A question for everyone in the thread. Do you think that Fenris is religious? Not in a joined the Chantry and became a monk way, but sort of like Leliana (minus the whole vision thing).
To me I can see Fenris relating to the teachings of Andraste, as she too was a slave in the Tevinter Imperium who escaped and eventually took down the Imperium in it's original form.
I can't exactly see him visiting the local Chantry, I can see him trying to apply Andraste's teachings to his life as a kind of coping mechanism.

He could also be the opposite-- completely unrelgious, and questioning of others why they call upon any form of deity because of what happened to him. He could have a sort of thing where he believes: "I called upon the Maker and Andraste to help me... and I got nothing. Why should I believe in something that doesn't exist?"
Both sides have valid arguments...From my perspective, I lean more towards Dr. Doctor's (Mr. MD, Doctor!!!) viewpoint. I can see it more as something he could look to to get him through such a difficult period, using the teachings of Andraste (or more likely, the Tevinter Chantry's version of things) to nourish his spirit as his body is the property of another...similar to how slaves in the American South used and adapted Christianity to develop a distinct slave religion...

This. I honestly think he'll be very jaded after we meet him, because even after all is said and done he's still an elf and is gonna be treated like garbage just for being so, slave or no slave. Then the added effect that he's infused with lyrium and has lost his memories on top of that.

I wonder if we will ever get the cituation where maybe a stranger calls him "Knife Ears" or something derogatory and he reacts strongly because of his abuse.

Fenris doesn't sound like a person who is well acquainted with Thedas' culture.
Well he's probablly only seen it from inside a cage/cell/where ever he was kept. It all depends on when he was released. You are right.

As for religion, I dont think he will be very religious. I think he will tolerate other peoples' religions, but he himself may not be so religious.

Boo to racial slurs, poor Fenris. But yeah religious I dunno, he's most likely got his own moral code he goes by I'm not gonna pretend to know what that is, but he's isolated, lonely and ailed with a terrible affliction he's most likely going to have a look out for myself and only myself type of code. And as far as the memory situation goes I think he'll suffer internally with that. Part of him will want to remember but the other half is maybe afraid of what those memories hold?
I keep forgetting he lost his memory. I'm assuming he will remember his time as a slave? Cause that could completley change some of our answers if he doesn't remember the hardship and pain he went through.

What was the timeline we had theorized? I can't pull it off the top of my head, but it does leave room for Fenris to remember the pain and be mistrusting.

I think this point depends on the extent of his memory loss. Can he even have a clear concept of religion? Usually religious beliefs are instilled from family - changing for some, later in life.

Granted we don't know how much of his memory he's lost but I think he may remember bits and pieces of being a slave, otherwise he wouldn't be running away from the magister. I'll bet a box of raisins he'll forget alot of the actual lyrium infusion, if not from the process itself but as a way with coping with the experience of it all..which I'm assuming must've been pretty darn awful. >_

*Pulls out box of tissue and puts them on table*
Don't worry, I think we'll be OK. Fenris too.

Nothing really just speculating about Fenris' terrible life and how much of his memory he may have lost.

As well Fenris' religious views.

Given BW's usual handling of amnesia Fenris might sometimes get random snippets of memories in no particular order mostly while he sleeps. That could be a plausible reason why he might sit alone in camp. He's trying to piece together the bits of memories that he's seen.
On the whole "living weapon" front, perhaps Fenris was tailor-made as an mage hunter/assassin. From the sound of things there's quite a bit of infighting between the various Magisters and other mage nobility of the Imperium, making assassins a bit of a commodity.
I think that perhaps Fenris' lyrium brands act as a kind of anti-magic Faraday Cage (when Fenris is hit by a spell the majority of the energy is directed across the lyrium instead of directly into Fenris) Add in the fact that his lack of memories in regards to his past Fenris becomes a hard subject to interrogate should he be captured.
Just an idea

Fenris and Wolverine... I hope not. While Wolverine is a bad ass character in his own right, he's a bit too.. rough? Fenris seems to be more of a sensitive type. Although I would probably laugh if I heard Fenris say "bub" at some point.
I'm not talking about personality, more, like backstory.

@Tricky, I was under the impression that he lost his memory because of the lyrium infusion.
Yeah that's most likely the case I was just also speculating that some of it may also be a coping mechinism of sorts similar to what happens to victims of post traumatic stress. The brain represses the memory so to speak.
I await the dialog where Hawke will try to get close and he'll just be like I DON'T WANT TO REMEMBER! *angry points* lol

Doubt it will happen, but it would be interesting if Fenris does not get his memory back during the span of the game, and it remains a mystery. And it woud drive me positively nuts.
