I liked one where he asks a giant spider to open wine. And he climbs up a tower to see her, though after the Arishok fight he would be too weak to do that haha

Rage isn't a sentient being. This is a hilariously forced comparison.

And one who can make his own decisions, however flawed those may be, certainly is more reliable than one who is unable to do it freely.

I just had to kill him because apparently I didn't earn enough friendship points with him. I stood by and defended him all through the game and killed Danarius for him and he still turns on me. I was close to having him at 100% friendship but not quite so he turned on me?! Maybe I'll just give him to Danarius next time!!!  

 

Edit.....Okay so now that I've calmed down I take back that I would give him to Danarius. He was the only one in my party not 100% friendship and being a mage didn't help me. Didn't realize even after doing all his quests but not 100% friend would cause him to turn. I guess the same can happen with other party members and now I wonder if you don't have max friendship/rivalry with all party members if they would all leave? 

Uhm, Fenris doesn't fight you on Friendship path,.. unless you choose to. He'll side with you if you ask him to ("Join me" option). Only Rivalry can be tricky.

Yeah it's only rivalry that has to be maxed or he'll turn on you. If you're at 80% friendship you're fine.

I finished DA2 for the first time last night, Fenris romance 100% friendship so he goes with you immediately, regardless. I love his amazement of the things he does for you, so cute~  T_T

 I really dislike slash ships. The only ships I'm okay with are those supported by, or hinted at, in the actual media: Fenris/Isabela, Bethany/Sebastian, Merrill/Carver, Dorian/Bull, Blackwall/Josephine, etc.

Slash is just slang for m/m pairings.  Femslash is f/f.  If you hang out in anime fandoms yoai and yuri get used instead (mostly).  Crack shipping is more like really weird, or wtf are you smoking?!  Mostly I've seen pairings like Morrigan/Alistair called hateships (TV Tropes calls it Foe Yay).  There's one or two I've like before, just not from DA.

If Fenris is a 100% friend or rival and his Act 3 Questioning Beliefs quest was completed, he will immediately agree to help Hawke who sided with the mages. If his Act 3 Questioning Beliefs quest was not completed, he will initially refuse to do so, even if you have his 100% approval. Later Hawke will meet Fenris in the Gallows courtyard:

• If you choose the top option ("Join Me") and Hawke has any (0-100%) amount of friendship, less than 50% rivalry, OR 100% rivalry with Fenris, he will rejoin the party.
• If you choose the top option and Hawke has ≥ 50% and < 100% rivalry with Fenris, he will refuse to help again.
• If you choose any of the other two options, he will also object (I think they mean reject) Hawke.

In the last two cases he will show up inside the Gallows and you will be forced to fight him to the death.

 

 

Being a mage doesn't actually make all that much difference.  I think there's only point were you can't get out of gaining rivalry, and that's when you first meet him (and he's got every reason to not trust your intentions).  If you didn't have him at 100%, you won't have unlocked his last Question Beliefs, and that's what you need to get to get him to side with you right away.  Being pro-mage can make a difference, especially if you have the same kind of view of slavery (so you end up somewhere in the middle)  It's not that hard to max out his friendship and still be pro-mage, though.  Just take his personal experience into account.

 

Isabela, Varric and Warden!Sibling are the ones who'll follow you with out question.  The others can either be killed, or side against you (though it depends on what side/quest decisions/completed companion quests ect.  You can sometimes convince them to side with you).

Exactly.  As I believe I've said before, Fenris seems to care more that Hawke is willing to validate his personal experience than that Hawke agrees with him on how mages should be treated.

I'm starting to see Fenris as a sort of reincarnation of my Warden (who also a broody CE). I had actually planned on letting Fenris die in this DA2 playthrough, but the more I think about it, he needs to live. Now I'm rethinking my story midway through. My Warden died, so it would be kind of cool to have another "dark wolf" elf warrior wandering around out there, keeping hope alive. Hopefully there will be enough friendship points to do it.

 

I'm not romancing him on this playthrough though. I kind of like the Isabela pairing, even if it's shallow. I could see them hooking up, on and off.

 

 

On a sidenote, Fenris is the toughest fight in the Fade. If he gets the jump on you on Hardcore/Nightmare, you're screwed.

Yeah, I've since discovered I was using the term incorrectly when I raised the issue in another forum. It makes sense to me with what the word is, but I'll have to ignore that aspect of it.

Yeah, I'm new to the Fenris thread anyway, I've been hanging out at the Cullen one for some time though . Zev is cool but not me DAO fave/LI...that's Alistair for me x). Fenris is the only non-blond-Ferelden I like haha

No, no.. I don't want him to die. Got him at full friendship actually. I just thought it'd be a tragic playthrough at first.

 

CE = City Elf. My City Elf warden died. And I sort of imagined that my Hawke became fond of Fenris, because a City Elf saved Ferelden. She wants to help and see the best in him...even though she's a mage.

 

Varric might be her best and most fun friend.. Aveline like a rival sister.. but Fenris is the one she feels humbled by and tries to be most honest to.

Actually, it's a scouting term here in the US, but it comes from animal dens.  Cub Scouts are the youngest/most junior Boy Scout level, and their troops are (or were) often led by adult women.  I'm not sure of the exact history, but somehow "den mother" became the term commonly used to refer to those women. http://www.merriam-w...nary/den mother
