I was a total **** to Cailan in Ostagar when I played as the Dalish elf, but he just took it in stride. It made me angrier...
I did that too, except I wasn't angry. I was laughing when Duncan was all offended and Cailan was all, "Whatever, you're still epic cool!"
Cailan never really got upset no matter what I told him expect when I played CityElf and killed that guy. Then Cailan was just shocked lol. I really dont think he was all that bright.
I think I laughed for a good five minutes after Cailan's response. It's the only time I've seen him lose his composure.

Yeah that was my favorite thing to say to Cailan just because he was like "Wha?"

I think I misspoke a bit a ago when I said he wasnt bright. Its not that he's stupid its just he doesnt take things seriously(You being mean to him, the blight, etc..)

My Leanne Hawke is going to be a rogue, since the insane number of locked chests in DA:O made me pull at my hair when I was a mage or warrior. I'll admit: I tend to play with my own personallity on the first playthrough, and then I change it and do things I really wanted to do first time round. That means I'm going to be insanely protective of friends/family/party members, and I'll make the "right" choices, if there really is such a thing as a right choice.

Second playthrough, I'll be a mage, definitely. I'll actually be really disappointed if there isn't some friction between Fenris and mage!Hawke. With all that he's gone through, I think it would really odd if he wasn't nervous/suspicious/untrusting/ect of any mage. That would just feel weird to me. Anyone else agree?

Yeah I hope that mage!Hawke and Fenis have iusses, it'll make the romance that much more intresting. I'll also kinda selfinsert with my frist playthrough, tho I'll probably play as a amge.

I do 100%. Currently I'm planning on a sarcastic mage who smarts off all the time but loves her family (and Fenris muhaha). This may lead to the coveted rivalmance.B) But this has the means to change. I'll most likely play whatever I feel like in March.

I just had the best idea ever. What if Fem!Hawke being a mage automatically led to a rivalry?

Well, considering that so many lurkers have decided to reveal themselves, I suppose it is only fair for me to do the same.

For my contribution with a question, I am curious of what Ser Gaider's answer would be to what Fenris' favorite drink is. During his time as a slave to the Magister, I highly doubt he drank anything other than water. . . and I assume he did not have that very often, either. (For both physical and psychological means of control--to "break," I suppose.)

If that is true, I doubt he has had any alcohol, at least for a very long time. And so that raises the question of his alcohol tolerance.

And then, what kind of drunk would he be?

On a completely different note:

I am blaming this thread for making me fall in love with Valen. A few of you brought him up a while back and, out of curiosity, I looked him up.

. . . I regret it, and yet I am completely grateful. I need to go buy Neverwinter Nights now so I may play it myself, rather than sufficing with fan-fiction.

Avalia Pamunalis, specifically the 9:27 vintage.

It was a good year.

Here ya go!

My Lady Hawke is definitely going to be somekind of smart-ass mage, who will flirt with anyone worth flirting...But she'll also be overly-protective with her little brother...

...One of the reasons why I want to try the Rivalmance is because I really want to see how Fenris would react to my Fem!Hawke's teasing XDD....

@Lleyta Black: ...Hmmm, good point about the Mage!Hawke...I could see it happening in-game simply because Fenris has had a bad experience with mages...It would be complicated to gain his trust if you play as a mage then :/

That would be interesting, and it also makes complete sense. I know I wouldn't trust a mage as far as I could throw them if I were in his shoes (or not, since he doesn't wear shoes ^_^).

Just thinking of the friendship/rivalry system... would it be like the ME Paragon/Renegade system, where you earn points in both, or would it be the arbitrary 'once you go down one path, that's it til the end'?

Aah, I remember that now. It slipped my mind at the moment, however.
I'm sorry for asking a question that had already been answered.

But still, thank you kindly, Madam.

I wouldn't care. It'd be realistic though.

The relationship could possibly be something like one of my favorite books I read. The main character and the guy she ends up with have a rivalmance at the start (the guy literally says that they should throw her off the walls of his mother's estate, and then later attacks her), despite the fact that you learn later on that the main character saved his life before the events of the book (although no one was aware of this but the main character and 1-2 others up until it's revealed). They end up sort of being forced to get along, and they begin to develop a friendship that grows to the point they trust each other. By the end, it's a really strong, sweet romantic relationship.

/delurks. . . again. For the last time.

Haha, I plan on it. The only trouble is actually finding it, sadly.
Alas, I shall continue my hunt.

Same thing happened to me. Good Old Games has it for only $10. :D So I picked it up about a week ago. Only played HotU because I really wanted to see Valen for myself. It's a great campaign. I haven't tried the others yet, but HotU alone is worth the $10.

To another point I wanted to make:

If being a mage was the only thing I needed to induce a rivalry, I'd go for it. But if inducing rivalry means I have to play a somewhat mean or uncaring femHawke, I would not. Or it would be very difficult and wouldn't happen on my first playthrough.

I'm super late in joining this thread, but I've got a question that I'm hoping someone here can answer.
Does it look to you guys like they've given elves a size re-vamp for DA2? I noticed while watching a trailer today that Fenris looked as tall as the humans. This gets me all asqueel, since I dislike the idea of my femHawke towering over her LI. <3

the males may be the same height as human females but i dont think they would be taller. same gender versus their human counterparts i'm pretty sure are shorter

Hmm... I was just going to tell you, but now you're going to make it a fun guessing game.

No. This book released in 2009 (A little less then a month before Origins, actually). The series its part of (I didn't know it was a series until about two months ago) and the author aren't very well-known because both have a fanbase that's strong, but not large.

Hint 1: On my DevArt account, my signature has the name of my Origins/Awakening character, Fire Amell. Pyromania was not the only inspiration for her name.

Is that Fire by Kristin Cashore?  She also wrote Graceling.
