I'd definitely support a Fenris LJ community. It makes things feel so much more organized.

Why are people speculating that Anders will be in the party?

Because it kind of looks like him in one of the videos.

Probably because in a few in game screenshots a person looked very much like Anders. It would also make sense as there hasn't been another mage announced yet as a companion.

Fenris LJ Community would be cool.

I do not know about "Anders" it bears a small resemblance but at this point it is all speculation. The character I am curious about is the helmeted one. He was in the "companions" screen-shot where we originally saw Fenris, in the original sketches from the Dev's Diary and I saw him/her in another random screen-shot.

I all likelihood that is just a guard. If he was important they would probably reveal his face for a cutscene, no?

Well, one epilogue for Awkaening did say that he traveled to Orlais on a ship with a familiar looking woman. Perhaps Isabela took on our hapless mage as a crew member.

The squee that comes with THE gif (for example), is mostly a joke. When i've posted it a while back i even said "It's been a while, hasn't it?" - that's what Hawke said to Aveline in the dev diary. We lack info so we let our imagination go wild :) But there is not need for people to get scared and run away. Everyone is welcomed to jump in the bandwagon.

More like back slowly out than run away.  lol

Ah yes, but if I remember correctly, the clothes were also very similar to Anders. There's a chance that it could be just that, of course, but he looks very similar to Anders. Bioware hasn't even released anything, from what I've seen anyway, that shows another face of someone who could be a companion; it could be anyone.

Wait, which guard are we talking about? To Isabela's left? That looks like random guard 451.
Anders is between Bethany and Aveline. Which sounds like just the kind of place he'd like to be. :B

For reference, this is the screenshot I assume we are both talking about. As yet nameless peeps are from left to right, City Guard Armor Guy, Templar Armor Guy, and Anders.

I thought you were implying that the person between Bethany and Aveline was not Anders, but a guard. So no I was not talking about the the one to Isabela's left ^_^

Edit: Oh I see where I got confused; I didn't see buggirl's post and I just saw yours, thinking it was in reference of me saying that the Anders guy looks like Anders. :pinched:

I was talking about the guy behind Isabela (there was also a helmeted someone in the original sketches with the Punk Elf Girl). You are probably right but I find it strange that he/she keeps popping up.

There are probably guards stationed around the city. And because there's one model for one type of armor, they're all going to look the same.

I'll just call myself... the designated wet blanket.

I hope its Anders, I liked Anders. Just imagine it, Anders and Fenris:

Anders: You're much more laid back than the last elf I met.

Fenris: Is that so?

Anders: Her name was Velanna, she had nothing but contempt for all of us. Sort of like Isabela when she's angry.

Fenris: I fail to see how a man with such fine social graces such as yourself could drive anyone to anger.

Anders: Are you being sarcastic? Your being sarcastic aren't you?

Fenris:
Anders, it is not my job to be sarcastic, that proud title belongs to Varric. You seem like a decent sort for a mage, now let us continue on our way.

Anders: Thanks?

I liked Anders to. He's number two on my list for returning characters right after Nathaniel. But we all know that's not going to happen.

This dialogue reminds me very much of Nathaniel and Anders' banters. I can see Fenris reacting in a similar way as Nathaniel did.

I guess my only other question would be, aside from how long they might remain in the party since it does span 10 years: Anders was in Kirkwall for a while but didn't Nathaniel also fight in the Free Marches before returning after Howe's death? Or am I confusing him with his brother? And depending on when they join, they are both Grey Wardens, if you chose to keep them, are Grey Wardens allowed to just wander off and do as they please? Of course some of these questions might not matter based on the time frame and if they are even in the game to begin with. :/

I'd love to see either one. Especially Anders. <3 I would love to know more about his past.

Lol anders would officially have a permanent place in my party. What did they say was the time line again? I heard somewhere it started During da:o with lothering then jumped past awakening. Is this true? I've also heard it takes place during origins. The reason I metion this is a dead person doesn't make a great companion. However that may be where save games come into play. If you can miss recruiting Isa I'm sure you can miss anders.

I was busy reading NWN fan fics late at night when I got an idea;

Fenny's inspired by Valen Shadowbreath, no? What if Fenris also has to 'fight his instincts' like Valen did with his demon blood? We've already made the connection for his name to wolf, Darth Gaider already said his name meant something (don't remember what he said exactly).

NO, I'm not implying that Fen's a werewolf (as that theory was already debunked, right?) just that he may possibly be very...feral. With a lot of urges to kill and maim, like an abused dog around humans. Wolves are commonly mistaken as evil, man-killers, but are really very sweet animals. Same for Fenny-boy, maybe?

Just thought I'd bring that up. ;) -slinks back into the shadows to bake more cookies-

On the topic of Fenris having to control his instincts, this would make sense. Lyrium has the unfortunate tendency to make those who are exposed to it go insane. Fenris is described as being a living weapon, perhaps he speaks in meditative statements whilst in combat to keep himself from losing control of himself.

Think, along the lines of Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk. You won't like Fenris when he's angry. Perhaps this is why he prefers to be alone.

Yes...a mad killing machine that's instincts are only to kill and desolate? The Magister could control him through the lyrium, taking it (and with it, his strength) away temporarily with his/her evil magey ways.

Also makes a 'push me up against the wall' romance all the more likely. Wolf marking his territory, no? ;) ah, I can see the dialouge now.

Carver: Sister...

Hawkette: Hmm? What's wrong?

Carver: You've got a bruise on your jaw. How'd that happen? -looks lower- And those marks on your neck...are those-

Hawkette: -blushes- -are they what?

Carver: Bite marks? -understanding suddenly lights those cute, virgin Derp eyes- Did he hurt you?!

Hawkette: -blinks innocently- Who?

Carver: You know damn well who! That filthy lyrium-addled warmonger's been beating you, hasn't he?!

Hawkette: -blushes- Well...not exactly a beating when you like it.

Carver: -blinks, still flushed with anger- What do you mean, sister?

Hawkette: Oh, Carver. -sigh- You really need to find yourself a nice girl and lose that damn innocence already, it's gotten very annoying.

Carver: -blinks again, blushes deeply as he understands and stumbles out of the room-

Well...that how my Hawke'd say. xD What's a little pain if you love the person?

Sounds like a reasonable theory and something that would be fun to explore in the game.

"Having to control his instincts"... has that bitter Twilight flavor.
No thanks. There's a line for me that comes after 'career killer who loves his job' but well before 'berserk button(s) and need to consciously repress homicidal urges.'
