I bet Fenris was at one point just a normal slave purchased by the Magister at some point in his life. For a time the Magister used Fen for his intended purpose (a servant/worker) until he started to experiment with lyrium. Those brands had to do something to Fenris and allowed him to escape.

Also until I see otherwise I have this guy pictured as the Magister in my head:

I realized today that Fenris shares a number of attributes with Geralt of Rivia.

  • White hair
  • Two-handed swordsman
  • Had magical experiments done on him
  • 'Stoic' and 'brooding'
  • Amnesia
  • Name derived from 'wolf'

I wonder if that's deliberate.

BAHAHAHA. Omfg yes. Poor Fennigen.

But I considered him being born into slavery, but I'm not really sure what I think about which one is more likley. Hopefully this topic is touched on in the game. It doesn't really matter but a bit of back story is always nice. Feel free to let us know Ser Gaider ;P

Doc's crazy backstory idea. Fenris was given lyrium brands by the Magister. Lyrium (when described in Awakening) attracts the spirits of the Fade.

After enduring unbearable torment at the hands of the Magister and near death from lyrium poisoning The Spirit of Justice (yes our corpse buddy from Awakening) Grants our elven friend a repreive from death and helps Fenris to escape his master in hopes that the elf will one day make the Magister pay for his hubris.

Fenris however, doesn't remember Justice aiding him in his escape; an effect of the lyrium brands, however in combat he is filled with a almost holy fury when he sees those who resemble his opressor. In this Fenris has a dual role in this world: what the Magister intended him to be and what Justice hopes he will become.

The particular spirit you speak of helping Fenris depends on when we find Fenris in-game. Justice could be engaged in Awakening matters when Fenris escapes. But I like the idea.

Very cool but...how many foes have that shade of blue as their skin tone?  ;)

Joking aside, that is a cool idea, at the very least the connection to a spirit is possible and not entirely out there. It is also, surprisingly, a lead up to the prompts I'm posting now because I am ill and exhausted but most likely won't be up at a decent hour to post them tomorrow.

And so, without further ado we present;

Posted Image

This Thursday's prompt options are;

A) Unlikely places
B) Child's play
C) The spirits/virtues (Valour, justice, faith, etc.)

VERY IMPORTANT EDIT: You do NOT have to use all three prompts, pick one or combine them in any way you choose, and be sure to tell us what prompt you've covered at the beginning of your post.

Participation is NOT mandatory, but always welcome. Anything you make, pictures, banners, comics, dialogues, short stories, photos of wood carvings etc. are permitted and welcome, but we ask that you use discretion (though I'm sure you all would any way) and don't produce material which is inappropriate.

That said the number one rule is have fun (or not if you really don't want to I suppose...) and hopefully we can have some great discussion around all of the things people create.

Now, goodnight, it is time for sickly Squadettes to go to bed and recuperate.

Oh you know it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong if his master is indeed a mistress. I believe that got brought up on page [don't feel like lookin]... but the conversation didn't flesh out because too many people started plotting the death of Bethany since she may be a romantic rival. So what does that tell ya

Well here goes:

Prompt: Unlikely Places

After a harrowing journey through the Deep Roads, Hawke and the party have returned to Kirkwall to rest and restock. Fenris; choosing to forgo the company of the party choses to take a walk through the streets of Lowtown.
Whilst walking amogst the shanties and old slave quarters, Fenris soon finds himself in the presence of a mighty tree that stretches almost to the top of the city walls. Deciding that this place is as good as any to sit and rest, Fenris sits at the titanic base of the tree and closes his eyes.

Elder Cyrus: I see you found the vhendadahl lad. Most newcomers here have be scampering through the Undertown so long that they're a little afraid of seeing actual flora.

Fenris:
I have seen trees before elder, but I did not expect to see one in Lowtown.

Cyrus: Well then lad, you've obviously never visited the Alienage before. The vhendadahl here is the only tree in Lowtown.

Fenris:
(awestruck) Forgive me elder, I mean no disrespect, but this is the Kirkwall Alienage? It's more beautiful than I expected it to be.

Cyrus: (confused) Lad, that's not the reaction most newcommers have, where do you hail from?

