Bah, I know right? Funny how getting one question answered raises five hundred more. Not that I'm complaining we got a question answered, of course.

I thought meditation-like comments would be like tactical advices or something:
"Move more to the right for more damage", "Use it's slowness against it" etc
you get the point

In Fen-related news, The Grand Poobah saying that Fenris will occasionally 'break into meditation-like comments on the fight' piqued my interest. Is this a method of fighting encouraged by the magister? Was it a coping mechanism he used in his early days that stuck with him? Does he do other things that could be considered 'meditiation-like', such as... meditating? I MUST HAVE ANSWERS.

I was thinking about that, too. Perhaps his time as a slave has made him vindictive and hateful? Or perhaps all that lyrium in his system has made his personality unstable? Maybe his meditation-like battle comments are his way of keeping himself in-check so he doesn't go berserker mode.

Lol Thanks guys, chibi's are so fun and easy XD. Also I fixed the transparency on my post so it looks less...umm crappy. Speaking of a Japanese art style, I'm almost tempted to a "What if" and JRPGize some of the looks of the DA characters, in Fenris' case he really WOULD be pretty then.

He would be enveloped in a pink, sparkly, flower-fuelled haze. And I would throw up. Then nosebleed. Drool. Dehydrate. Die.

I love me some prettyboy.

*Is having scaring images of Fenris saying, "Confucius says..." whenever he goes into combat.*

O_O

*Takes a drink of soda and goes back to lurking under table*

=Edit=

I saw when someone made the male Awakening companions into serious anime style... Nathaniel was pretty, and Anders was... scary...

I'd imagine if he went through the Sqaure Enix machine, he'd have longer hair, wear lots of black, and of course wear more belts than is humanly nessecary. Personality wise he's already got the template for your typical JRPG hero, stoic, brooding etc

Yeah, I considered that. This possibility makes me think he might be a lot more broody/stoic than we think, but also very observant, tactical and possibly resourceful. Which isn't a bad thing.

That's quite interesting, actually. Maybe his specialization has something to do with drawing the power from all that lyrium, and the power of it is so great that he learned to use meditation to stop it from going out of control? Ooh, maybe the first time he tried to harness that power it overwhelmed him, and he ended up killing a bunch of people/injuring himself, so the magister made him learn some techniques to control it. /wild mass guessing.

I shudder at the thought of putting anything Bioware through the Square Enix machines. It would be sacrilege. Not that I dislike Square Enix, but Bioware are by far superior in every way.

You see, SE can't do anything without exaggerating it to a point of being beyond unrealistic. A character like Fenris would be so sheltered and cool he'd blow minds by breathing. I prefer the more sensible, and more human-like personality moulds we get from Bioware.

@Fenris: Yeah I see what you mean, especially these days sure their games are pretty but it's lacking..a soul lol. Still though I'd actually like to see a J x W RPG mix someday not necessarily Bioware and Enix but in general.

EDIT: I also like that theory Poison B)

@Tricky, I concur. It would be a fascinating mash-up of video-game cultures, if done properly.

Fenris primarily swears in Tevinter, but occasionally will break into meditation-like comments on the fight. He's one of the few soundsets that never actually yells during combat.

Thank you for that wonderful insight.

Wow, the candle flame looks really good! Very realistic.

I wonder if this is at Fenris' home base. He seems to be in a poor part of town, based on the rough wooden table.

Edit: nevermind, you can't see that much of the table. For some reason I thought there was more to the table.. But I'm remembering from the full Dev Diary. Maybe I'll watch it again to confirm.

Awesome! New information, new art, new stories. Now I have to catch up.

Actually, I really do appreciate the DA team taking the time to give small insights on the game and the characters on this forum.

It is often taken for granted but it is rare and it brings me back to the days of newsgroup "rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated" where JM Straczynski would stop by and chat with fans of the show about the writing and production process.

Wow, you guys are just as bad as me! I spend FOREVER trying to make my character look how I want her.....which is usually to look like me, so then I feel I am actually in the game. I've always been hindered in Mass Effect and DA:O (lack of rounded chin options that don't look squared, a nose that doesn't curve up or down and has a rounded tip, curly hair that doesn't look scraggly, darkish brown hair that has twinges of red in the sunlight, moles, etc.)
Apparently, the traditional Sexy Hip Wiggle dance worked!:o

I'd just like to drop in and say that I don't think I'm going to get a good night's sleep until we find out what Fenris's accent is. It's driving me absolutely CRAZY!

Yeah, I'm the same way maybe it's a chick thing lol. I would hate being satisfied with my characters face in the CC screen then in-game with different lighting and stuff they looked stupid , Oblivion was pretty bad about that too, and boy were those models EVER ugly *shudder* hope Skyrim fixes that.  As for DA2 I hear there's a pre-order bonus  that comes with a mirror or something where you can change your character's appearance after the CC screen?  If that's the case consider me extra happy, I await to make my chocolate Hawkette, it'll also be nice that my family will be black too! Human Noble story I'm lookin at you <_<. Granted I have no problem playing a Caucasian character (that's just kinda how things are I guess) I'm just glad I have the option, especially on the black female thing since you don't see many in videogames, especially RPG's.

*stands up* Hi. My name is Milo and I'm a Fen-oholic. *sits down*. I feel as though, after reading all 300+ pages, that I should finally post something and contribute.

I think that one of the first things I will be doing when I get Fenris in my team will be to unequip his clothes (if it's possible) and see exactly what his tattoos look like on his chest, back, legs etc... (and also to see how unnappy-ish the new underwear looks lol).

If this isn't possible (and even if it is ;D) I'm hoping that Fenris' possible love scene with the lovely Hawke will involve his tattoos somehow. I can see it playing out with a shirtless Fenris, with Hawke tentively tracing the tattoos along his chest, with a thoughtful/sad look on her face.....and then many more clothes follow Fenris' shirt ;D.

I just think that, considering the new cinematic approach and the whole Isabela leaping on male Hawke, there should be more unique and special love scenes that reflect the characters' personalities. I can't say that I'll miss the awkward nappy underwear and blank zombie faces from DA:O's love scenes.

I think the mirror of transformation is a really good idea, I mean who looks exactly the same for 10 years (not talking about normal aging here.)

That makes me wonder, will Hawke and the companions age during the game, just very subtle so you don't really see it until you compare screenshots of year 1 with year 10?

lmao nappy underwear, in my Lyrium Branding picture I was gonna put those on Fenris but...god they just looked so stupid.  But yeah I could see Fenris' potential love scene playing out that way all sensual like. I hope there's better love making music too, like I always  thought Leliana's song (or the kissing music) was more appropriate for that, then the short chanting song that plays during the montage lol

I just got a Game Informer and the main article was TESV: Skyrim. I saw a lady in one of the pictures and I squeed because she actually looked nice.

About the mirror; it comes in the Black Emporium DLC. The Mirror of Transformation or Transfiguration or something.... ooh, here's the link to the pre-order page; it talks about the Mirror.

You know... that could bring up some funny dialogue.
