Bah! It's so bad!
PROMPT -- RAIN"Rain, rain, go away
Come again another day..."
Briste Hawke sang under her breath, biting down on the tip of one of her pale fingers. She stared out a window with blue eyes filled with a small, noticeable fear. The rain didn't scare her, but the lightning did. And this storm, lightning was happening often enough to make her shiver.
Yet she still stared outside, despite the fact she had the same reaction to lightning as she did spiders: Jumping back and screaming. Or wimpering, like she was a hurt animal of some sort.
Spiders.
She could clearly picture eight hairy legs crawling over her, while eight, great beady eyes looked up her like she was nothing but a fly caught in a web...
"Maker help me..." Briste whispered, pulling the blanket she had wrapped around herself tighter and shuddering. She stood from the chair she was sitting in beside the window, turning and leaving the room she was in, intending to find somewhere without windows, or spiders. As she walked down a small hallway, she stared at the ground. Occasionally, she'd glance at the walls or ceilings with slight paranoia.
Somehow she ended up in the kitchen, a room with windows, and possibly spiders. Briste cast a glance around, and began to leave. And then she spotted him through the one of the windows out of the corner of her eye, outside and in the rain.
Briste furrowed her brow. She turned and headed towards the door, her hand hesitating on the handle. But curiosity beat out fear. 'And curiosity killed the cat...' Some part of her said. She ignored it, opening the door and stepping outside into the rain.
"Fenris," Briste began, "What are you doing out here?"
The elf didn't respond to her. He was standing with his face turned up to the rain falling from the sky, his eyes shut. His white hair was damp and sticking to his face, and Briste glanced to his feet and saw, as was usual, he lacked footwear of some sort.
She moved closer and reached to put a hand on his shoulder to get his attention, but held back. She knew he didn't like to be touched, even after knowing him for the past two years. Heat brushed her cheeks for a second, but it strayed away as quickly as it had come, and she put her hand back down at her side.
He turned and faced her suddenly. Briste was surprised, taking a step back and having bad footing. The ground started to slip out from under her when Fenris grabbed her by her arm and pulled her back upright.
"T-thanks." Briste stuttered out.
Fenris just nodded at her.
"What are you doing out here?" She voiced her question again.
"I thought we were supposed to meet here, remember? But it looks like no one else is here yet." The elf answered calmly.
Briste bit on her lip. Of course. "Yes. We were. I don't think anyone is going to come because of the rain."
Fenris shook his head. "Isabela told me otherwise."
"Then they're late. Or you're early." Briste added the last part quietly.
Lightning streaked across the sky, and Briste glanced at the ground, closing her eyes. "L-let's go inside and wait where it's dry." She said nervously.
"You don't like the rain?"
"No. I-I... I don't like lightning." Briste replied lowly, feeling like a baby. She waited to be ridiculed.
Briste glanced up to only see Fenris smirking at her, something rare for him. She blushed. "It's not funny." Briste said.
"I did not laugh." Fenris answered.
"Please. Let's go inside." She said, turning and heading back for the door and going inside.
Fenris hesitated for a few seconds, watching the woman he only dared call "Hawke" go inside. Someone then shoved past him roughly, and he noticed that it was the dark haired pirate, Isabela. She hissed something as she went by, something that sounded an awful lot like "Men!"
*Crawls back under table before I'm told to go there and to stay there permanently*
