The jealousy comment never bothered me that much considering when you take Fenris into the fade he is tempted by the demon's offer. There's obviously some lines when it come to magic that Fenris is willing to cross. Not that I think he's actually jealous, but Anders has really insensitive, tactless lines for nearly everyone's personal quests. I'm used to him being a duche.

But to be totally willing to turn someone over back into slavery? Like, wow. I actually expected him to be better than that.

Do you guys do the top post thing, here?

Fenris also admits later that he thought he was above being tempted by a demon's offer.  He doesn't explain why the temptation was so strong for him, but I took Merrill in my current playthrough and she described feeling as though the demon was pulling all her heartstrings at once.  I doubt it's any less strong for Fenris.

I actually think one of the things I admire most about Fenris is his willingness to admit when he's crossed a line, and to apologize for his behavior.  He may have high standards, but he applies them to himself as well as to others.  Anders, on the other hand, seems willing to excuse anything that furthers his pet cause.

I'm still reeling over the whole "give Fenris back to Danarius" thing. After all the time Anders spends bemoaning the "slavery" of mages, he's perfectly willing to hand Fenris over. And the worse part is I think Anders would be against slavery in general, Fenris is just an exception because Anders doesn't like him.

I just... what?

And I don't think Fenris tries turning anyone over to the Templars. He might suggest the mages belong in a Circle, but he doesn't turn on his companions that I can remember...

This. All of this.

It makes me rage thinking about how Anders is just a douche, hypocritical to the core.

And even if Fenris does want the mages in the circle, it's not the same as sending someone into slavery. I mean, the Kirkwall circle is pretty bad, but not all circles are like that. In fact some are pretty lax. At the bottom of it, I imagine Fenris just wants someone supervising the mages and making sure they don't get out of control. He doesn't want them to suffer the same abuses he has.

Anders... just... gah!

Oh don't be. I get super enraged when it comes to the Anders vs Fenris arguments. I can get pretty heated when defending our broody elf baby <3

It just baffles me a little when people prefer Anders over Fenris...and they go on about how Fenris is "whiny"...oh I'm sorry I didn't know that being a slave your whole life and being physically and sexually abused was supposed to make you happy and poop butterflies and rainbows....

But go ahead and tell me how life in the Fereldan circle was so bad...(considering the Fereldan circle was one of the most relaxed ones)

I can't understand anymore why people romance Anders... I just can't... everything about his romance just screams unhealthy relationship. And then there's... everything else he says and does...

Not to mention Fenris is HOT. Anders is....not that good looking... I love all the brooding, the glowing tattoos, the gruff sexy voice, the puppy eyes, massive sword wielding, deliciously tanned skin, spiky skin tight armor... *fans self*

Anders...needs the fashion police...and a lot of psychological therapy...

The jealousy comment makes no sense whatsoever either, though. Uhm, hello? Amnesia? Fenris didn't even know he had a sister, let alone that she is a mage. Anders is just full of ****.

THANK YOU. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I really wish that Fenris would have said something to him to shut him up, but I guess he didn't want to waste his breath...

Pretty much everything that comes out of Ander's mouth in DA2 makes me uncomfortable.

And I just wanted a video on youtube that if you suggest returning Fenris to Danarius, Anders is all for it. Like, really dude? I know you don't like Fenris, but I didn't realize you were that much of a dick.

All the people of Thedas deserve freedom except the ones who annoy Anders.

Also, remember the time he killed a teenager and then appeared at the funeral to try and convince her parents the Templars did it?

I have some issues with the Fade stuff, tbh. It bugged me that some potentially interesting stuff gets brought up, and then it's just dropped after one tiny conversation (*sigh* I really wish they had taken more time with DA2, it could have been so much more. I love it, but there's definite some stuff that suffered with the omg release now!).

Every one of your companions will betray you. Anders is the exception since it's not Anders, it's Justice (and Sebastian, but that's because he refused to go). Some people have screamed about how that makes Fenris a hypocrite, but I think it also points out that everyonecan be tempted, and doesn't that kind of back up his point? The demons use some deeply personal ****, too. For someone who has spent his life under the power of others, being equal to that and being able to fight back would be tempting.

And I don't think Fenris tries turning anyone over to the Templars. He might suggest the mages belong in a Circle, but he doesn't turn on his companions that I can remember...

Nope, and there's a banter between him and Sebastian where he says he won't hand Merrill or Anders over.

Sebastian: It's our duty to tell the templars.
Fenris: Then why haven't you done it?
Sebastian: I guess I was hoping they'd come to it on their own.
Fenris: And then you wouldn't have to betray Hawke's friends, right?
Sebastian: That's not reason enough to allow a maleficar to walk free.
Sebastian: Which of us should do it? Shall we draw lots?
Fenris: Uh-uh. You want to turn them in, you work it out with Hawke.

I think there's a couple of vague references to it, but not directly with Anders. And there's no way Fenris would be that open with someone he doesn't like or trust (all though if you take Anders for Bitter Pill, he would have heard Hadriana tell Fenris about her). It's just flat out spiteful and an attempt to reduce Fenris's experience to nothing (again).  Because there's no reason ever for anyone to be afraid of magic or the people who wield it, and it's only an isolated thing.

This is where I'm totally happy calling hypocrisy. Isabela's a pirate, and Varric's probably done some shady **** dealing with the Merchant's Guild. Hell, Hawke has killed people for money (and if you take the Red Iron path, probably more than a few). But that's totally cool. Being in a position where you can't say no make you the worst person ever.

It's that mage you save from Alrik in Act 2.

If he kills her, he tries to show up at her funeral and convince her parents she was killed by Templars until Aveline stops him.

It's kind of fascinating how this is scummy on so many levels.

Killing a young girl.

Showing up at her funeral.

Talk to her parents.

Lie to their faces.

Deflect the blame.

Use her death to manipulate her grieving parents into supporting the political view of her murderer.

Just...no. This is evil.

Oh, god. I always save her. I've never had her die, so I never got that banter.

I mean, I guess by this point Anders knows his plan to "help" the mages, so he doesn't want to be turned in because he needs to complete that...

Where do you get that he wanted to use her death to manipulate her parents?

Like you said, it's made very obvious in Bitter Pill. Even if Fenris never mentiond anything to Anders about his memory loss and we assume banters such as the one with Aveline where he mentions not knowing his real name are not heard by Anders, Bitter Pill should be enough to make it known to everyone. You could assume Anders wasn't present for the confrontation with Hadriana, but I think the companion quests are considered common knowledge after they happened. Related banter between two companions will trigger even if one of them wasn't present for the quest after all (e.g. Fenris going "I can control it, wasn't that what you said?" after Dissent even if Hawke didn't bring him along for it).

I'm not seeing that either. Unless the "do something" was interpretated as shifting blame on the Templars, I tend to think that at least here Anders just wanted to attend the funeral and try to make up for his mistake (which he won't be able to).
