By tragic ending, though, I'd be more inclined to one where Hawke and Fenris are separated somehow, not an ending where one of them dies. An epic ending could be one where Hawke disappears/is taken away (why, I dunno, just go with me on this one), and if you romanced Fenris we get a cutscene where he says he's going after her (and I suppose if you romanced a different character or established an enduring friendship with someone else, they would be doing the same thing).

I like that as well-- seperation not by death, time, or choice. Perhaps it could also that they were forced to flee, they had to fight as they ran, and then got seperated in the chaos and couldn't find each other?

I like yours better Minixe-- Mine sounds stupid.

I'd compare Fenris to Bruce Banner (from The Hulk) He's a genuinely nice guy its just that sometimes when you push him he runs the risk of turning into a whirlwind of destruction. On the one hand, it makes him a very effective warrior, but it also puts him off from the company of others.

Twilight is a poor example of a Character vs. Self conflict like this, simply from the fact that to me, the books aren't as well-written as they could be.

Hawke:
Your quite calm in battle you know that?

Fenris: There is a reason for that. The mantras, the catchesims, all of it serves as a way to remain calm under pressure.

Hawke: Fenris, you usually calm and collected, why would combat change that?

Fenris: Let me tell you a story. After receiving these (points at lyrium brands) I spent a week in my cell on the brink of death, my mind teetering on the edge of madness from lyrium poisoning. Someone, something, I have no idea what it was came to me. Took hold of me. When it let go I was outside of my cell, and the walls were painted with the blood of a maniple of my Master's men.

Hawke: Is that how you escaped from him?

Fenris: Not at first. After that day my Master applauded my prowess and set upon using me as an instrument of terror. Setting me upon those who he considered to be his enemy. Each time that thing took over I'd find myself somewhere that I found unfamiliar, with no recollection of what had happened. The guards outside of my cell took to calling me Fenris, because they equated me to the werewolves of myth. I hated the feeling of it, being a prisoner in both my home, and in my own body. So I taught myself to control my body, to keep whatever it is that visits me in check.

Hawke: It could be a rage demon that haunts you, I could go into the Fade and.-

Fenris: No. Demon or no, this being is a part of who and what I am, I allow it to exert its power from time to time, and in exchange it lets me remain in control. Thus balance is maintained, and it is through my meditations that it remains as such.

Hawke:
That degree of control is unbelieveable, its a skill that destroys all conventional schools of magical study its--

Fenris: Something that no one should be able to do, and this is why the knowlege of what I am must be protected, Maker knows what would happen if the Circle or my Master were able to create more like me. I assume that my secret is safe with you?

Hawke: It is my friend. Although I wouldn't mind you teaching me those meditations someday.

Fenris: Perhaps someday I will.

Do you think Fenris would be religious?

He comes across as more philosophical, less theological.

Honestly, I say no.

Would you believe in a God if you'd gone through such things that he did? I think he'd probably be either 'there is no God/Maker,' or 'If there is a God/Maker, he doesn't exactly care about 'his people,' now does he?'

I say 'no'. Others say 'yes'.

I say 'no' because of the fact he could question why anyone would invoke the name of a deity or plead for help from a deity when they seem to completely ignore the people. It could also be he simply he doesn't believe they exist, either just cleanly not believeing OR "I begged for the help of the Maker; I got none. Why should I believe in him?"

I honestly think he wouldn't care but I bet someone in our party is probably going to bug him about it, maybe not. I see Merrill bugging him about elven heritage.

Separation while on the run/fighting for their lives would be good. I would hope for an ultimate re-meeting at some point, and yeah, would like them to ultimately end up together. But depending on how his markings and his memories affect him, even surviving and together would not necessarily be happy ever after.

But no more of Morrigan's traipsing off 'and don't you come find me!' babbling. As I understand it that quite hacked off a lot of male Warden players. If nothing else, don't let him pull that.

I wonder if we are going to get little trailers for each character like we had before Origins. I loved Alistair's.

Not so much religious, but philosophical. The parables about Andraste focus upon how a former Tevinter slave essentially broke the back of the Imperium. I'd think that Fen would consider the lessons that she taught to be wise council.

Sometimes, believing in a God is the only thing that carries people through terrible times (as with many slaves in the South and some Jews during the Holocaust). Fenris probably won't be one of those people though.

I would prefer Fenris not be religious. Or if he was to be the type to keep it to himself and not impose his views on others.

No, it doesn't. :) I strongly suspect that the ending of DA2 will involve lots of chaos - you could be right on the mark. There has to be a pretty chaotic situation going on in the Free Marches to have Cassandra so freaked. And people tend to lose track of each other in chaotic situations.
I also tend to suspect that Hawke will be missing around the end of DA2, or at least, Cassandra has no idea where she/he is.

I don't think he would be if he was. Fen just doesn't strike me as one that would talk about things he holds close all that easily. If he were religious at all, that would probably include that fact. Leliana was about as close as we ever got to a party member being annoying about it, and tbh, her nagging at Morrigan cracked me up. But then the party banter on the whole was just great.

Hmm....I see my "Neener Shark" pic was spammed a bit throughout the thread, so TGP could see.

I have something cooking....not literally. I'm working on a picture; it might be hard though, never really tried something like it....but we'll see how it goes...^_^

:P Neener Shark was one of the greatest things. For some reason, the sole fact that the shark was the only thing in color just made it that much more hilarious.

The only reason i see to Fenris being religious is that I remember someone in DAO mentioning that Tevinter has a Chantry. Tis possible my friends.

Would certainly be an interesting way to bring us more deeply into the idea of the Black Chantry (Tevinter) as opposed to the White

The Imperial Chantry holds a more tolerant view of mages than its Orlesian cousin. It views Andraste as a mortal woman and not the divine figure that the other Chantries view her to be. This works well with my idea that Fen might view Andraste in a philosophical light

So, I'm getting sick of a lot of the songs on my playlist...anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking specifically to add some Fenris inspiring ones, so I'm just curious if any of you guys have some favorites?

I second this question. Though it doesn't necessarily have to be Fenris. I'm just needing new fic-inspiring material on the whole.

"Faith" by George Michaels

Also, "Cosmic Love" and "Howl" by Florence and the Machine

They make me think about Fenris for some reason, on the last two I think it's the music...No idea about the first one, though XD
