I think... that as a twist... EVERYONE is a LI.
Oh what it would do to the boards!
ME1: 3 li
DA1: 4 li
ME2: 6 (Technically 9)
DA2: 7!

:P But in all seriousness we'll probably get two of each gender.

You know, they should just make "Bioware: the dating sim" and start telling people if they want a romance simulator, play that game...if they want a good game that may (or may not) have romances, then play game X (be it ME or DA or whatever :) and be surprised with any and all relationships :)

Hey, shoo Posted Image Lets just not go there with the whole dating sim anti romance thing.

Agree. I'm rather particular about dialogues and fanfictions blah blah. I didn't think it was that bad. Not to warrant the emo tag, but hey.

I would try my own hand at one since the non-lustful wallpin was my rambling answer to that question, but I don't feel I know Fenris well enough to even remotely do him justice. Now once it comes out, I might be tempted to do a drabble over it. If I am not still working on my Avatar fic at the time. :P

I didn't think it was bad at all either. I thought it was very sweet. At this point we don't really have a "real Fenris" so anyone's interpretation is as good as the next. I feel the same way. I go "Oh man! What if this happe- oh wait he wouldn't do that..."

EDIT: Also fangirl, I don't think he was being entirley sarcastic. He's saying that if people love the romance, then make a game more centered around it and have seperate games focused around combat/story that may feature a few relationships. Feel free to correct me if I am putting false words into your mouth ;)

I see nothing wrong with it being a little emotional. I could imagine that having feelings for/love someone would make him feel very vulnerable (according to my imagined version of Fen's personality).

And I really need some sleep now so goodnight everyone Posted Image.

Well, even Valen seemed rather uncertain and tentative about his confession in HotU. And he was a big, strong tiefling who could tear people apart. But when it came to love, he wasn't very sure of his reception, because of what he viewed as 'faults' with himself.

With Gaider saying whatever that was about Fenris and Valen, I am inclined to think the two of them might have at least a somewhat similar uncertainty in romance, that would lend itself to a scene like Madame's.

But that's the opinion of one lurker that only pokes her head out now and again. :P

In my opinion, romances don't have a lot of impact unless they occur in a context. That's why almost every action movie ever made has the hero getting the girl. Fantasy is fantasy, and romance being a part of adventure is a part of that. As I once said in an interview, we throw out many hooks on the off chance that one of them will stick and make the player care about something... rromances work for some, not for others. If you don't care about something, then we've failed. If we segregate out things to care about simply because others claim not to buy into it, then all we're really doing is reducing the number of hooks in our toolbox.

So, no, I don't think that's a good idea. Even if I could get behind the idea of doing a game where romances did take center stage. Considering the massive sales that "casual" games like the Sims get, wouldn't it be a shock to the self-proclaimed "elite RPG" demographic to find themselves taking third place behind not only the "console action" crowd but the so-called "gamer girls" as well?

I don't think any demographic can be summed up quite so neatly, but can you imagine? Perish the thought. ;)

The second sentence was the key one, not the first...My essential point (which obviously was lost) was that people should stop going "X is revealed, can we bang X?" sort of thing and enjoy any and all surprises.  Not anti-romance at all, simply suggesting that surprise is the spice of life :)

Edit:  Did mean to ask, what was my prize for winning the internets and how long will it take to get here?

That does make sense. It would be like making a game where you live out your life with a fake family. You would have no connection to the family unless something happens story wise. I think thats why "dating sims" are so lulzy half the time is because they try to get you to connect to the characters through pure visual appeal.
But if you throw too many hooks out then the player will be smotherd and will detach from everything. Like in Fable 3, you can marry anyone so I had no connection to my wife. (Lesbian queen for the win)

More or less...Just a (half-joking) suggestion that bioware make the dating sim game so that we don't have all these "oh, is X romanceable" threads going around.  Like I said, Im not anti-romance, but surprise is the spice of life :)

Yeah, I knew you weren't all "BLARG I HATE EVERYTHING YOU LIKE" :P Like David brought up, it is just a way to connect to the player, and it can be overdone. But you are right, it is always nice to find out a character is interested in you while playing the game. I did that for Mass Effect. It did help the experience.
