Heh...hehehe. Hey guys, remember when everyone was flipping out on the Fenris concept art and trying to figure out if he had stubble or not?

No, it doesn't matter but I get tired of the "he's an elf, so he's bi" crap all the time

And I'm sure others are tired of the "He's an elf; it'd be too much like Zevran," sentiment all the time.

Both sentiments are frustrating though. There's more to a character than whether or not he's an elf, peeps.

Yes, but as I said earlier, if they keep it up, they're going to end up typecasting their own race. The male-elf-of-the-party  will become almost expected to be the bi option, and that's just a bit on the stupid side. I have no problem with them making someone in this game bi. I just don't think it wise to start a sort of pattern. Because you know how speculators get, and when DA3 is being announced, whoever is the male elf in the party will become expected to be a bi option. I don't like predictability.

It's got nothing to do with him matching Zevran in personality (for me at least) and everything to do with me wanting to avoid stereotypes in future party members.

I can understand that somewhat, then.

Stereotyping and predictability are both terrible in their own ways, but I don't think it's fair to go by that trope. As I said, there's more to a character than whether or not they're an elf, and I'm sure many people realize that.

To me, stereotyping and predictability would be if Fenris was exactly like Zevran in regards to personality and romance. If Fenris turns out to be an LI, and if he turns out to be bisexual, I'm confident enough in Bioware's writing and delivery in that the only parallels that someone could draw between Zevran and Fenris is that they both happen to be bisexual male elves. Perhaps in the similar sense that both Alistair and Anders were straight, blonde human men.

If Fenris and our final companion aren't romancible to both genders then that leaves Varric and that would be hilarious and unexpected

What about that mage-dude that looks like Anders? Orsino?

That is why I said "Fenrir Fenris and our Final companion" and I dont know if thats Orsino but he sure as hell does looks like Anders

I know, I edited. Sorry about that, dude.

This just keeps coming up doesn't it? Being BI doesn't automatically turn you into Zevran. Even if he is bi, he'll be very different I think.

I never said it does; I don't think being bi automatically turns you into anything at all. If I gave that impression, than I am sorry.

We were still in the Meg thread, weren't we? Oh, nostalgia... *singletear*

You know, I've been really interested in this question: Which companions do you think Fenris will befriend/dislike and why?

That's a good one kwintessa! From the brief little exchanges between companions that Gaider has posted in this thread, I'd say Fenris and Isabela are going to have some...interesting banter with each other. I'm so looking forward to this aspect of the game!!!

"Put some pants on woman" is still my favorite unofficial Fen banter.

I wasn't aware anyone was debating. I'm not remotely that bothered, was just throwing it out there. Bioware's going to do whatever Bioware's going to do. I tend to take a very Schrodinger's Cat approach to these things anyway. :P

(slow to reply and all, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite ftw. Rajang is mean)

Wasn't trying to insinuate anything, I just know what that kind of discussion can lead to and how heated it can get. I just want everyone to get along. Nothin but love in the Fenris thread y'all Posted Image

I'm sticking with my theory that Fenris is going to be a social nightmare, easily exploited by companions and generally distrustful of anything anyone says (other than Hawke, though).

Yeah, that can be an iffy subject, so I guess it may be best to leave it where it lies. *goes back to lurking between monster slaying*

Uh...I don't think so

A lot of people were getting all in an uproar because elves are traditionally unable to grow any sort of facial hair. It was this whole big to-do, but I'm pretty sure someone confirmed that he doesn't.

I'm glad, too. I might get slain for this, after all the love for MaleHawke beard, but I dislike facial hair. Or hair on a body in general. The only hair on a man that doesn't bug me would be on the legs. Elsewhere it just kind of icks me out.

Fenris stubble would be bleh.

I'm pretty glad for it too, mostly because of the same reasons as Ex-Paladin. I got used to elves not being able to have facial hair in DAO; I'd get a nasty eye-twitch if they suddenly developed the ability.
