Well, I didn't want to get back into this, but I think it might be this phrase that I've bolded that might be the cause of some of the issues. If that is all that you want (talking, drawing and dialogues without others participating), then it might be better to have it primarily in a group and (I'd rather this not happen) have the thread locked down. As a character thread, you should EXPECT to have outsiders or people who don't know much about Fenris enter the thread and try to have serious (or even silly) conversations about the character. Im not saying don't talk to him or don't have dreamy thoughts or pictures of Fenris half-naked (personally, not a fan of opening threads and seeing a half-naked man, but that's just me), but Im saying that you have to expect to have others come into the thread and you have to realize how they might view thread regulars when they see something like that
With respect to the wolverine thing, I don't know if the guy came in trying to provoke something or not, but if he was someone coming in and thinking "oh, hey, this guy reminds me of wolverine, what do you think" and the thread attacks the guy ("oh, you're making such a superficial comparison and laughing at us" sort of things), it's not going to look good for the thread. There have been times in the past 4 days when some have tried to have a serious conversation or pose serious questions, but have had the discussion drowned out or disregarded. For example, Dave and Maria both were antagonized for the thread because they decided to make a comment on that (see, for example, pages 225-226), while some have been antagonistic towards me for my question about what sort of fantasy writers may have influenced the character.
If you want a thread where you can "talk, draw, and write dialogues without you guys bargin in," rather than requesting a name change for this thread, I would request that someone step up, PM a developer, and request permission to have a Fenris fan-art and discussion thread to go alongside this official thread.
Just remember, because you may have been talked about about Fenris, doesn't mean everyone else has.
Well said!
Now let's get on discussing Fenris, whether it be serious, silly or just amusing.

Wow. Where is the love? It's a fan thread guys, not the Cult of Fenris. I love it when people come in with opposing viewpoints because ideally it can get some interesting, mature debate and discussion going on, all the fangirling can get a little boring after a while. That kind of hostile reaction is not productive, especially since we barely even know anything about Fen to begin with. There's no reason to get so defensive of a character we don't know. I for one am perfectly open to the possibility of totally despising him once we actually meet the guy. Gaider said it best, everyone gets a piece of the action no matter what their opinion of the character might be. Civil war = no good!

In fewer words: Make Love, Not War.
Ok, but back to Fenris, I really wanted to know your answers to my question about Fenris' hands!

I'm going to intervene.
First off, nobody owns this thread. This is not a place to hang out, and treat others who come here as if they are visitors. You are all visitors, and attempting to control the discussion is just going to get you into trouble.
If someone wants to talk about Fenris, then they may do so. If someone wants to complain about him, then they may do so. If someone wants to squee and post fan art, then they may do so. In all three cases all we ask is that you remain civil to each other.
If the venom that's persisted over the last few pages continues, I'll lock the thread down. If you feel you cannot participate without keeping a civil tongue, even with those you disagree, then I suggest you remove yourself voluntarily.
Thanks.
Lovely!
Have I told you I love you? Arh...I can start now, can't I?

How many hours do you guys think it'll be, starting from 12am March 8, before the first person here beats the game and reports back to the thread to
And how many of you guys only plan on discussing Fenris once you've finished your first playthrough? I think most of us will to avoid spoilers
But I imagine there might be a few who will take breaks from playing in order to stop by and "OMG/Squee!" over something that just happened in their game involving Fenris.

This. From now on, I'm going to try avoid spoilers. The only two spoilers around Fenris that I'll be open to hearing before release is his VA and possible romance confirmation, though somehow I don't see it coming. The rest, I want to be a sweet surprise.

Heh, such is the nature of character threads. But he doesn't have to be a romance option to be squee'd over; the characters I went gaga over the most in BioWare games weren't romanceable.

Well, last time, some people here took immense offense to it. But since Gaider laid down the law, I was wondering. Also, that was a joke within itself.

Oh? I don't remember that. I guess I have conflict goggles - I didn't even know there were hard feelings around this thread until a day or two ago. Ah, well, bygones be bygones and all that.
Also, I know.

Yeah this is why like the week before and a few weeks after I probably won't be here. The week before because some people find ways to get the game early. And even stopping to take breaks to squee can result in spoilers becuase not everyone will be in the same spots. So I'll post when I'm done with my playthrough. It's a shame this board doesn't have spoiler tags or drop down boxes or something.

I will also not be on here about a week before the game comes out. I also wont be on here until I finish my first playthrough.

I don't really mind spoilers unless they spoil the ending or major story points. Once the ending gets spoiled for me, I tend to lose interest in playing. But, I don't mind character spoilers. I delayed in getting DAO just to find out a few things from the forums.
For Fenris and a few others, I will be lurking around for information that may effect gameplay.
