Well, technically there are Anders, Isabela and Merrill (and Sebastian, but I doubt any of my characters have THAT much self-restraint.)

 

Male Hawke has a stupid diplomatic option right after sex: "is it because I'm a man?" --> actual line: "was it... too strange to be with another man?" while female Hawke gets to ask about the markings hurting, but that's about it. Female Hawke also gets the investigate option in Act 2 Questioning Beliefs about Fenris never having had another lover while for some mysterious reason this is unavailable for male Hawke.

Actually, in my male Rogue!Hawke/Fenris friendmance with purple!Hawke, I got the dialogue wheel choice "Is something wrong?" which I think is the same as the one for fem!Hawkes.  But the actual line was the "too strange" one, which... triggered exactly the same response as the fem!Hawke lyrium question.  And yeah, I noticed the absence of that line for male vs female Hawke as well.  Seems like there's a certain amount of hand-waving on BioWare's part here, especially considering Danarius' comments about jealousy and Fenris' "skills" in Act 3.

I think maybe...don't quote me on this...it is meant to imply Fenris' relations to Danarius (him being a man) and it being mighty awkward because of that...it's pretty heavily implied he was a magister sex toy.

Well, yes, Danarius' "the lad is rather skilled, isn't he" can be taken as a hint for skills unrelated to Fenris' duty as a bodyguard, but that doesn't change when he is in a romance with female Hawke. It's not suddenly less vile or horrible then. But at the time when Fenris and Hawke have sex, Hawke should have no knowledge of this possible intimacy between Fenris and Danarius. Fenris only ever talked about him being his master's bodyguard, so why would Hawke think that his gender would freak Fenris out when there's been no indication towards this? You could say that Hawke guesses it, but I or my Hawkes certainly didn't, and there's no opportunity to ask Fenris after the encounter with Danarius. So to me it seems a very weird, useless question to ask.

There's also been no indication that Fenris was particularly attracted to men before he was romanced by a male!Hawke.  He mentions Hawke being handsome if you flirt with him as a man during Act 2 QB, which implies that he is on some level attracted to Hawke, but other than that and the line Dutchess mentioned above, there's absolutely no dialogue with him on the subject either way.  Granted, Fenris is an introvert who finds it hard to trust others, but it would be nice if I didn't have to headcanon quite so much of this for the M!Hawke/Fenris romance.

 

(I headcanon that they do talk about it, but only when they're alone and Fenris is drunk enough to let his guard down.)

The first conversation in A2 clearly establishes this, whether Hawke is a man or a woman. What more should they say on the subject? Discuss whether Fenris' preference leans one way or another? He's been alone all this time he's been on the run, so he doesn't have a track record to draw from. I doubt he gave it much thought while he was hiding from Danarius and the hunters.

Someone who is bisexual is attracted to both sexes. They do not have to and may not have a preference either way.

Take Isabela in your party (or don't recruit her) and it's Bran in the Act 2 Visit Anders scene.  Which is interesting on a couple of levels (and ot for this thread ... this just reminded me of that)

Back on topic: I'm starting to headcanon that Fenris takes Orana under his wing.  I feel like she'd be more open to trusting someone who shares the experience of having been a slave, rather than someone like Hawke (and particularly a mage!Hawke) who is not only human but someone who rubs shoulders with the viscount.  And from the brief interaction we see in-game, Fenris seems interested in her welfare.  I can even see him becoming a surrogate father to her, or perhaps an older brother?  There's just something sweet about her innocence and what I see as his protectiveness.

This is totally a thing.  What happens to her has got be traumatizing, then she has to deal with a new people and a new place to live in a completely different city.  Being able to have something familiar would be comforting, especially when that person has a similar experience (bonus head canon - Hawke sends Dog with her, because just going 'hey you all good to find my house? awesome' is kind of jerkish.  Dog spends the first few nights sleeping on her bed because mabari are Sad Elf Therapy Dogs)

Not really, though? I mean, he was fine with sending her out on her own with some coin, even saying that it would quickly be taken from her. That girl had no experience with living on her own as a free person, is in a foreign country and just saw her father cut open and bleed to death for blood magic. 

 

Fenris is nice to her and asks if she is alright, but it's a pretty brief, passing concern he displays. Pursuing Hadriana is much more important to him. Without Hawke's offer for help, I think he would forget about Orana rather quickly. I can imagine them building up a bit more of a bond when she ends up working for Hawke though.

She's always ended up working for Hawke in my playthroughs, plus I have yet to avoid romancing Fenris (sexy elf love ) so that's probably why I can picture this happening.  I just don't have the heart to send her away.  Well, that and I see Fenris as wanting/needing some sort of surrogate family, even if he at times acts like he doesn't.

 

In a lot of ways, he reminds me of a cross between Zevran and Morrigan.   He has Zevran's history of slavery and distrust of his own feelings, Morrigan's stated disdain for emotional reliance on others, and like both of them he eventually comes to realize he needs to reach out, to share his burdens and learn to trust.

How to screw up your Fenris romance when you have the stupid idea not to spoiler the stuff : Take an idiot ( ME/ FHawke ) give her one of the best looking elves and dark sexy voiced NPC , make them have a one night stand then he lives her .. and so i thought it was the end, that i ruined something along the way . Then Anders was all over my PC . Now I am stuck in a threesome with Anders and Justice .. good work here.. oh and btw usually i save before doing stupid stuff like this but yesterday i haven't . can't go back ! - goes to cry in a corner and wait for the next playtrough

Its worth the restart. Trust me. Anders gets more and more creepy the farther you go with him...I restarted like 20 hours worth of gameplay from the same mistake. I wanted to romance Anders after multiple play through a with Fenris....I just couldn't do it. Anders is a hell-a-no...

you know...... I'm going to redo my last playthrough's save and reject Anders (I'm going to pick "I love Fenris"). Although its priceless to listen to Fenris wanting to rip Anders' heart out if your Hawke slept with Anders... and Anders was too quick with saying "I love you" right?

Did you have that nice conversation with Justice about his plan? Or is that only a rivalmance option.
