I'd say they are revolting enough already.

I know, but just imagine how much worse it would be if the developers added yet another fatally ill companion to the heep. This board would go from from having the occasional bout of chaos to outright pandemonium.

One of my pet peeves about lyrium was that, in the Deep Roads, you could mainline it like crazy yet there would be no negative side effects. It was like, "Ooh, look, how shiny! *Touch* Wow, I feel great!"

I just thought... if dwarves, who are moderately resistant to lyrium and its effects, can still be seriously injured by it, then my human PC should be ill or something after touching eight mounds of it.

I do hope that the lyrium imprinting brings some form of negative consequence to Fenris, though hopefully not as drastic as Thane's illness.

Agreed, the unrefined lyrium in the deep roads was like candy for most players. Instead of getting harmed by touching it, it instead acted as a healing agent. I mean, I know by that stage in the deep roads campaign you're probably about out of potions, which makes the lyrium an acceptable substitute for most, but still. It was like the Thedas equivalent of crack, just minus the horrific side effects. o.O

This is a woobie.

Suffering from awful lyrium-related side effects would stick him firmly on the list o' woobies.
Hopefully a stoic woobie.

LOL

Hm, I hope Fenris won't suffer too severely from his lyrium tattoos. Tevinters should know what they're doing by now to poor blood slaves like him.

I've always considered the Warden to be a Mary Sue/Gary Stu. That could account as to why they would be immune to such devastating effects.

So if Thane has "space cancer" does Fenris have "magical cancer"?

I vaguely remember Mr.Gaider commenting that was mostly the case of the lore having to take back seat where the gameplay was deemed more important. Even if he didn't like that case much, personally.

So it's like when Jason took the V in True Blood? :P I was laughing so much. Couldn't feel pity. Just laughter. Poor, poor Fenris.

It will be revealed that the lyrium in Fenris' body is slowly killing him, ala Thane. You heard it from me first. :|

Maybe it's not killing him, but slowly driving him insane, like the Templars.  That would almost be worse.  And just the kind of thing Gaider might do, given that he lives on tears.

Fenris, eh?../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png

So ... are the folks at Bioware fans of Norse Mythology or the Quest For Glory series?

I'm hoping QFG../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png

QFG is actually the first thing that I thought of when I heard 'Fenris'. :D

Finally got through reading the whole thread page by page, and only because this is the first time I've gotten really excited about a Dragon Age character reveal. Usually it takes me a while to warm up to them but I'm half in love with this guy already.

I hope we're all not jinxing ourselves here... I'm reminded of a couple months ago when someone posted a prediction that there would be a really hot elf guy companion who hates humans, all humans, meaning he's NOT romanceable for Hawke and is just there to torture the player. :crying: Would the writers be that devious?

Anyways... Some of my musings:
- I love how his back story is shaping up. My favorite theory around here is that he's connected to Fen'Harel in some way. Either he IS Fen'harel or he's got the essence of the god sealed inside him, or I dunno, something. It's gonna be cool, whatever it is.

- Some people have said they don't like his hair... Well, I like it. I think he's the only guy who could pull it off.

- Whoever suggested Cillian Murphy for the voice actor... brilliant. That would be a dream come true. I hope he sounds just like him (and I would squee like I've never squee'd before if he actually was the VA). ...But I wouldn't mind anyone who sounds like Garrett Hedlund either, to be honest.

- As for the speculation about what kind of slave he was... I seriously doubt he was a sex slave at all (yeah, 'twould be too squicky for me too), but I don't think he was a purely a gladiator type slave either. I think he was just a Tevinter mage's secret weapon - he used him to take out other mages in power plays or something like that.

- Finally... Oh Mah Gaaawd he'd better not have a dead wife and/or estranged son. That is all.

He did say something like that. But we are not sure if its Fenris or some other character what has not yet to be announced.

My money is on Isabela. Sounds like something she'd do =]

I don't know... Fenris seems to be one who takes the initiative.

... Hawke opened the door, surprised to see Fenris standing in the archway. His hair was plastered to his skull, those moss-like eyes blazing. "Maker's breath, Fen, how long have you been––"

He stepped inside her house without further greeting and immediately took her face into his damp hands. "Is something wrong? I––" He silenced her with a kiss, not tentative at all but zealous, deep. He wanted––no,
needed––something.

She punched him right in the nose, feeling the cartilidge crunch wonderfully beneath her knuckles.

At least... that's how that would end with my Lady H

Or, ooh, creepier: if there were a bunch of Magisters with their own "Fenrises" and they'd compete to make the craziest most superpowered experiment that managed to live long enough to brag about. Just imagine, a bunch of haughty robed guys standing around having their science projects fight each other to see whose comes out on top.

@Lucy, you aren't the only one. As soon as the topic was brought up in the old thread, I did the same thing.

No, please. I don't mind if he's Lestat, but not those sparkle ones.

Or maybe even a superweapon to help in their fight against the Qunari? I'm reread the later chapters in the Claymore series, and the thought of the Tevinter Imperium creating super soldiers to stem the fight against their mortal enemies could be rather intriguing if handled properly.

Out of all nice, yummy ones. He steered away from the like of Lestat or Eric, and headed straight to those sparkle ones.
