I wonder what Fenris's favorite season is. Seems like the climate is very different in Kirkwall than Seheron or Tevinter, and he's all wearing a belly shirt in WoT2 so... not winter?

Its a good question, but i just know only one better:

Did you drink Fenris' full wine supply?
Only half.

I usually play male Hawke, and there's that conversation (at the beginning of Act II, I think? Either Speak to Fenris or Questioning Beliefs) where Fenris is drunk and talking about his past and there's this flirt,
Hawke: I enjoy listening to you talk.
Fenris: And I enjoy a man willing to speak his mind.
I figured he would say more or less the same thing to femHawke ('I enjoy a woman willing to speak her mind'), but I've been Googling and combing through his dialogue on the DA wiki and I haven't been able to find anything! Can someone tell me if this is what he says or if it's different?

It's different. I believe he says, "I enjoy talking with a beautiful woman," or something very close to that. I always pick that option, not because of his response, but because I DO enjoy listening to him talk.
(Sorry if it appears I'm stalking you around the forums, but your avatar is easily recognizable!)
Since you're here, and this is the Fenris thread, I might as well ask this... I've done the m/m version once, but my canon Hawke is female, so I'm more familiar with that. But Fenris all the way regardless of gender
.
For the post-sex scene there are two options for the nice/blue response:
Fem Hawke asks him if his markings hurt, implying that that is what his difficulty is.
Male Hawke asks whether he had an issue being with a man (I don't recall the exact wording).
I was curious to know whether you had an issue with the male Hawke question specifically. I know some players dislike it along with Zevran's remarks about preferring women and such.

Oh, thanks so much! (And if anyone's being pseudo-stalked, it's you.
I never knew the line following "I enjoy listening to you talk" was different, and I absolutely love that. I was actually asking because I like to make note of gender-based dialogue differences for bisexual romances (the way Isabela responds to femHawke, or the extra repercussions of Merrill being with male Hawke, the Karl situation, etc.)
I think the difference here is really intriguing. It reminds me of the m/m Anders romance, where he says something like "not many men would be so bold..." Perhaps Fenris is thinking the same thing, and likes it?
I have only seen the blue post-sex scene response on YT (I have a weakness for the purple response, because inappropriate dick joke), but it doesn't bother me that much. It seemed less about Fenris's preferences (after all, I don't think he'd get down with m!Hawke if he didn't like him), and more to do with Hawke's insecurity, knowing about Fenris's past with Danarius. I don't want to assume anything about anyone's diplo Hawke headcanon, but that's just my personal take on it.
Either way, Fenris pretty clearly says "That's not it" in response to either the markings hurting or Hawke being a guy. He's just dealing with his own inner turmoil.

With Fenris sometimes the "direct" answer the good answer, not the diplomatic or sarcastic. (look at in Bitter Pill scene, when he thinking about he should visit his sister. If you choose the direct option, you gain +5 friendpoints, if i remember well.)

I've only ever done the diplomatic post-sex option, even though all my Hawkes to date have been purple. My canon Hawke is a female mage who took the Spirit Healer spec, so she was concerned she might have hurt him inadvertently. And my one M!Hawke who got that far was thrown by Fenris' post-sex reaction and was, quite frankly, a little worried that he might have done something that upset Fenris.

Yeah, Fenris responds pretty well to the blunt personality - birds of a feather, and all that.
I still choose the snarky ones because I like the idea of Hawke having chronic foot-in-mouth syndrome.
Also, snarky Hawke occasionally gets a laugh out of Fenris.

I didn't think there were suggestions about this until the Alone scene where Danarius makes his disgusting remark (this happens for a male and female), and then Fenris angrily retorts, "Shut your mouth, Danarius."

Ohh, I totally get why someone would choose those options. I just played my Hawke as a little dense - he was still in floaty afterglow mode, thinking that he'd finally gotten close to the amazing, enigmatic fella he'd had his eye on for ages... I think it didn't "set in" for him how upset Fenris was, initially.

That's the best part!
what is blue hawk? i thought its the diplo, then purple is sarcastic then red? Ahh yea abt when he is askec if markings hurt im sure he does feel that too on top of turmoil... It's how he wants to avoid the physicap reminder of the past. I often wanna swoop in and save him if time can reverse!
Just different names for the same thing. Blue/purple/red, diplo/charming/aggressive...

I think it's made more explicit there, but given what we know about slavery in the Imperium I don't think it's totally off-base for a diplomatic Hawke to come to that conclusion, especially if Fenris is freaking out post-sex. But as I said, I'm not used to choosing that option so I don't have much of a headcanon for it, unfortunately... I mean, he's been flirting with Hawke regardless of sex for a long time by that point, and eagerly went to bed with them, so I'm pretty sure he has no issue with what's between Hawke's legs.

This, particularly given Fenris' reaction when Sebastian talks about Danarius making Fenris "do things."
And given that I as a player saw the post-sex scene on YouTube before I ever played DA2 and immediately suspected Fenris had been sexually abused, I find it very easy to see my Hawkes jumping to the same conclusion. At least the more experienced ones.

"You're squandering something you don't understand."
and
"If the existing relationship prevents a new one, go somewhere you are equal."
Both comments are particularly poignant if you're romancing him. I like that last line because it's a telling parallel to his own relationship with Hawke, and the kind of relationship he wants with them... I squealed about it on tumblr, haha: Fenris has been through so much and has had to continually reevaluate and redefine the important relationships in his life. And now he’s at a point where he can give this kind of advice to a friend, he can tell her and assure her that it’s okay to redefine those relationships for her happiness. That you are not beholden to the old definition and it can be anything you want it to be.

There are hints early on that the relationship was pretty sketchy, what with the leash wearing and propping up furniture comments (it's definitely obvious in Alone, though. Not just the way he reacts to that line, but his fear too. The dialogue in general is pretty heartbreaking)

Yeah, when I think of Fenris's past I want to... cry and kill things at the same time. And all those little hints and nudges had me thinking along those lines even before Gaider confirmed it.

Ohhh, that's the worst. It's like that shovey-camera shot (LOL there's got to be a technical name for this) when Hadriana tells him he has a sister and she's alive.

Nooooo! I think it was intentionally written that way, to be present but ambiguous until Word of Gaider confirmed it. So there were many people that didn't get that impression. I remember people debating the implications pretty fiercely before!

Hello vertigomez, Wow you're quite a pro! since it's a green leaf i take it as green hawk lol lol.
@Nightscrawl Haha u're not thick in the head, when i first played i had completely no inkling what D did to him, it's very implicit. My friends on fanfics talked abt it, and im like ooooh really?? It's so implicit not everyone can see it. Like the reason for Fen being furious at D speaking like a sicko to him, is also logical if he had purely hit and used him as a fuel.

And it shows Fen really wants Aveline to be with donnic ^ ^ yeay loyal friend lol
Oh yes, about the sex scene diff between M hawke vs fem hawke >> Yes Garrett asks him is it strange to be with another man?no matter what Fen still ans it's not that. ehhh, then i wonder doesn't a gay man exhibit more sensitivity not to cause distress to him? Plus i read someone's interv with David, he said he did this m/m pairing first

There are soooo many little differences like that for male/female Hawkes, in all the romances. I like it because it shows acknowledgement of your chosen Hawke's sex, but it never feels like one is "better" than the other (or at least it doesn't to me!).
LOL sorry, I segued off into non-Fenris talk...

You're not. Most of the pre-Alone dialogues and banters have several potential interpretations. Even the post-sex scene, which for me was the biggest clue, can still be interpreted several different ways, especially in a rivalry romance.
