The elves were much shorter in DA:O. It was a needless retcon. Not only that, but Fenris isn't supposed to be custom fit by whatever preferences his fans have; that's ridiculous. OH NO, HE'S SHORT. CAN'T ROMANCE HIMMMM.
It's dumb. Just plain dumb.
I'm not saying I wouldn't have romance him if he was shorter. I'm just saying its not a big of a deal that he's a few inches taller then what elfs were in DAO.
I just think its a stupid little thing for people to get this upset about.

2. Will Fenris ever wear shoes?
No. The artists have this thing about elves and shoes. Don't get me started.
So Zevran (with his Antivan boots) must be the only elf in Thedas with Official Bioware Granted Shoes, hm?
Unless...unless he just carries them around to sniff them.

But I still do wonder at all the various changes to the races and the motivations behind them overall. I'm sure I could find out if I could be bothered to go digging around interviews in magazines an' all, but I'm too tired and lazy tonight.

I just feel like it was very rude for everyone to whine for Gaider to come and answer questions and as soon as he did and answered something in a way people didn't like (and the thing being such a tiny little thing) they started spaming the board with angry comments.
And on top of that, he did say 'think'. Probably best to wait until we see some shots of him near a FemHawke. If we ever do, seeing as how FemHawke (and FemShep) get so little screen time in the marketing.

Here I am trying to get something for the group, and they won't SHUT UP. Please... for the sanity of this group.. be quiet... hold all your comments until AFTER he's done.. and then by all means spout your heart out! ;]

he was hoping for it, their tears will sustain him
as for me, elf's height is not a big deal.

They aren't being unreasonable however. It's not mindless moaning without reason; the elves were all shorter than humans in DAO. I'm just ambivalent.

Hello there, Gaider, How thee fair this evening?
Here is some of the group questions...
1. How is all the VA's Decided?
I'm assuming they do a combo of open auditions and calling agents
Still getting caught up, but my apologies if this has already been answered. They also have an awesome casting person who generally gets the right voice for the right character. Often the writers have specific people they want for the voice but the people aren't always available or the the casting person has a better option.

1. How is all the VA's Decided?
It's
between myself, the Lead Designer (Mike) and the VO Producer (Caroline)
for any major characters. Caroline decides the others on her own
(though she will seek out approval from time to time, or clarification
if she's unsure what someone needs).
For major characters we
start either with a suggestion, if someone has a particular VA in mind,
or with the bible entry that determines things like apparent age,
accent, role in the story, etc. At that point Caroline would start
rounding up suitable candidates (either from actors she knows about or
through casting agents-- she searches around a lot) and will get
Mike and myself (and sometimes the other writers, who I will get
involved if it's their character) to listen and make suggestions on who
could be a good pick. Sometimes it works, sometimes we try someone out
and recast. Sometimes we recast after a lot of recording has been done,
but that's a hard decision.
Every now and again, if it's a hard
role, we'll make up an audition script and send it out to casting agents
so they can have actors send in audition recordings for that role
specifically (which is a bit easier to discern, as opposed to listening
to commercials or other characters they did and trying to figure out if
they have the range to do the character you want).
Make sense?

Well then I'd be wondering why are these elves in Thedas and not working for santa at the north pole?

This is a good call imo. I never liked the idea of every elf being short. Made it hard to take their race seriously. Just didn't look right ya know?David Gaider wrote...

I don't know. I've never compared the two. I think elves are now the same height as humans, so he'd be a bit taller than FemHawke, but I could be wrong.2. Will Fenris ever wear shoes?
No. The artists have this thing about elves and shoes. Don't get me started.

We have dwarves for dwarf height.
But even had that been said, I wouldn't have had a meltdown. My disappointments are usually kept to myself. Better to focus on the positive. And at this stage of development, nothing we say will have any effect, if simply for lack of time.

I'm not saying it was mindless I just don't see how a couple of inches is something worth freaking out over in that big a way. Personally I did like that the elves were shorter in DAO, but I dont mind that their now as tall as the humans, like a said eariler its just a couple of inches.
