Yeah it does bring up Im sure the Isabela thread has mentioned to death, that Isabela might have a lower than normal fertility rate than most women.
Pretty much what I was going to say. That and her lifestyle (or the man she married when she was extremely young, who doesn't sound very clean in the carnal department) could help explain it.

Also, there are some surprising flowers outside of England that can be used for contraception... or abortion.
Funny you should say that, because I was going to mention it too.
In fact, my Colonial American history professor once had us read some courthouse documents about an abortion went terribly wrong. Apparently, colonial women would often "take the trade," which was a slang term for taking herbs that induced abortions. At the time, it was actually believed that babies weren't really alive until they started kicking, so if you induced an abortion before it started kicking, you weren't really killing it. Regardless of what any of us might think about it now (please, no discussion), it was their attitude at the time based on the matter-of-fact tone in the documents. "Taking the trade" was relatively standard practice if the girl's friends' testimony is anything to go by.
Anyway, flowers and herbs that work as contraceptives or abortions. Notice that poisonous plants like deathroot grow like weeds all over Thedas, and civilians like the pre-recruited Warden can learn Poison-Making. If the women of Thedas haven't learned to use them as birth-control yet, I am no judge of human nature.
Also, you may notice from the City Elf Origin and Kirkwall Alienage that elven women getting raped by human men is depressingly standard practice, yet how come there aren't dozens of half-human bastards running around in every alienage? I'm willing to bet they often take matters into their own hands with the elfroots and deathroots that grow like weeds in every alienage. Otherwise, how are there not more half-human alienage children like Feynriel or Slim Couldry?
