Hmm, I find that's the case sometimes but I've found some cutscenes e.g. Isabela will overrule anyone, etc. It's probably a bit pot luck Still, like I say, there was nobody else there to overrule Fenris, just Hawke, Fenris and Aveline. Oh, well. Game was behaving oddly last night, kept getting half a second of someone talking during load scenes, game crashed a few times when I tried to start it up (after having shut it down because it was stuttering a lot - when Skyrim does that it's usually because the memory is getting full and restarting clears it out, so I tried doing that). Hoping it's just a blip/my PC having an off evening rather than the playthrough being FUBAR... (I have got quite a few mods this time around, couldn't find any clear info on how best to manage mods - Skyrim modding community has tons of guides, but then there's a lot more mods for Skyrim, I guess - so I pretty much just stuck things that didn't mention being incompatible with one another into the relevant folder and hoped for the best.)

Could do with being centred on Fenris, but this is them helping Aveline and Donnic (rather than sorting out their own problems...)

The order in which they talk depends on the order they are in your party. Whoever you choose in your party first will most likely talk, unless there is plot specific line. I always pick Fenris first and he always talks in the cut scenes, except when Anders smack talks Meredith after "On the Loose", if Sebastian is in the party he will talk over Fenris. Fenris will talk over anyone else. 

 

That's just my observation after playing the game that many times.... 

 

Sorry, but that's not correct. Some characters' comments take precedence over others' in certain quests. Who you clicked on first when you selected your party doesn't matter for that. For instance, for the Long Road quest, if you have Isabela in your party, her comments about Aveline's awkward flirting will overrule everyone else, even if you put her in your party last.

For example, in the Blooming Rose when talking to Idunna, in my experience, usually bringing Fenris as your first choice will trigger his speech, not sure but Isabella may override him if she is in the party. Or when scolding Merrlll about blood magic, he will say his line about tigers. ^{Are there even tigers in Thedas?}

Sorry, but you are wrong. The companions have fixed order in which they speak their lines. With Idunna it's always Isabela>Varric>Aveline>Fenris regardless in which order you put them in the party. Mages and Carver cannot be thralled. With Merrill opening the barrier Fenris will always take precedence over anyone else, and so on.

Yeah, thinking about it, I pretty much always pick Fenris first if I'm bringing him, and he often gets overruled. I'm now on Act III (think my rogue may be a bit OP, albeit I play on casual, Arishok fight took under twenty seconds, I think, with barely any running away (just a bit of dodging)) and they've reconciled, hooray! And I got Isabela back for the first time, which is nice.(I actually cclapped when she showed up, I'm such a grown up...)

Hawke's aggressive, so I got "is there any reason I wouldn't?" (Fenris: I, er, am pleased to see you, that's all... Varric: smooth. Anders: sings the whole of Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend, but substituting "boy" and "he/him" pronouns.)

 

I just took Fenris along for The Long Road, but I'm 99% sure Aveline didn't say anything about Hawke and Fenris. Oh, Leandra did comment on their relationship, actually, that was just before I started Legacy. Meh, hopefully it's just dialogue not firing off, not a fail in the relationship. I did think of rushing forward and checking if things fired off okay in Act 3, then reloading and playing through again, but my experience with buggy games is I'd do that, everything would be fine and then when I played through properly (with all the side quests and whatnot) it'd glitch out, so I'll not bother!

 

I think I prefer snarky!Hawke's response (why wouldn't I? ....), but probably not by much.  It's a little less brusque, I guess??  I don't remember ever getting a reaction from Anders, though.

It should trigger when you bring up having difficulty expressing stuff, which is in one of those investigate options.  This is it, just in case (ah crap, jump to 6.45 in   )

Oh, I found snarky!Hawke's reply (previous playthrough) a bit obnoxious, whereas you can read the diplomatic/aggro response as being a bit oblivious, not quite realising what he's getting at. Blah, neither is good! Anders just sniggers, dude doesn't take rejection gracefully.

(Okay, technically I never rejected him, because the rejection option is a bit extreme - more "we're not even friends, I don't care that you just had to euthanise your ex, don't come to me with your boring little problems" than just "sorry, not interested"!)

Oh dear, my son has also been playing DA2, but unlike me he didn't want to take spoilery steps to know how to max friendship/rivalry with Fenris. I had forgotten that you *have* to reach 100% on one or the other to reconcile romance-wise and we only realised when he was too far through Act III to be able to manage it without reloading a LONG way back. Even more frustrating, before the final confrontation he looked to be at about 90/95% rivalry! He was sad (Fenris is a very loveable elf) but decided to go ahead and his Hawke chose to fight with her Mage siblings. Up until they found Fenris and, well, neither of us were expecting the fight to the death part! Son rage quit and started a brand-new fem!Hawke who will be friendmancing Fenris with a spreadsheet handy of where to take him and where not to...

Well, he didn't play his new character for very long, but I'm sure he'll be back to it soon (he's gone back to his first DA love, Inquisition/Solas for now. Those heart-breaker elves...)

Apologies for the necro'd thread, but I'm doing another playthrough and just noticed this while doing Repentance.  It's from the cutscene in the guy's bedroom.

Fenris apparently isn't sure whether he's turned on, disgusted, horrified, or some combination.

 

(As a side note, I also got to hear the guy saying his line about "big hands" while Varric was opening the chest in the room.)

Fenris is my hero and I love every aspect of his bkground, his appeal with puppy eyes the depth of his loyalty and flaws. Even tho he has been compared to wolverine ( and has kitty pryde's phase pwr) I only want to romance him.
Much later then i found out he had been abused in adult themed fics, makes us wana protect him and his race. Im still writing abt him, unlikely to do for inqui.

If we're sticking to DA2, I'm very partial to Fenhawke (surprise!), but really almost anything except Fenris/Anders, Fenris/Merrill, Anders/Merrill, or Hawkecest.

 

(Granted, I can't recall ever seeing any Fenerill or Manders fics, but just to be on the safe side.)
