That's definitely the best DAI version of him I've seen. Still not as good as the original, but it is a very good likeness of him.

Agreed! Gosh I want to see Bioware's take though...
Thanks for the list of mods...modding DAI is scary lol, but I might do it some day so it's handy...

I sort of don't want to see what Bioware would come up with.
Lady Hawke looks nothing like her DA2 self , I thought at first , well perhaps this is the best they could manage with the new engine...but then a player posted her/his version (it was on this forum sadly haven't been able to find it since ) and the player version actually looked like the DA2 Hawke.
So I'm not holding my breath.

Hey I said I want to see it, not that I think it'll look good haha...
Yeah it's definitely not the engine that's the issue! I love how all my (NO mods) Inquisitors that I painstakingly created came out...so I know it's possible to make good looking ones haha
I mean some of the characters brought over look good, if not at all like their previous counterparts (ie. Cullen, an improvement, Varric who looks about the same)...so you never know...he might look awesome...lol
I'll take this opportunity to show off my attractive Inquisitors ![]()
This is sad and most likely true.

Omg why does he have mohawk style? The modder is creative but i want his usual hair. Miss him? U can play 2 again isn it? Its the 1st thing i checked after my hard disk got wiped. Woot
Yeah I am not too into the mohawk either, but the fandom is really into it so I am not surprised they used it.
I doubt fenris would wanto be involved in future Fade issues his tattoos would be really painful
Well if Solas does what he intends, the Fade is about to get a lot less avoidable for our dear Fenris...so I'd say he has purpose to put up with it for the sake of others. Especially if Hawke survives.
EDIT: Also he went into the fade in DA2 (although not physically I suppose? so it might be different) and didn't seem worse for it physically...unless you want to argue the reason he betrays you so easily is because he was in pain and not thinking clearly...

Solas is one selfish egghead. I detest him because he can't speak for all elves, in that aspect he behaves like Prince Nuada. Rem the Hellboy 2 movie? They just assume all are the same. Umhm he went into the Fade, yes that can be true mentally he wouldn't be able to resist temptation. From fanfics, it's said he's in great agony when any magic is performed too near him :/

I mean it's certainly possible he'd be in pain in the fade, I just don't know for sure. Also 1. that's fanfics, 2. that's magic...magic, I know, feeds off of the fade, but it still may effect him differently being in there physically.

Why are you using fanfic as confirmation of anything? It's one thing to read a fic and be presented with new ideas about a character that you might not have considered, but you certainly can't use those to prove anything.
But going along with that argument, he would be in "great agony" pretty much all the time during combat, especially with a mage Hawke around. That's just a little far fetched. Even the phrase "great agony" is so extreme as to bend credibility.
I think somewhere in a codex entry in DA2 is mentioned that there is residual pain from the markings and that he tries to hide it? Or maybe he mentions it to Hawke? Or I could just be making that up out of thin air? ![]()

You're correct, but this is more of a "chronic pain" issue than having anything in particular to do with the fade...at least as far as anybody knows.
Bethany: So, the magister put lyrium in your skin?
Fenris: So I'm told.Bethany: Does it hurt?Fenris: Yes. Sometimes.
In response to a few questions I've seen in the past few pages:
* Fenris has an accent. It's a bit unusual, but I'm not going to say what it is or you're likely to pinpoint his VA in about 30 seconds. And we can't have that.
* I wouldn't make too big a deal of his touch-causes-pain thing. It's more of an aversion than actual physical agony. You'll see when you play, though honestly he doesn't dwell on it at all. It's not central to his story.
* Regardless of what his story involves, I'm sure you'll find Fenris fun. Just like Varric. Let's all just get along and not stake out imaginary territory, shall we? That would be swell.
Sorry about all these separate posts...I Had to go about 2000 pages back for this and wasn't sure how to tack it on the the previous post.
Anyway, the point of these quotes are thus: I don't think the pain has anything to do with the fade in particular...seems more like it's probably tender or hyper-sensitive where his markings are...at least I can't find any connection between his markings hurting him and magic being used around him or anything fade-related. Or even that it hurts when he uses his marking-related abilities for that matter...which in of itself is related to the fade, as well as directly coming from the markings..

One of his codex entries has 'The process of their creation was painful, and in unguarded moments, Fenris attempts to control the agony that lingers still.' There's a couple of comments from Gaider really early on that suggest that that they still hurt, but that it's also partly touch aversion. In the post sex conversation, f!Hawke can ask him if it's because the marking hurt, and he replies with 'no, it's not that'.
So kind of? That magic makes it works is a fanon thing, though.

The last line is incorrect - his reply is 'you do not want to know the answer to that'

I copied that from the dialogue section of the wiki so I don't know where they got that bit from.
But yeah, I think a lot of people get "headcanons" mixed up with actual canon a lot, especially when a lot of authors of fanfics kind of accept a headcanon and go with it...and then pretty much universally fanworks accept it as a truth, eg. a lot of things about Turian physiology in ME fanworks.

The wiki makes me head desk a lot, since a lot of it is unsourced (there's video of their banter here). It's easy to miss - if you play a male mage, the only reference you get is the codex entry.
Fanon!Fenris has no sense of humour, and hates affection, even with a romanced Hawke. It makes me a little sad, because he's really not this constant rage machine who hates everything (he gets angry, sure, but it's not like it's not understandable). It's funny how often fanon gets treated as canon, and it's such a thing in most fandoms I've been in. I don't usually mind it, except for when it contradicts actual canon (and irl science, but that's usually because I can be overly pedantic lol).

@nightscrawl I read quite a couple of fanfics what is wrong with that? Other than ingame there are other developments a charac can take isn it? I highly believe and am going along that Fenris can be in pain that's why he's grumpy. Gaider wrote that in the character bio section in the game too, he has to control his agony.
Fanon?
Nope i dun really stick to only certain depictions of him. Im going with the sympathy vibe, that he would wanto be with hawk peacefully. You can believe what u wish, pls don't limit others viewpoints on what we think

This isn't about trying to limit your enjoyment of fanworks, it's about separating fanon and canon when we are discussing in-game situations. Nobody said people can't have their headcanons or enjoy fanfics (lord knows I've read some very non-canon and plenty where magic usage hurt him) it's just that you can't apply fandom/fanworks logic and creations to the canon actual game...which is what we are discussing, namely if Fenris would be present and active in the next Dragon Age game.

Fanon is slang for something that's a commonly accept idea by fans but isn't actually expressed in the source material (it's a mash up of fan + canon). Like the pain thing - it's not really clear from the game whether he does or not, or how much magic has an effect on it. There's nothing stopping people from liking it, or writing about it. It's just about acknowledging where it's come from.
You can make him laugh like 5 times...he jokes quite a bit with Varric and gets along well enough with Isabela
He's dry a lot of the time, which I think people miss. He's adorable in MotA, though. And I'll never not lol over this line, or his reaction to Isabela's butt joke.
He have good sense of humour, and not forever grumpy/morose/sad.
(Friendship romance)
"H: I might be able to help with your problems... or give you a few more
F: Only a few?
H: It depends if I really work at it.
F: Tempting"
(Rivalry romance)
"H: I might be able to help with your problems... or give you a few more
F: More problems, than you normally do, I assume"
"H: I thought Danarius considered you valuable.
F: He wasn't given a choice. The look on his face as the ship pulled out was priceless!"
"It's good, I can still take pleasure in the small things." (After he threw a glass to the wall)
Some banters with him (I deliberately skipped Isabela, we've already mentioned):
