True. Fantasy romances have nothing to do with real-life romances. Some of these characters are seriously screwed up. When people say things like "I want to date my romance" or "why can't they be more sensible like someone in real life" my response is generally "Good God, why would you want that? This is a fantasy in more ways than just the genre."

In other words, if I gave some of these people what they thought they wanted, my suspicion is they wouldn't actually want it. So I excel at giving people what they don't want. Which is weird, but there you go.

I don't know why but when I read this Jacob Taylor was the first thing that popped in my head.

That would be fair for us, since our old topic was closed because of this one. The reason the other one got closed is because it didn't have the name Fenris written all over it (as we didn't know his name back then) and the OP didn't say "Hey! Here is the character's page!".

Varric and the others are allowed to have a fan thread and Fenris' doesn't? Why? Because you say so? Well we don't really care about your opinion as somebody already stated that. And if you read my idea for the thread's name, it didn't even contain the word "fan". We just want a place where to talk, draw and write dialogues without you guys barging in and comparing him to Wolverine or making silly accusations...We respect the other threads, we want respect too. You are always free to discuss something serious and civil, we said that more than once, but you only bring drama around.

I'll pm Chris right now and leave it up to him what's right or wrong.

The old one was a speculation thread over a single piece of concept art. This was intended to be the discussion thread for the actual character. I think the issue is that you're thinking in "our"'s and "us"'s, and that implies possession, that others are not welcome. A fan thread label would only cement that.

Think about it this way: No one is allowed to walk into the Alistair thread and criticise Alistair without being torn apart. But if they attempt to start a discussion page about him, it will be locked because one is already open. The fans took possession of it and no one dares enter.

Exactly what else are you going to name it? "Fenris' We Love His Orbs" thread? There is nothing wrong with being called a discussion thread--the only reason you'd change is would be for a carte blanche to not have to talk about him and to eject people who have not-so-kind opinions on him. Obviously you haven't gotten locked, so the content issue can't be it.

I don't think the Varric thread is salvagable, that's why. This one is. And it's already been named as such.

Exactly. You are acting like it's your thread. It's not. Not anymore than it is mine, or anyone else's. But again, and again, you attempt to imply ownership and make others feel unwelcomed. If you want to "own" something, go to a group, that's what they're there for.

It's not our thread (the fangirls' thread). It's everyone's thread. We had discussions on his VA, past, relationships and so on where anyone could join in. Yet people who join in, come only when there is drama in the air. And they start saying "Why are you drawing him like that? Why are you making inside jokes?".

Of course there is a different vibe here. Varric doesn't get drama. And not because he doesn't have any "haters", it's because they are civilized.

Because, you know, that's what fans do. They talk about the character.

The same way people asked if Aveline was based on Briana of Tarth (she's similar) and people asked if Isabela was based on Captain Jack (she's more an Han Solo.)

Nope, not really. Because the current name is servicable. Varric's thread is not named "Varric's fan thread". It's named "Varric & his chest hair".

Because this one is still a discussion thread. Varric one is not salvagable--and, to be honest, its nicer about it's blatant fan-ing. I don't go there, I don't post there, I don't even like Varric. But you girls here are rather antagonistic and cruel, to some of the nicest, smartest posters on this board. Not to trolls. To normal people with different opinions.

That is incredibly disingenuous. Don't backtrack now that you've said your "our"s and "we"s. You do think you own it. Unless you were implying you spoke for the whole board.

People only come in when there's drama because they want to voice their opinion that they don't like how this thread is so exclusive. Because they feel the same way. Because they don't feel welcomed otherwise.

I noticed this a few minutes ago: Hawke (at least mage) has fur on his/her armor. Fenris has feathers on his. This is very odd-- shouldn't Hawke have feathers, and Fenris have fur?

I think alot of it had to do with this: "Oh I don't like this thread because it's full of too much fangirling and cliqiuy-ness" I know lets derail the "official discussion" topic and discuss bad fanfic, suggestive things going into a trees mouth and Fenris looking like Q-bert.



I'd say the past couple of pages were a big convo between Saibh, Maria and Anarya , which bounced back and forth from being serious to joking around. Nobody came in and told you guys "omg go take all this to a group!" "This thread is nothing but fangirling! "



Granted I don't really approve of using the word "we" the regular posters here do the exact same thing you and the other girls(and some guys) were doing last night, yet you come all up in here and tell everyone there's too much fangirling and not enough seriousness business going on. Just seems really hypocritical is all.



Now I'm saying this in the most apathetic and non-hostile way possible, because I'm beyond tired of the arguing here and would like it to go back to being some semblance of normal. Like me and so many others have said you all can post whatever you want about Fenris, there's no clique, nobody is trying to isolate anyone, it's not ALL just fangirling all the time like people are so quick to say.



Most of us are just here more often and we talk amongst each other more often so there's gonna be a bond of some kind there.



Sorry if you can't feel like you can" enter the circle" so to speak but again nobody is actively saying no you can't. The reason the "older posters" are so hostile atm I'm assuming is because there's people coming in and accusing everyone of this that and the other and then turning around and doing what their accusing the thread of.



But I digress, I'm ready to go back to the tone of the thread before page 246 and see more awesome prompts please.

Since Fenris has lyrium coarsing through him. I can imagine a mage Hawke being thrusted into the Fade while Fenris is mid-thrust or upon release during intimacy. That would be one heck of a ride. Imagine love so powerful it sends you into another world.

Accidently clicked on this thread and saw this but... wut?

"Like it or GTFO" is exactly the reason I left, the hostility I recieved afterward only confirmed it. There's no place to discuss when you're not willing to let anybody discuss anything without telling them to you don't give a damn about their opinion. How is anybody supposed to have a discussion with this attitude being prominant?
