@ Dr. Doctor, yes, the Greek Stoicism is what I had in mind too.
I like Loghain too, especially after reading The Stolen Throne :'(

Me too.  Actually,  I didn't care for him much until I read that book and was motivated to turn him into a grey warden.   Happinness ensued.

He was both an excellent villain, but also at the same time a really tragic character.
I read the novel too so when I met him in-game this happened

Yes. I loathed him before I read the book. Then I read the book and when I played my second playthrough I noticed how sad he looked.

How do you think a sibling would react if they caught Fen checking out Fem!Hawke?

Carver: Fenris, if you break her heart I will make what the Magister did to you seem like a tea party.

On the other hand, with Bethany:

Isabela:
So what's being with Fenris?

Hawke: (smiling) It's great, he's really sweet.

Isabela: What about all that glowing lyrium? That glow must make it hard to sleep.

Hawke: (still smiling) I couldn't tell you we haven't been sleeping much lately.

(the conversation is suddenly interupted when a tree alongside the road explodes in a mighty fireball)

Hawke: Bethany, what's wrong?

Bethany: Nothing. (continues to walk along muttering under her breath)

Okay guys, new VA theory.

I was watching Queen of the Damned (I know, it's terrible but I was bored and it's on my iTouch) and Stuart Townsend's voice is really nice. Possibly. I am also not basing my theories on whether I think person in question is good looking, but how they sound.

His narration at the beginning was really smooth and lovely. Possibility? Hrmmm.

It was said somewhere that the VA has actually been in a couple popular RPG games, so I don't think it could be Stuart....unless Ser Gaider is trying to thow us off.

I adored that movie. And I love the book even more!

As we discuss way back, Ann Rice wrote the best vampires!:wub::wub::wub::wub:

Oh, yeah, Stuart is indeed a very good VA option for Fenris.

@Tank, I really liked the Interview with a Vampire movie, so I was really excited for the Queen of the Damned movie, then had a big let down.

I do have the movie though, so let me check that voice

Do I not remember Gaider saying that the thing with touch causing Fenris pain is in the game, but that it isn't really played up that much?

So, if that's the case, it seems awfully unlikely that he could be a love interest for either sex, right? If he were, the whole touch-me-not thing would have to be a much bigger deal.

(Or I guess they could play it as a hurts-so-good thing, but either way it would be center stage in the romance.)

So Townsends voice... It sounds almost right to me. Almost. Maybe it's because he is trying to talk like a vampire that throws me off.

@distinuetraces, it's an aversion, yes, but Mr. Gaider said it's not too big of a deal

You know what, I'll be pleased with any VA that Bioware chooses. But I do hope that Ser Gaider is the voice/likeness of the Magister.

Talk about meeting your maker.

*comes out of hiding* For some reason, I've got him pegged with Kaidan's VA (Raphael Sbarge) from ME. I don't know why, I'm not especially fond of him (Kaidan), but there's my guess! *re-lurks*

I think that he said it was more of a "Aah I don't like this do not touch me" than a "Oow that hurts don't touch me."
I'll try to find the quote. But yes he did say it wasn't really a big deal.

David Gaider wrote...

In response to a few questions I've seen in the past few pages:

*
Fenris has an accent. It's a bit unusual, but I'm not going to say what
it is or you're likely to pinpoint his VA in about 30 seconds. And we
can't have that.

* I wouldn't make too big a deal of his
touch-causes-pain thing. It's more of an aversion than actual physical
agony. You'll see when you play, though honestly he doesn't dwell on it
at all. It's not central to his story.

* Regardless of what his
story involves, I'm sure you'll find Fenris fun. Just like Varric. Let's
all just get along and not stake out imaginary territory, shall we?
That would be swell.

Please not Kaidan's voice. I would see Kaidan everytime he talked and not Fenris.

Auuugh no please no. I don't exactly hate Sbarge's voice but it's not my favorite and I really don't think it fits Fen.

He is totally going to have a Transylvanian accent. Just to be out there.

Also in reply to Raphael Sbarge, I dunno if bioware would use him again anytime soon. He was both the main lover interest in KOTOR as Carth and then the main love interest in Mass effect as Kaiden. I also have to agree that it's not that I don't like his voice, it's just that every time I heard Kaiden speak I saw Carth.
I think there was a video or post recently talking about DA2 where someone said "We don't tend to use main voice actors over, however in some cases like Carth and Kaiden we felt it just fits the character" So I wouldn't bet on too many voice repeats. However I don't know any more about the game than you do so I could be completley wrong ;)

Just some random thoughts I had:
If Fenris has lyrium infused blood (and given what we know about it, that it makes people go a bit insane if used for prolonged periods), I wonder if he would have bouts of psychosis.Or maybe his master fixed that? What if when he has these episodes, he thinks he's a wolf (going by his name).I don't know if this has been discussed already.I haven't been keeping up with the thread.

On another note; I'm diggin his look.I like the piercing green eyes.Only time will tell whether or not I like him. Can't wait to find out!

Yeah I'm not to sure about the wolf thing lol, but the insanity bit could be played up pretty nicely though it would add to the already depressing backstory we're presented with

I've been wondering how Fenris might act towards Hawke if he or she is a mage. Wrote up a little something... I can post the whole thing here if y'all want. I'll just provide the link for now.