Fenris:
Tevinter, I spent most of my life in that black pit in the service of a Magister. Once I escaped, I heard tales of this place, of this tree and the paradise that the elves here have built.

Cyrus:
I can see why you considered this place a paradise then, my father too was a slave of Tevinter for many years before he fled here. From the stories he told me of that place, of what he must have seen...(inhales)...Ah well lad enough of the past. Name's Cyrus by the way I tend to look out for our kin around here.

Fenris: (genuinely happy) Fenris.

Cyrus: Fenris, eh you wouldn't happen to be one of the Champion's lot that there's been talk about would you?

Fenris:
You know of Hawke?

Cyrus:
Aye, there's been talk of his exploits around Lowtown. But that's beside the point lad, the Champion and his band is giving the people around here something that's in short supply in Kirkwall; hope.(chuckles) That's quite a feat for an elf who just so happened to stumble into the Alienage.

Fenris: I am glad to be of service to my kin Elder Cyrus. If it means perserving this place so that others may enjoy its sanctuary will continue on alongside Hawke.

Cyrus: Lad there's no need for vows or theatrics, its a good day, the sun is out , and you've found a home amongst your people. Ah well, I'll let you get back to your nap. (places hand on Fenris' shoulder) Good luck lad.

Fenris:
Thank you, Cyrus.

In regards to the prompt, Fenris set out just to get some time alone. He found a home and a people who understand what he's gone through, yet still welcome him with open arms.

Not familiar with that. Book? Game?

Also, as to prompts, I'll have to come up with something tomorrow after school. So for some of you, it might be nearer Friday. But contribute I shall!

Hmm....it's still Wednesday for me, but only for three more hours.
I had this prepared, and now I shall just smack something on it. This elven spirit of "Faith" is being a faithful shoulder for femHawke to cry, as she grieves for the lost of a loved one? And encouraging her, giving her faith?
Edit: The reason he is taller than her is because it's based on my real life height, which is about 5"6-7, which I think is about the height of an elven woman (this might be wrong, as I am horrible as guestimating.)

Both - Geralt is the main character of game The Witcher which is loosely based on Andrzej Sapkowski's book The Last Witch

REGARDING PROMPT THURSDAYS

As you all can see we have a number of excellent prompts, but only so many Thursdays. Therefore I was thinking we could;

A) Claim the ones we want and produce as Jan./Feb./early Mar. continues (I don't really like this one)
B) Pick on per contributor + a fan favourite
C)Use two-three prompts per Thursday
ex - Prompt 1, Prompt 2 or Prompt 3 in any style of your choosing, due before next Thursday.
D)Give out the prompts and get new ones each week
E)Other I haven't thought of.

Thursday is coming and I'd really like to get this going so that's why I'm being a little uh...bossy (see asterik for apology and details). IF I'VE MISSED PROMPTS SEND ME A PM OR SOMETHING. I don't mind and will rectify it immediatly.

Questions or concerns, throw them here.

*Squadette isn't usually this bossy but she just spent all day wrangling 5-7 year olds (who spoke neither French nor English as they were Estonian) for her boyfriend who didn't think to tell her they didn't speak English or French. Thus, she's a little crabby/still in 'you're five I am older so you must do as I say even if it is in mangled Russian you barely understand' mode.

EDIT: Just a heads up, bed time for Squadettes is approaching, so don't be surprised if I disappear for seven hours followed by another five.

*Grumble Grumble* Elves are so the jocks of fantasy...first they take the girls, and then they try and take over draw varric thursdays *Grumble Grumble*

Seriously though, it's a good idea to have prompts/themes for the week...although Fenny might want to think of trying to grow some chest hair, maybe shave Carver's head and staple or crazy glue it on his chest? :)

As long as he doesn't sparkle in sunlight (although, I can REALLY see that happening with some sustained abilities like in DA:O :) or start swooning over 'Bela, I guess he'll be ok :)

Hehe, I do like Twilight (The books are great, but the movies are okay).  Team Zevran, by the way Posted Image.  But I was mainly going off of some of my intrests.  But I place my trust in Ser Gaider, knowing that he will make Fenris awesome. Posted Image

As for the prompts... "Unlikely Places" seems intresting.
