And, I'm going to say this bluntly, and I don't care if I ****** you off or offend you:

We don't give a damn about your opinion. We are happy as is-- if you dislike it, the exits are to the left, right, in front of you, behind you, above you, bellow you, in the other threads, and in the form of the power button on your computer.

Accidently clicked on this thread and saw this but... wut?

"Like it or GTFO" is exactly the reason I left, the hostility I recieved afterward only confirmed it. There's no place to discuss when you're not willing to let anybody discuss anything without telling them to you don't give a damn about their opinion. How is anybody supposed to have a discussion with this attitude being prominant?

I agree, there always is a "back off this is our thread" feeling around here... (altough I really like Fenris, to keep it on topicPosted Image)

I didn't say she had to GTFO if she disliked it. I said *sticks message through madness translator* she's welcome to leave if she dislikes it so much.  No one ever said it to you either, Mr. Dave of Canada. Personally, I'm sick of people going, "OMG, we can't have a serious discussion with the fangirls and fanboys" when in truth, no one is stopping you.

Needless hostility when things are discussed is what is stopping the discussion, anything said that's disliked is thrown out to the dogs and viciously attacked. There's even hostility amongst your "clique" (as I'll call it) when some people said they found Sebastian attractive and they were told to gtfo.

There's lots of needless hostility in this group, "fangirl/fanboys" or no. This is probably the most hostile thread on the Dragon Age 2 General Discussion, that's including all the people arguing semantics and PC / Console. Your attitude towards Saibh earlier was a "GTFO", you said you didn't give a damn about her opinion and she could leave. How is that not saying to "GTFO"?

... and adding this:

*sticks message through madness translator*

is just unnecessary. Lord knows why you did it aside from trying to do unnecessary hostility.

The hostility's kind of why I peaced out from the thread, too. I'm chill with Fenris, just not the warlgarbl that those who don't like him receive.

That would be fair for us, since our old topic was closed because of this one. The reason the other one got closed is because it didn't have the name Fenris written all over it (as we didn't know his name back then) and the OP didn't say "Hey! Here is the character's page!".

Varric and the others are allowed to have a fan thread and Fenris' doesn't? Why? Because you say so? Well we don't really care about your opinion as somebody already stated that. And if you read my idea for the thread's name, it didn't even contain the word "fan". We just want a place where to talk, draw and write dialogues without you guys barging in and comparing him to Wolverine or making silly accusations...We respect the other threads, we want respect too. You are always free to discuss something serious and civil, we said that more than once, but you only bring drama around.

I'll pm Chris right now and leave it up to him what's right or wrong.

Well, I didn't want to get back into this, but I think it might be this phrase that I've bolded that might be the cause of some of the issues.  If that is all that you want (talking, drawing and dialogues without others participating), then it might be better to have it primarily in a group and (I'd rather this not happen) have the thread locked down.  As a character thread, you should EXPECT to have outsiders or people who don't know much about Fenris enter the thread and try to have serious (or even silly) conversations about the character.  Im not saying don't talk to him or don't have dreamy thoughts or pictures of Fenris half-naked (personally, not a fan of opening threads and seeing a half-naked man, but that's just me), but Im saying that you have to expect to have others come into the thread and you have to realize how they might view thread regulars when they see something like that

With respect to the wolverine thing, I don't know if the guy came in trying to provoke something or not, but if he was someone coming in and thinking "oh, hey, this guy reminds me of wolverine, what do you think" and the thread attacks the guy ("oh, you're making such a superficial comparison and laughing at us" sort of things), it's not going to look good for the thread.  There have been times in the past 4 days when some have tried to have a serious conversation or pose serious questions, but have had the discussion drowned out or disregarded.  For example, Dave and Maria both were antagonized for the thread because they decided to make a comment on that (see, for example, pages 225-226), while some have been antagonistic towards me for my question about what sort of fantasy writers may have influenced the character.

If you want a thread where you can "talk, draw, and write dialogues without you guys bargin in," rather than requesting a name change for this thread, I would request that someone step up, PM a developer, and request permission to have a Fenris fan-art and discussion thread to go alongside this official thread.

Just remember, because you may have been talked about about Fenris, doesn't mean everyone else has.

Lovely drawing. :3

As tricky once said in a drawing..."Haters gonna hate!" This is a discussion thread (For discussing) so trolls obviously wouldn't be tolerated, but some do offer intelligent comments/speculations. I was (Still am) relatively new, but the "clique" (as some called them) accepted me, and anyone else that decided to post here.

Can we get back to Fenris? Kkthx

Since Fenris has lyrium coarsing through him. I can imagine a mage Hawke being thrusted into the Fade while Fenris is mid-thrust or upon release during intimacy. That would be one heck of a ride. Imagine love so powerful it sends you into another world.

EDIT: oh yeah... forgot to cover my ears for potential squee response to this potential random encounter...

Sounds good to me! I faved this on DA, I like how the artist was able to keep the mood despite everything being one color. Also it's nice to see people who draw men with nipples.

I'm going to intervene.

First off, nobody owns this thread. This is not a place to hang out, and treat others who come here as if they are visitors. You are all visitors, and attempting to control the discussion is just going to get you into trouble.

If someone wants to talk about Fenris, then they may do so. If someone wants to complain about him, then they may do so. If someone wants to squee and post fan art, then they may do so. In all three cases all we ask is that you remain civil to each other.

If the venom that's persisted over the last few pages continues, I'll lock the thread down. If you feel you cannot participate without keeping a civil tongue, even with those you disagree, then I suggest you remove yourself voluntarily.

Thanks.

Off topic - Dave, you left us hanging with the moral choice (do we have to wait until next thursday?)

On-topic, thinking about the "Wolverine" comparison that was brought up (and knocked down) earlier, I do get a bit of a Marvel vibe from Fenris, but I get more of a Northstar vibe (personality and looks wise) than Wolverine...Go Alpha Flight! :)

Random question:
Do you think he would have big hands? I mean, that awesome strong, manly hands with deliciously long fingers?

I don't get any vibes from him because all I've seen are 4 images. I'd like to hear him and see him in action before I can decide what he reminds me of.

The Wolverine comparison isn't as bad as it was made out to be, Wolverine was took and made a weapon by being infused with the steel thingy (I forget what it's called, never a big comic book buff). Fenris is the same thing but with lyrium, though I don't want to imagine lyrium claws coming out of his hands and slashing people causing them brain damage or something.

I think the reason that even got shot down in the first place was because the guy/girl who posted it had it laden with sarcasm and was implying that Fen was a direct rip off and not an original idea. When you can't even really deduce that since all we have on him is a blurb and like 3 pictures.

Were people really getting on each other over a Wolverine comparison? Thats just asinine..
I can sort of get where the person was going with this though.. Living weapon.. Infused with a powerful element..
But yeah as long as he doesn't suddenly grow claws I'm good..

This. And yes, she's marvelous in keeping the mood in a drawing. She had already done quite a number of pics with smexy Zevran (come to think about it, when Zevran isn't smexy?) and from that, if she's going to do more of the Fenris ones, I'm all into stalking her. <3
