Notice there is pretty much not enough male for you to play with? That explain why Fenris is popular....arh...right?

Hah, I love that Seb and Fen are still broody and little Merrill is all d'aw-like and cute.

Er, I mean *adjusts monocle* jolly good piece of art, I say.

Why is this character so popular compared to the others

So I thought I'd go off on a rant about this. Well, less of a rant and more of a very long winded explanation.

First of all, let's look at Bioware's track record of very appealing male characters shall we? In DA:O we had Zevran and Alistair. While the two were very different, Bioware stuck to the same basic principle of the sweet guy and more of a bad boy type. Alistair had great hair and Zevran had great lines that cracked you up. Somehow, Bioware (Or should I say David Gaider) knew just what to write to make you swoon. Plus, the characters were also physically attractive - as much as you can get for being a video game character. Heck, I think even some of the guys fell head over heels for one of them. (So to speak.) And then we had Garrus, Joker (Hey, a girl can dream can't she?), Thane and now Fenris.

You have to admit that emo type hair is pretty sexy and those green eyes are something else with the white of his hair. Also, he has an intriguing past - I mean a tragic previous elf slave with lyrium burned into his skin and no memories and an innate need to flinch when you try to touch him? I think every fangirls heart stopped beating when they heard that story. It's every fangirls dream, pretty much. Well, some of us. Everyone in this forum.

Anyway, I don't know if that helped or not but okay.

I felt strangely attracted to Zevran's personality... that almost made me think i'm bisexual, but I've never been attracted to any man. We're talking about being attracted to video game characters -_-

So his past appeals to the "fixer" in you women huh? I wonder if him being Elven has anything to do with it.

Women & girls, what do you think of the attractiveness of MaleHawke?

@BSB: Pfft you don't think this thread had it's nice share of folks sippin some haterade? lol But no I don't think he's more popular than any other character, I think it's just because we talk more in here, it's usually just the same group of folks talking about him with a new person coming in every once in awhile. Or someone coming in trying to ruffle the feathers by saying "LOL it's gonna be SO funny if he no LI BWHAAA."

He's averaging TEN PAGES A DAY!  Merrill is averaging THIRTY PAGES A DAY!   Taking away the fact that Merrill is new (and a mage), which does help prop up the volume, the common denominator is the fact that they're both elves.  I do know that some of the volume here does have to do with haters, but I think the volume with Merrill (early on) had to do a lot with the perceived change from the first to the second game (similar to what happened in a number of Isabela threads).  This time I don't mean it as starting anything, but I do really believe that a lot of his popularity (I'd say he's in the top two of popular characters right now) is the fact that he's an elf...

Lol I guess. Like someone said a few pages back if you took away all the mini drama that this place has circulated there wouldn't be nearly as many pages lol. Him being an elf might be the reason, but I think it's mainly because he's attractive,  I personally like eye candy I don't really care what race he or she is lol I would assume that if the next companion isn't Anders and is someone hot the same thing is gonna happen.

Well it's true that men are not really into elves. They are not considered manly because of their inability to grow body hair...and because they are slender, androgynous. Stiil, girls like them because they are mystical, they are beautiful in a unique way.Yet they are so human, they appear so natural and alive. You can teleport one into RL anyday.

I remember the days when i played WoW as an elf...everyone was like "Tree hugger!"

Yeah I'm not trying to start anything, that's just what I've seen happen a whole lot.

@Someguy: MHawke would look better if he didn't have the 30 year old Duncan beard. But that's just me. When I played Origins I went through as a male first and created him to look like what personally appeals to me. Needless to say I'm a fangirl for my own Warden but he's not an elf he's a human.

I think MaleHawke is totally hot. I like the rugged look. But I also like Fenris as well. My tastes vary.

While the question of Fenris' popularity is still fresh, I'll post what I personally found attractive about him.

Yes, the looks are part of that. I thought he had a good piece of concept art, and two awesome screenshots. But what initially hooked me was not ZOMGHAWT (because let's face it, pretty much every character revealed has been good looking) or ZOMGELF - I've seen a few too many pretty elves before to be attracted to every one that floats onto my computer screen - it was those damn lyrium markings.

I wanted to know what the hell they were. Once I found out, I wanted to know exactly how he got them - when he got them, how it was done, why it was done, if he even remembers it happening. I wanted - and still want - to know what exactly he's used as a weapon for. As someone with a moderate interest in the human (elven?) psyche, I want to know how his mind works after all that. Also, his little character blurb on the DA2 site is one of the shorter ones, and reveals little about his actual personality traits compared to the others. We haven't heard his voice yet, either, so I've been pondering about that. I also have no desire to play a Hawke that would 'fix' him as a person, though I understand why some would.

His story's just interesting to me, and it would be whether he was human or dwarven, too. It's that interest, mixed with some pixel-physical attractiveness, that's made me a fan.

Does Fenris hate eye contact or something? If he's so furious you think he would stare Aveline down.

Well he was up untill recently(before you meet him in game I'm assuming)  a slave, so yeah he probably spent alot of his time being told what his place was and  looked down and away from people

Funny you should say that Poison because I was gonna edit my earlier post and add it was also because he was enigmatic,  and yeah sure he's attractive but it's in his own way. He's not even particuarly a  pretty "IT"  boy like I said however many pages ago, I just think too many people are caught up on his hair (being white and "emo" or whatever) His face is pretty haggarded and stressed (with good reason),  and he's not the most the most built guy either so  I dunno where the sentiment is coming from honestly. Maybe it's the fanart as I've seen myself and others romantcize his looks (I.e erasing the stress under his eyes and giving him a bit more bulk) also since I love long hair on men I tend to give some length to his hair that's not there :P
