve got to learn how to mod that and one of the first things I want to do is give Fenris that sexy coat...followed by clothes / weapons for everyone else but I have no clue which programmes to use and how the hell to do it... I’m a total noob when it comes to this.

I know roughly how to use GFF but other then that I don’t have a flipping clue!! If you know where to get and how to install the Fenris (and other) mods PLEASE could you let me know? (I’ll even bake one of my special “death by chocolate cakes with smarties and jelly babies on for you!)

ROFLMAO! I always said you were special DA2 is impossible!!!!! My characters, no matter what always look very similar. I've tried mods, hair, tattoos you name it, but they all still look related. Fenris has done all of the Hawke sisters 15 times at least Tell me that ain't messed up. I just use default FHawke now and a mod that let's me modify her face and then my females start to look better. There are not enough sliders in the character creator to make anything other than an unnatural chipmunk in DA2

You know I mentioned that about Alistair because I came across it the other day and it annoyed me I don't mix the books with the game. I don't read the books or the comics because I bought the game for the game. The game has its story and the books and comics tell a different one. They are written by one person, whereas what we see in the game was created by many different people, the end product if you will. Personally, after seeing Alistair's mugshot on the comic, I much prefer the Alistair in the game and his story.

Maybe you don't complain that much Ren. But you complain at me that much

I don't think the books or the comics tell a different story, I mean every now and then some info contradicts something but in my opinion I have not come across anything mind boggling. I believe DG said he was purposely ambiguous about the baby, and any info about Alistair in game was "This you know, cause this they have told you" him being the child of Maric and Fiona would make me such a happy little camper. C'mon, him finding out that not only does he have a mother, she was a Grey Warden and she's still alive! The room in all that for angsty smooshiness is never-ending. (He'll finally have someone who commiserates about Duncan, since my Wardens are usually... " Awww, You sad? Morrigan... he's all yours!")

I have been distracted by polishing some Fable play-throughs after my DA:O ending botched up sooo bad, but I think I am also just bored of still being in DA:O I want to be in DA:2 again. You're preaching to the perverted. I like that Alistair's mother in the books is an elf. I think that suits the character and I do think Alistair would love it. But... it's hard to reconcile that with the game, especially when people want to work with what they are presented with versus what DG writes outside of the game.

Which is another way of saying I am the writer and I will decide exactly what the proper Alistair should be not what choice you made in the game. That's what happens when you start combining the two and people's feathers get ruffled.

For instance, I don't like Alistair as king, yet in the comics he is king and apparantly it went towards the hardened route. That just doesn't work for me, so if that made it into the next game I'd throw it out the window, stomp all over it, burn it and then fling its ashes in the dung pile.

Fenris does that to people. He sneaks up when you least expect it. I should know... I'm sitting here deleting the polygons of his I don't like. Less spikey me thinks.

I try to make my first custom PC look like myself because I usually roll the first PT as myself.. you know.. if I was a powerful mage or butt kicking space marine. um yeah. Which usually doesn't always work so well since it's the first try at the CC. (that white haired mage I posted it supposed to be me except I dye my hair black.) Then after that I make characters.

aww, no screenshots of mister sexy Shepard? isn't that always a nice surprise though? It seems to be the other way around for me, make some nice looking faces in CC then get into game and wonder why they got hit with the fugly stick.

Always want to see more details of his arm tattoos... the backs and insides of his arms. Maybe a nice footsie shot too? Want more details on how his tattoos are layed out. If you have time of course, no big deal : )

Fae! If I can mod, you can do it! I was so scared to break the game or screw up my pc, it's rather intimidating but once I went for it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still figuring things out myself (one mage robe pack isn't working). However, I was able to get some hair, makeup, robe mods as well as the improved romance scenes. This warden just got to 'care' level with Alistair and the IRS "special" option shows but apparently it's only usable in specific areas based on the chosen origin. So.. tonight we are going back to the mage tower and see what happens. woot!

ok, for half life, there are a bunch of different ones, which is the best? there's the GOTY, epside pack, regular version,etc. I'll skip the orange box since I already got Portal still alive on the xbox. I assume I should get HL2 for PC?

** edit to add, since I can't shut up lately - re: alistair's mom. Reading the books (almost finished with Asunder) but as much as I love the idea of a grey warden mage being his mom, I stick to my headcanon that it's not Fiona but rather a servant (elf).  *goes back into the corner*

You could reload and try different options. I had a lot of friendship after the first talk too (20) but when I replayed I reduced it to 5 friendship. I looked at the wiki and the "you could make a home here" gets you 20 friendship points, so it's probably best to avoid that option.

@ April: as I said, I have shots of him in ME1, but the it's a really odd file type. It says it's .bmp, but paint won't even open it. :/ Guess I should download a program to take screenshots then.

By the way, get it for pc. Graphics way better. I think there is just a standard version without episodic content. If I bug the right person I might be able to get you a free copy. A legitimate copy you can download from Steam I should add. *goes off to prod*
